Greetings from Scotland! Your reaction was to be expected because that's the "Diana Effect!" Many people have tried to "explain" that voice and failed! Diana is impossible to quantify because she is absolutely the most unique voice in the world! The more you listen to Diana singing you will realise that Diana doesn't "sing in a masculine voice" but it's most definitely a feminine voice. There is a sweetness in that powerful deep contralto that makes her quite different to a male singer. She now has a vocal range of around 4 octaves and the ability to sing gentle and soft when she needs to. She has a natural talent of producing polyphonic overtones as well which sounds as if more than one voice is coming from her, because it really is! If you run her songs through spectral analysis software you actually see several voices! What Diana is capable of, we haven't seen anything like 100% yet! As she matures that voice will get stronger, and even more flexible - so what is to come will be spectacular!

@@seyimibode No problem! Diana is special. I've been following her since around 13yo. Diana's birthmother had multiple miscarriages but when Diana came along, she seemed to hate her. She verbally and physically abused her, trying to drown her and belittle her. It all culminated when (at 3yo) she dragged her to a bus stop with a broken collarbone and abandoned her, saying "Survive if you can" A passing relative took her in but because she cried constantly (naturally with a broken collarbone) she took her to the authorities who removed Diana from her birthmothers care and placed her in an orphanage. For almost 2 years Diana never gave up hope and she knew that she was meant for something better. (This story is in her Wikipedia entry) Finally her new mother (Irina Ponik, who worked as a masseuse there occasionally) Signed her adoption papers and took her home. She vowed to pay Irina back for her kindness. Irina had a real struggle because Diana had obviously been badly affected by the experiences and at 5yo, she had a very bad stammer. It was recommended that she be taken for singing lessons to help this and immediately it was recognised that Diana had perfect pitch and an excellent ear for music and songs. 1 year later, at 6yo, Diana was performing solo on stage!
This young unique phenomenon sang everywhere and anywhere she could, working constantly to earn money for the family who rescued her. Hi I really enjoyed your reaction to Diana. Diana is classified as a very very rare dramatic contralto which is the deepest darkest and lowest female voice type. She also has ability to sign with polyphonic overtones/multiple notes at the same time. Diana, the unique singer and songwriter in Russia was born in May, 31. 2003 in the Far East of Russia. (www says she is between 1.66 -1.70m/ 5.5 - 5.7 ft tall.) She didn't have a happy start in life. The woman who gave birth to her had many pregnancies, only Diana survived... and she did not love her child, cruelly abused it and tried to drown it. The 3 year old child was found at a bus stop with a broken collarbone and taken to an orphanage. There she finally found love ... from Irina Ponik, a massagetherapist. Taking a young child into the family was not easy for Irina. Her son was already 20 years old, daughter Nastya 17 years... Now start all over again? Yes!!! Diana came to a poor but loving family when she was 5 years old.
Diana spoke badly, cried a lot and was still very scared but she all sing songs from cartoons. The doctor recommended singing lessons and so, the singing teacher Elena Kazantseva discovered Diana's talent. And all started...
During 2008 to 2012 Diana sang around 40 songs, including at competitions.
Her mother, Irina Ponik, turned her whole life inside out and started all over with a new motherhood and many new professions - seamstress, manager, vblogger… admirable. Everything that has to do with Diana's singing training, performances, competitions, looking for sponsors is organized and coordinated by her mother Irina Ponik. She took extra sewing courses too. Since then, she's been sewing all of Diana's stage costumes, because all of these things consume the family budget. She accompanies her daughter on trips and captures her life in photos and videos with the persistence of a visionary. It is admirable how she promotes her daughter's career, teaching her how to fly but makes sure that she is down to earth Remains.
Diana impressed with her talent in over 50 national and international competitions. Her confidence grew, her voice continued to develop ... until one day she was asked to compete in more distant competitions so that other children could have a chance to win.
In 2012, Irina's family moved to her hometown of Toglyatti, much closer to Moscow. Diana lost her fear that the woman who gave birth to her would kidnap her.
In 2017 Diana went to Moscow, at the Russian 'The Voice Kids'. Next day, a huge scandal broke out in social medias. A door had closed but a new door opened...
Diana entered another competition in 2018 and 2019 and won twice. That project is unique in the world, an international TV- competition: 'You are Super', especially for adopted and orphaned children.
The winner of the season will be determined by a 6-day public vote and the final took place in the Kremlin Palace and her videos were uploaded to TH-cam and soon Diana had millions of fans.
The project producers help the finalists to start their studies and promote their creativity. Diana won a scholarship and Igor Krutoy (Russian music titan, juror and sponsor) gave her a small apartment (37m²/ 398.26 ft²) in Moscow. There she lives in the small apartment with her mother and grandmother and was able to start her vocal training with the best teachers such as Professor Olga Donskoy. (She died of Covid-19 in October 2020). Now she is taught by the great Alexandra Pismennaya, who was a student of Prof. Donskoy. Maestro Krutoy also introduced Diana to the excellent singer, songwriter and producer Brandon Stone. With Maria Tarasenko (songwriter), the trio created the 9 songs of Diana's first CD, released Dec. 2021 with great success. The album received gold in June 2022.

