This is not relevant for this time of year, but I find Old Navy consistently does great summer dresses. But I also quite like their thick long winter knit cardigans and flannels. They're a very solid affordable basics clothing brand. They very frequently have sales, so there's no point paying full price. And one last comment: Thank you for the men's clothing hack idea, I've never thought to look in that section before!
I think the difference in the 16 standard and the 16 plus is that the plus is cut for a plus size body. There’s a big difference between someone that is a size 16 because they are like very tall and structured bigger, where for they can wear a cut that is more straight sized. A plus size 16 is going to be cut for a plus body which has more likelihood of needing more room in the belly, the booty/thighs and a higher rise in the crotch. I think it’s good that they are cut differently! That way if you are a more straight body type there’s an option and if you are more traditionally plus maybe like shorter and fatter then you have an option too!
That's interesting. I know for a fact that XXL is 1"-2" (armpit to armpit) LARGER than 2X plus. I measured to believe it. A lot of plus sizes are skimpy in the chest. The progression is more like XXL to 3X. .
ON has true tall extended sizing - not just a few inches added for length but longer torso and HIGHER RISE. It's nice for a dress with elastic waist to sit at my actual waist vs under my boobs.
@@aikanae1 sounds good, just my experience with plus and straight size, I wear a 16 and have a big belly and small bust! Plus seems to accommodate my shape better than standard:)
I work for ON and can confirm the sizing blocks for straight vs. plus are different. Plus bottoms have a longer rise, especially in back and the side seams are slightly forward. Button-down tops have hidden buttons in the placket to prevent gaping. All tops have extra room in the bust and are slightly longer in front.
That is super interesting! Thank you, I'm built like Carrie, taller and midsize and straight with no hips or butt lol so curvy things don't fit me but I am right in that space she always talks about 14-16.
Old navy is my go to for everything, I dress business casual every day and their pixie pants are everyyyyyything. I think my closet is 75% old navy and I’m fine with it
Would love to see videos that follow-up "try-on" videos. Like a product review, AFTER the original review. Clothes are usually always their best when they are brand new... but how well do they hold up to everyday life!? Most pieces of clothing, even within the same brand, not only fit differently, they also wear differently. So, do they shrink after a few washes? Do they pile after a few wears? Are they exactly the same?? What to expect after the "new" has worn off! Just a thought. :)
"Slub Knit" are two different things - slub is the type of yarn used to make the shirt, basically the yarn is different thicknesses so you'll have little chunks of thicker strands. Knit meaning the shirt is a knit fabric (like a t-shirt) as opposed to a woven fabric (like a blouse).
@@FlwrCats76 To each their own, but I have jeans and work pants from Old Navy that have lasted for years, and I've literally never paid $50 for a single pair of pants there. In fact, I have jeans from Old Navy that have held up better than a pair of Madewell jeans that ripped in the thighs after a YEAR.
I know they have sales but it still bothers me that they charge so much in the first place. It’s a sales truck to make people think they’re saving money because it’s “on sale,” and makes people buy without thinking because they don’t want to miss the deal. Just price them fairly from the beginning and be transparent rather than making people impulse buy and have the feeling of “saving money.”
There is a difference in the plus and straight sizes. A lot of stores that have both straight and plus sizes sometimes overlap in the numbers. But plus usually is more curvy or has more fabric in certain places. I'm plus size, but in Old Navy's sizes I can do a straight size 20, but in curvy I can do 18, and in their plus size I do 18 usually. My mom also usually wears 18 regular and 16W.
Old Navy is definitely one of the only stores my straight size friends and I can shop together. Old Navy sizing is great. I don't shop there a lot right now (accept masks which is a great deal from there) but I that is my go to for cardigans/ jackets especially (because I don't love jeans with stretch)
This is kind of right. It has to do with the sample size of the pattern and how they size it up and down in production. A straight size will usually be a size 4 or 6 sized up or down and plus will usually be a size 16 or 18 and be sized up or down to make the rest of the sizing. This is why a plus 18 may feel like its more curvy because it is actually modeled on a true size 18 where the straight 18 would have been modeled on a size 6 model and sized up to meet size 18 measurements. I hope this helps !
I currently work at old navy and if you have been looking for jeans on sale the past few weeks they’ve been at 40-50% off right now the website is 40% off (around $20 a Jean depends on the style) hopefully this helps on saving a few bucks!
Carrie is too cute at 9:29 talking about overalls- reminds me of Bubba in Forest Gump listing off shrimp lol "there's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich"
I work at Old Navy and also being a midsize to plus-size girl there are so many great hidden gems there! They’re the only jeans I absolutely feel comfortable in and the high rise jeans are so so good! Sometimes in store we Carrie extra high rise and those are great too!! I never tried men’s pants at old navy but now I think I have too!! 😍👏
As someone who was a long time Old Navy employee, don't ever buy anything from them for full price. At the very least you can normally get an emailed coupon. They literally always have something on sale.
