    The cassette toilet is genius, no more ridiculously pumping, just stop at a gas station to dump. The air-conditioning should’ve been In the middle of the cab. It needs a TV, which sounds ridiculous, but in something that expensive, it’s more glamping than it is camping. All in all, what a phenomenal build

    Does the fresh water could be used throughout the coach or one tank is for the bathroom and the other for the kitchen?
    There is no outside shower?
    What about all the space under the bed? Is that usable storage or it is full of componets?
    In terms of access to the systems, how easy is to fix or maintain the camper part of the house? Access to the heater, water pump, etc.
    Does the showerhead has a shutoff button to conserve water?

    This is a super nice overland rig. I've been set on getting a custom van (probably an AWD Transit) when I retire, but something like this is actually more appealing just for the extreme capability. It's a bit more than I need for the kind of travel I plan to do, but it would be nice to have the capability for an occasional overland adventure. I also love that it has top notch electronics which make it a truly no compromise off grid rig.
    The perfect setup for me personally would be something more capable that a AWD Transit but a little less capable than this, maybe something built on a 3/4 or 1 ton truck chassis with 35" tires and a little less rugged, to improve fuel economy.

    • @ThePyleDriver
      @ThePyleDriver 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Having tested the EarthCruiser commercial chassis offroad I would guess it beats both this and the Earthroamer. It had a turning radius similar to my built JKU and climbed and crawled better on normal 17 inch 37s. The 6.6 gas powerplant was great. Trying to figure out a cheaper box option for it now...

    One really nice rig. A few things I wish were diff. The AC was not in the face of someone trying to sleep and it had a larger refrigerator/freezer to carry more supplies. There’s also a lot of fresh water and not a matching or close to matching grey water so I’m assuming they expect a good portion to be used for cooking and drinking and possibly an outdoor shower… Very impressive build.

    • @angurisloud

  • @rikdeere

    A vehicle for $290K at this point will only appeal to a very select group of people. Average interest rates on 20 year RV loans are likely to be around 8% minimum before the end of the year. Would need to put 20% down: $58,000, and monthly payments of about $2,000. Then there are taxes and registration - in my state of Texas that would be roughly $20,000. The RAM 5500 gets about 10mpg, and haven't even started talking about the diesel operating costs with $5 - $7 diesel prices. All that aside, it's an amazing unit for someone with very deep pockets.

    The design and quality looks good, but I question the storage capacity for cloths and food if your going out for more than a few days. A two week off grid, or longer trip where you can repovision food, but will need more than a few t-shirts and shorts looks like it will challenge even a seasoned overlander. Love the build otherwise.

    I would like to see the trail that this isn't too wide and heavy for that validated 40s and the other intense mods. I don't doubt this thing is well built and super comfy, but it couldn't do many class 2 and 3 trails I've done on the 10pt rating simply because of being too big and heavy. Some of those a van would've been fine.The Russos' truck setup was waaay more capable for many trails in the US West than this GEV.

      Good point, but...
      .
      Our interior is three paces across by seven paces long.
      Three RedHeelers plus two adults (and a frequent yummy third!).
      "But but but how do you live in such a tiny space!"
      We do not live in our ExpeditionVehicle.
      We live out of our ExpeditionVehicle.
      .
      In the video, this rig interior attempts to duplicate a stand-still house inside a vehicle:
      * built-in cabinets -- check
      * built-in bathroom -- check
      * built-in gallery -- check
      * built-in bed -- check.
      Compare that to modular, every component modified or eliminated as the adventure evolves.
      With built-ins, the adventure adapts to the rig.
      We prefer adapting the rig to the adventure.
      .
      Nearly two decades full-time live-aboard, our rig is constantly evolving... changing as our needs evolve.

    Can a vehicle of this size run the TransAmerica trail or is it too large?

      Well the Trans American isn’t a trail, it’s a highway and they drive semi trucks on it. My assumption is that for most of it you’d be fine but you’ll have to figure out what to do when you get to the Darian Gap

    Who builds a rv that's literally intended for off grid usage without a generator, especially at this price point

      Designed with a big battery bank and solar so you don’t need a generator
