    It's good that you are doing ABBA songs in Spanish (this is your third, after "Chiquitita" and "Dancing Queen")
    "Fernando" was one of the 8 songs that Agnetha & Frida recorded their vices for phonetics, in January 1980, with the help of a Spanish journalist, to complete an entire album in Spanish: "Thank you for the music"
    previously in 1979 ABBA had recorded
    "Chiquitita" and then "I have a dream:,
    both from the album "Voulez Vous"
    As an inhabitant of a Spanish-speaking country, I must admit that ABBA's vocal work is very outstanding.
    Frida's voice looks very strong and her union with Agnetha continues to be heavenly
    For more ABBA reactions in Spanish, my suggestion is "Thank you for the music" which has an official video
    but there is also a very funny: ABBA in Spain premiering "Gimme gimme gimme"
    But don't forget the original ABBA songs in english that you haven't react, like.
    Bang a Boomerang ( official video 1975)

Tropical Loveland is an amazing song, a sultry and beautiful vocal from Frida’s velvety voice. ABBA Oro: Grandes Éxitos is a greatest hits compilation album by ABBA, first released by Polydor in the United States in 1992, in which the songs are sung in Spanish. This album is the Spanish equivalent of their Gold: Greatest Hits album, originally released as Gracias Por La Música in early 1980. It was certified Gold in Argentina. Oro was followed by ABBA Mas Oro: Mas ABBA Exitos (ABBA More Gold: More ABBA Hits) in 1993 which included five English-language versions plus further tracks in Spanish; the four songs that appeared on the South American versions of Super Trouper ("Andante, Andante" & "Felicidad") and The Visitors ("No Hay A Quien Culpar" & "Se Me Está Escapando"), and it also saw the debut of the previously unreleased Spanish version of "Ring Ring", recorded in 1973 but left in the Polar archives for twenty years. In 1999, all 15 tracks were finally collected on one CD in the international re-issue of Oro. At that time the recordings were also digitally remastered in 24 bit. In 2002 this version of Oro was re-released, featuring updated artwork and new liner notes.

  • @nielsulriksrensen9818
    @nielsulriksrensen9818 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    I agree with you. I've always thought that this sounds more like Frida harmonizing with herself. Anyway, she's more prominent throughout the song, and her singing resembels their live versions of the song, less soft and more powerful than on the Swedish and English recordings of the song. Spanish suits this song very well.

    • @jamesbachmann7376
      @jamesbachmann7376 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's what I thought also. I have a hard time hearing Agnetha here, if at all. I always wondered if it was just Frida here. Or if it was just layered less and Agnetha doesn't shine as much.

    • @nielsulriksrensen9818
      @nielsulriksrensen9818 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jamesbachmann7376 If it is so, it's interesting why they chose to do that, as Agnetha and Frida were in the studio together recording the Spanish album. Of course, Frida had already done the harmonizing herself on the Swedish version. But they had sung this song so many times together live in concert, so it would be quite odd. But it definitely sounds like it. Another thing that is quite striking about this version is that Björn and Benny are absent. It's sharper and more vibrant, but with less depth, I think.

    • @TheFridaFan
      @TheFridaFan ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the English language video confuses people a bit, because it focuses a lot of Agnetha's face. But Fernando has always been Frida's song with her voice for prominent and Agnetha providing that sort of whispery backup. I've always been about to hear Frida way more in the mix.

  • @chelseacharger
    @chelseacharger ปีที่แล้ว +10

    The original version of 'Fernando' was in Swedish and recorded for Frida's solo album, 'Ensam'. It is interesting in that the guitar intro is more pronounced and it has a slightly different vocal arrangement towards the end.

      @lounolastname4477 ปีที่แล้ว

      @chelseacharger It has a slightly different vocal arrangement in that Agnetha does not sing on it, yet it retains a somewhat very ABBA-ish sound also

    • @chelseacharger
      @chelseacharger ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lounolastname4477 I know. What I meant is that Frida extends the words like ' kärleken' in the outro repeat choruses. That doesn't happen in the ABBA version, which is a pity as it sounds great.

    'I L like ABBA.I did then and didn't admitted.The snobbery of the time wouldn't allow it.I adid admit it when i heard FERNANDO!I could not bear to keep the secret to my self anymore,i really fell for them'....This emotional confession belongs to famous grand rock persona and sound designer Brian Eno!(also published in 2010)also praising ANNI-FRID for her peculiar performance and strength but also the 'obscure' way she delivered emotions.Thank you man,hatts of to you for this.

      Why was Frida’s performance deemed peculiar? I love the English Fernando version (sublime Frida lead vocal and higher harmony, combined with Agnetha’s melodic and very beautiful lower harmony - the combined effect is really stunning) and I love Frida’s original Swedish version but I don’t like the Spanish version, it sounds very harsh to me

    • @lynne268
      @lynne268 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree that the high harmony is missing from this. But it`s not true that Agnetha was not good at languages. She also spoke German and sang in German. She also beautifully sings her own lead songs in Spanish on this ORO record. She sounds great in Spanish as well as Frida. Björn and Benny were not involved in the production of this Spanish album. That can make this a bit different too. Benny would have demanded more high voices for this, as they say he used to do.