I work at Old Navy and there’s always so many sales! Black Friday has the best deals, cyber Monday and right now everything is 50% off. Also if ur signed up for emails there’s usually a “today only deal” great way to save 😉

If anyone needs a tip for "belting" some pants but don't want to use a belt or don't have belt that fits. I use a hair scarf and pass it through two of the belt loops and knot it together, that way if you have a lot of them you can colour coordinate with shoes, face masks, or anything and it works great with tucked-in tops or knotted shirts etc.❤️
I rediscovered Old Navy a couple years ago and I was blown away. I remember when it was sweatshirts and khakis exclusively. I am now OBSESSED with Old Navy. From dresses to jeans and everything in between. It's VERY rare for me to wear an outfit where nothing I'm wearing is from Old Navy. The men's clothes are great, too!
I bought the exact same overalls, the Martina pink stitching overalls at a sale for 25 bucks. I kid you not, but I have wore them 10+ times since then! And they hold on strong and still look like brand new. Love love love those overalls!!!
Growing up with body confidence issues I always liked shopping at Old Navy because I felt like that always had cute clothes that I'd feel comfortable in. They're not the greatest quality but their stuff can last if you take care of it! they are pretty reliable.
Hey Carrie! I work for old navy and they are a great company to support with great values. They care about inclusivity & diversity and volunteering and supporting charities is one of their core values (each store has a monthly charity or volunteer event) some of it includes becoming familiar with certain resources and world issues. Overall a great company and i'm happy to see that the clothes worked out for you! We certainly are a lot of peoples staples and a lot of people have told me they feel comfortable shopping with us and the clothes make them feel great!
I think of plus vs straight size the same way that I think straight size vs juniors sizing. Because a women’s straight size 12 and a juniors 13 are wayyy different. I think of the difference in the same way when discussing the plus/straight size 16
Thank you for mentioning the belt situation for midsize/plus size people. I have SUCH a hard time finding belts. Now I know there’s a place where I can find one that doesn’t feel like it’s trying to cut me in half. You’re the best ❤️
Kind people are pretty cool.😉 Also: I just had to buy the black cardigan, the windowpane pants, striped long sleeve and the overalls because Carrie did.😂 Us midsize girls gotta stick together during these times. My wedding may have gotten postponed because of Covid, but at least my Doc Marten boots arrived today and I can look forward to this old navy purchase.🧘♀️✌🏻
I love Old Navy Rockstar skinny jeans and their high waisted skinnies. I am a size 16 and carry my weight in my hips and thighs but my waist is smaller and their jeans just “fit”. I also buy them when they have their sales so I get them around $20-$25 which is AMAZING. It was one of the first stores that actually had “stylish” clothing that fit me back in the early 2000’s so they will always hold a special place in my heart. I didn’t have to order online or dig to find one or two pieces that sort of fit. We are so lucky now to have many more choices but I will forever be grateful to ON for being there.
I hadn’t shopped at old navy since I was a kid and decided to get some stuff like a month ago and fell in love! The quality for their sale prices is great. I bought a couple pairs of shoes there and those were amazing too! And if you’re looking for awesome masks...old navy is the place! Their masks are so lightweight and breathable and they have mask patterns that match their clothes! I have a cheetah print dress and the matching mask from there!!
Old Navy’s active wear is really great! They have the most comfortable joggers and cropped yoga pants, I also love their leggings and biker shorts for actually being active. They do seem to price their plus size items higher, and when they do sales they can be a little shady. Like, they’ll say “All leggings on sale!”, but that doesn’t apply to plus size leggings. I’m still an Old Navy stan, but yeah, they’ve got some explaining to do with that one.
Found the CUTEST pairs of plaid jeggings from Macy’s. Highly recommend. I’m between a large and 1x depending on the fit and the ones I found are amaZING.
I think you hit the nail on the head between the two size 16 overalls when you said that the plus size were made for that particular type of body. I've noticed in skinny jeans that plus sizes will have more room in the calves and ankles vs standard sizes skinny jeans- the same with dresses and their busts. I think it's really cool that old navy has that particular distinction and includes 16's in both ranges because obviously not all bodies are the same, but not all plus size made clothing is flattering for particular body parts. I always felt growing up that it was an insult from the company that my skinny jeans were wider at the bottom insulating everyone in that size needed the extra room, even if the jeans were 'super skinny'. Thank you for your content because I have never really had any similar sized people to look up to, and i have found more confidence in myself and the clothes I wear in public!
