Man, Epica has enough masterpieces for 10 legendary bands combined. Check this out, I’m sure you’ll like it a lot - Epica - The Holographic Principle - A Profound Understanding of Reality
I love this song. It's the first KoH so it will always be kinda special to me, but recently I realized I really like KoH part 2. It's not as bombastic as part 1 and part 3, but I really enjoy listening to it. Same as the Holographic Principle - A Profound Understanding of Reality.
If you like choir the in Epica so much, you will love The Holographic Principle - A Profound Understanding of Reality. The beginning somehow reminds me Gregorian chants. F-king awesome. And then you also have a 14 minute masterpiece The Divine Conspiracy, which is even older and almost no one reacted to. It also has a different sound from the other songs I've mentioned. I love the fact that this song is heavy on brass instruments.
This song was written by Epica founder Mark Jansen, this is what he said about it: Mark Jansen comments: “’Kingdom of Heaven’ is very dear to me. This song was dedicated to my grandmother after she passed away. The lyrics are dealing with near-death experiences and the bridge between spirituality and science. I personally like all three parts. Part 2 isn't as heavy as p1 & p3 but I like it a lot. 👍
I like all three parts too, the theme and lyrics are the connection between them, but musically very different from each other, I think part 2 has more elements from their earlier sound than the other two songs
Part 2 didn't impress me at first, but it has since become my favorite. On the surface, I think the main difference is that the transitions aren't as severe and there are only growls at the end. Also, parts 1 and 3 both have sections related to the transition from life to death but part 2 doesn't.
Part 2 is not as heavy as 1 and 3 - but it’s more atmospheric in my opinion. Definitely underrated, just shows how high quality their discography is. And the intro is one of my favorites.
The song is about trying to find common ground between science and spirituality, I think they are basically advancing a scientific approach to spiritual experiences. For instance it's a fact that people do have near death experiences, like the song touches upon. So we should study that with an open mind and see what there is to learn. They are also criticizing the purely materialistic view SOME scientists hold(certainly not all), as the purely materialistic view doesn't and can't explain things like near death experiences. That extra bit in the drum section does sound like wood blocks or like a xylophone or bones or something, adds a lot of complexity to that part. This song is a frikking masterpiece, you should look up the Live in Mexico fan made video to see how they perform it. Add this to your playlist and listen to it a few times, for me it grew, and grew, and grew. Don't worry about the length of the reaction, Epica's fans have long attention spans 😂
Hey RockdaRiff, if you liked it this much on first listen, it just gets even better the more you listen to it, btw that's a cool looking SG you have there on the wall
@@rockdariff LTD's are pretty great guitars, I think the LTD's are just as good as the more expensive ESP branded guitars, I bought an LTD B-205SM 5 string Bass last year, it's phenomenal :)
Just ignore the trolls and keep doing what you're doing. I think it works well. You are correct, that is Latin she is singing in. It translates to: 'You don't understand, you can't explain anything You will not see nothing You don't understand, you can't explain anything Unexplained you don't see' When you go looking for part 2, it's entitled 'The Quantum Enigma (Kingdom of Heaven Part II)'. It's not short either, just shy of 12 minutes.
Thank you Rockdariff, i just new that you were gona like it. Now go listen to this uninterrupted by yourself this song will just get better and better the more you listen to it. Oh and it wasn't to long since its a long song with a lot going on, a lengthy reaction is not surprisingly and i was tuned the whole time
I enjoy your EPICA reactions so much man. I knew from the beggining your were going to love this track, especially all the riffs and transitions I know you dig. The way you do it its just right, it needs to he paused to correctly analyze the different sections. Go ahead with Part Two. Its pretty good, but being honest part One and Two are way better. Cheers!
This song grabbed me Instantly . I even missed my appointment, at one time, just to listen this song in awe 😲🤘. And that Bass tone 😍, and that acoustic part ,..... Effin everything is Epic !!!!!
You remind me of myself, learning about Epica in lockdown 2 years ago - what a fun journey it is! They song is about more Eastern beliefs, like reincarnation and the divinity of all life (probably best known in the West via Buddhism)
the man choir is both out of this world cool and kinda goofy, but that mix is present in a lot of metal in general anyway right? love this track, lyrically one of mark's better attempts at philosophy (except the quantum silliness) and musically just fun as hell.
Great reaction! 😁. Personally prefer prt3. I think the reason prt2 is not so often played is because its not quite in your face like prt1 and 3. More like a background song, like the song tho rarely play it.
nice reaction man, personally I'm not that crazy about kindom of heaven, part 3 is great part 1 is okay but part 2 really not for me, but just do it who knows you might like the song!

An old favourite! So glad you got to hear it!
The Omega Alive version for this song is dope as hell too

I love part 2. That song deserves some more appreciation from Epica fans.
Vin and Sori just reacted to part 2;)

Probably my favourite Epica song. Either this or Omega - Sovereign of the Sun Spheres.
lol during the pause around 24:15 , I see a dragon flying in the music video haha
The part you liked has latin lyrics indeed
Part 2 is different to 1 and 3, still very good