And when you hear her voice, you feel like she has wrapped you in a warm velvet blanket and served you a mug of hot, dark chocolate. Every song is a unique experience, it captivates you, you feel bound by magic. Diana doesn't just sing, she creates worlds... and goosebumps.
Diana has something primal, mystical, but also sensitive and sensual in her voice and she lives her songs. She also has a perfect pitch and her sense of rhythm was exceptional even as a little girl. Diana is a dramatic contralto, the rarest and lowest female voice type (her range C3-D7). Your voice has natural polyphonic overtones and sometimes specifically an undertone = subharmonic. You hear the voice an octave lower than Diana sings. Not everyone can hear that.
Undertone singing is a singing technique that belongs to the main category of overtone singing in which the vibration mode of the vocal cords is modulated to produce sounds that are below the singing tone.
In contrast to overtone singing, these tones are not overtones (i.e. integral multiples of the fundamental, but integral divisors of the fundamental, so-called subharmonics.)

But she is not only a great singer and storyteller. She lives her songs and touches our hearts and souls. But also she looks beautiful and she is a humble, intelligent and hardworking young woman. She also gives charity concerts. She loves her family and her fans. They are 'Friends' to her and they are very supportive of her. Diana is grateful that they helped improve her home studio and also supported her future plans (first album). Her Russian Friends have chosen Diana as "National Treasure". I think, she is our “Earth Treasure”.
The break of voice made Diana’s voice even darker and deeper. She has mastered this time very professionally and has worked hard to bring back the lost high notes and has expanded her vocal range, currently from C3-E6. Her genres are folk-rock, folk-pop, jazz, soul, blues, soldier songs and Diana-stile… tradition meets modernity.
She loves to sing in French, but also sings in English, German, Arabic and Spanish... but only phonetically so far. She plays the piano and ukulele.
2020 Diana graduated from high school with honors as an external student a year earlier as “normal”, applied to music colleges and was rejected (examiners suspected she had a voice defect). But she is totally normal and healthy ... and now she is a student at the university, at the legendary Russian State Institute for Theater and Variety Arts (Juilliard similar to GITIS). She composes and creates her own songs.
In October 2021 Diana was invited to her first adult contest on Russian television 'The ShowMaskGoOn'. She won!!!

Are you aware you are silent throughout her performance? (Again, not in your reaction, where it's clear you are saying things, but in your reaction video, the thing we see/hear).
I know what you mean by it being shocking -- I think it is for most folk first time. It was for me. Also, what you mean when you say she has a man's voice. But an expert would be able to discern that it is a woman's voice even if it is more difficult for amateurs like you and I to hear it at first.
That said, Diana's voice seems to be unique. First, her natural voice, in operatic terms, is "dramatic contralto" (contralto is the lowest register for a woman, rare, and especially rare in its powerful "dramatic" form, as is clearly the case for Diana, even though she can also sing in conventional but very sweet high registers too). Second, she has a "polyphonic" voice -- she can sing with multiple overtones simultaneously, essentially doubling or tripling her own voice. (She has other unusual vocal skills too, but she doesn't use them in this song.)

I thought it was likely deliberate but part of my reasoning for commenting was that I'm fundamentally non-judgmental in spirit and thought, and part of that is that I don't make assumptions, and like to be helpful for reactors who feel to me to be good and trying to build up a subscriber base (which is to say, most reactors I encounter). So one thought I had was What if it wasn't deliberate and you didn't notice? I've little idea about the tech reactors use so it seemed plausible. I trust you don't mind me asking such things!
Also, it makes sense to me. There's good evidence that most viewers' experiences will be about non-verbal aspects, and even within the verbal aspect, words per se are a small part of verbalizing, especially, perhaps, words like "wow" or "what is this?!?" or "this is so goood" or "goosebumps!". And even putting aside the science, I know it's true for me.
That said, now you've confirmed it was deliberate, it might help for you to know that I've not encountered a reactor who has done so without any indication it's deliberate. Maybe add some graphic and/or text to your reaction video when you first speak but are inaudible? "You don't need to hear me yet! Let's enjoy the music!" or some such? Anyhoo, just a thought.
She sure is unique. Having begun to explore her life I would say her voice is a relatively small part of her uniqueness, almost (but not quite!) superficial. It's an instant sign that something about her is radically different, but there's much more to her than meets the ear and eye. I recommend spending a minute or so reading the first few sentences of the Early life section of her Wikipedia page to get an inkling of her starting point, and if that gets your attention, asking your viewers for more info about her life.
