I was a gold prospector in northern ontario throughout my youth, with my Dad. I believe you're going to get me back into it... I've still got my pans and sluice box. We used to travel all over the US and hit up the open GPAA claims back in the day. Up north of Duluth myself these days. Love your channel.
@@GlacialGoldHunter in Northern Ontario we found some placer gold in till deposits but it was mostly lode gold tied up in rocks and out of reach of total amateurs like we were, and lacking any financial backers. We used to hear rumors of people panning out Diamonds and other gemstones farther down the north shore towards the Wawa area. We were working the Nipigon area ourselves. Beautiful territory. The real gold was the memories with my Dad.
Love your style and that you share with humor. Don't you dare even hint at where you are! I love the commenter who knows you so little, that you needed to be reminded of Jet Dry HA! ThanX & looking for more.
Great video, really enjoyable to watch, I like how you try ordinary places all over the place , I also like how you explain the geology , very interesting, peace ✌️
Pretty dang cool. I'm an amateur agate hunter, but this looks just as fun. I'll have to look into trying it out sometime in the Cities/on the north shore. (Also, if you're looking for Mississippi access, i recommend Islands Of Peace Park in Brooklyn Park.)
Try the Gold Rush (gravity sluice). Works really well (when slightly adapted) for catching that small flour gold we have here in MN & gets around the sluice law :-) An elegant solution!!
I like your videos. I think your being honest. I watch alot of gold videos. I don't think they are all being completely honest. And I don't blame them. They will tell you what river or stream they found gold just not where on the river. I go and pan in several spots in the same river and I find nothing . But it's fun to do. And if I find a honey hole, I will keep it to myself. I would be a fool not to. Keep up the interesting videos! Thanks.
Very nice clean out. That was nice gold for panning 3 buckets. Too bad you couldn’t use a sluice to run more material. My opinion, you did awesome, thanks for the video, good stuff!!
Diggin the vids man! Should give a shot on the Wisconsin River near the central part of the state. Really cool bedrock, boulder and gravel areas when the water is low. Gotten quite a few specs and lots of garnets/black sand.
Be sure to use a surfactant in your water like jet dry... also try holding your spoon backwards allowing the water to take the cons off the spoon at its own pace.. slower feed is better.. good vids man..
I have a question I'm in northern indiana. What do I need to look for to find geodes? I have heard there are geodes in the Hoosier National Forest south of Indianapolis but I was hoping to find some closer to home. Thanks
Great channel. I get some chuckles because you’re a funny person (as in funny haha not funny 😮) and I get to learn stuff. How do I classify Illinoisans? They come in a lot of sizes in S.E. Wisconsin.
You can also get gold from the Le Suer river down by Le Suer Minnesota. The rumor is, roughly $20 per day can be panned. Beyond that, idk. Not a good payout, but a good practice river to extract "fines".
Panning around Rainy lake might give you something. There where some old gold mines up there. I actually visited two of them. The one on Little American island and Bushyhead island.
@@GlacialGoldHunter hahaha. But really! I have always thought due to the glaciers there has to be gold or even diamonds in Minnesota! Have you found any silver at all?
@@sesrunner08 There was a gold rush in Oronoco MN back in the 1800's but obviously it didn't pan out. They used to have a "Gold Rush Days" festival every summer in Oronoco.
I wish rules would change. I'm in Wisconsin, and it would be nice to at least use a battery-powered sluice box while recirculating the water in a tub. Keep getting that Au!
You might want to check where the tree roots meet land and water. Gold will get caught in the dirt in the roots and large rocks even in medium moving water.
I know exactly where that is. Used to play in that stream when I was a kid catching tadpoles and stuff. My name is carved in that wall several places too... 🤣
Have you had a chance to see who many gold mines in Randolph county n.c. and Asheboro n.c. It's a great place not in the summer.snakes are large rattlesnakes.
You will never find that monster gold nugget if you never go looking for it! I am loving your content. Thank you!
Thank you!
@@GlacialGoldHunter can you do a panning video for Minnehaha falls thanks.
Love the channel very informational i learn alot watching your content thanks for sharing.
You are my favorite local TH-camr! Thank you so much for posting these videos. I’m learning a lot and am excited to show these to my kids!

That little spot was a glory hole.
I have around 5 grams of MN glacial gold. My favorite hobby. Heavy pans!
How many years of panning did that take?
@@GlacialGoldHunter lol…right around five years. I hit it pretty hard until I had a daughter, starting to get back into it tho

I'm so glad that you fill your holes! I'm sick of stepping in them at Nugget!!
Yeah there are signs there that tell people to fill the holes but they don’t.

Good advice.
Do the Iron Range. The U of M has several maps around the basalt with quart vein areas. Good panning :)
I haven’t seen those maps. That would be interesting to see. I was up there panning til but never saw quartz veins.
I have a question I'm in northern indiana. What do I need to look for to find geodes? I have heard there are geodes in the Hoosier National Forest south of Indianapolis but I was hoping to find some closer to home. Thanks
That’s a good question. I’ve never gone geode hunting myself so I don’t really know the best way to look for them. But I wish you luck.
I was watching and you were looking for indicators and if I'm not mistaking if you find rough garnets that is also an indictor.
It can be an indicator that dense material is gathering there. But not necessarily that there is gold.
Good stuff. Have you ever thought about skippy dipping over to your to friendly neighborhood home improvement store and pan a 50 lb bag of sand?
Might be a good winter video.

😆 not sure how to deal with the Illinois boys. Maybe build a wall.
If someone asks what's top the tater... Well. They haven't lived much life! Good work!!

Yep you know not find it if you’re out looking for it.
You’re in a creek on the third rock from the sun right? Nice job prospect.
You found the spot!
💙💛
I live in St Paul. I would like to know where you are at
Why 🧐
Down by Rochester on the zumbro there is gold. Exposed bedrock too.
On public land?
You should ask St. Anthony to help you find the gold. Bet! He found my grandma's wedding ring. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I’ve never met him but I’ve been there.

Fine gold shows up better in blue pans.
Probably true.

PS I have seen copper paydirt for sale.

The money is in the views. 😆