I'm an employee at Old Navy and I tried on the men's straight leg cargo pants in a 29 (I'm a size 10 typically) and those are the more typical cargo pants and they are so flattering!
Hey Carrie! You should order multiple sizes in the pieces so you can see which size works best for you!! 💗 and then return the one that doesn’t work for you - or postmark!
I'm not sure why but when Carrie said "RIP to that season of life", it really struck a chord. I'm in my first year of university and I'm struggling to let go of high school and move forward. Hearing it called a season of life helped a lot. Every season has it's good and it's bad, but each is beautiful. Thank you for a fun video that made me smile and helped me process my feelings!
Courtney, it took me almost 3 years to feel comfortable at college (I was pretty introverted) and then my senior year flew by and I didn’t want to leave! Enjoy each season, there is joy to be found even in the uncomfortable ❤️
As an Old Navy employee I am so happy that you loved the items that fit!!! I have always been a mid-size gal (size 14/16) and Old Navy has been my favorite clothing store for a super long time. I would definitely recommend doing a deeper dive into the store - my favorites right now are the Sky-Hi Straight jeans, and stores are getting sooo many cute sweaters right now for fall/winter!
I just got home from work and audibly yelled YASSSS when I saw this video. I love ON. They're keeping up with the trends while providing good quality. And you're right they ALWAYS have sales. I used to work for the company, but I don't miss the discount at all. 😁
I'm pretty standard size with clothing but I absolutely love all of your videos and what you're doing for all women! Always sit through them all for your personality and some education on clothes sizing and body positivity. Keep it up! ♥️
Yes, please do another video on sizing/old navy sizing! I only buy/wear old navy jeans bc I feel like they fit perfectly in all the right places, but getting jeans from Target is the most frustrating thing ever!! You should also do another measuring "high wasted jeans" and include them. I'd be interested to know how they compare to the other brands.
I was curious about the sizing so I looked it up and found "Old Navy can be off (larger) by five inches from the stated waistline size." So it's not that Old Navy runs true to size, it actually runs very big but we're just used to vanity sizing which kind of skews our perception haha
I was so excited when I saw you filmed this video. I currently work at Old Navy in Canada but have loved the brand for YEARS. It made me feel “normal” that it ran true to size and I didn’t have to size up like two sizes in all the other stores!!
I used to hate ON bc nothing came close to fitting me properly (long and lean), trying things on there was so frustrating as everything was middle of the road - medium height, medium weight and the style seemed so blah. Now, they're so inclusive to the whole spectrum of bodies that exist, and I love it. I have found that some things arent consistent in sizing and they dont carry longs/talls in my local ones though I can go in, try stuff on for general fit and they'll order it there for me in long/tall and I get free shipping to my house - love it!
My heart is so HAPPY!!!! I work for Old Navy and I am so happy you love your items!!!! Literally every time u liked something I smiled and giggled out loud!!! Definitely try our new straight jeans!!! You’d like them!
I would love to see a wide calf boot haul! Torrid has been my go to lately because they are the only boots I've found in the past several years that actually fit!
Got back from the doctors today where she told me I’m too heavy and need to start weight watchers over gaining weight over the last couple years, and then cried the whole way home. Seeing you be so confident with my body type made me smile for the first time in hours. Thanks Carrie for reminding me that a number on a scale doesn’t determine my beauty and worth!
ON is pretty notorious for their vanity sizing and i'd say that's true for my experience. i noticed a couple of years ago that i was a comfortable size 18 in most stores but could easily fit into a straight size 16 at ON. i think they're far from true sizing and actually run big
I love the color of the second overalls, but I would want the waist band to be high just like jeans. I also love the color of the stripe top with your darker hair. Definitely learning a lot from the comments about the 16 straight size and 16 plus not being the same cut!
i love the size range of old navy! old navy is an affordable and accessible store i've always shopped at no matter what size when i was a size 18 i would go to old navy and know i could find clothes fit me at a reason able price ow at a size 12/14 i can still go to old navy and find clothes in my size and budget love your videos and how you may efforts to highlight size inclusive brands!
I think it’s kinda cool in a way that the straight size and plus size section overlap because then midsize people like you can shop both ☺️. So much cute stuff 😍
Glad you touched on the difference between the pul and straight size line! it can be confusing to see the same number and expect the same fit! the plus line is cut differently and therefore fit differently! they are made with a plus body in mind rather than just making larger versions of the straight sizes! That is actually pretty traditional I guess you could say. I remember shopping with my mom as a kid and her explaining that the "womans" section was cut differently so an 18 and an18W were going to be different. I shop old navy a lot and it can be tricky to figure out your sizes there but once you do, they tend to keep the same styles just updated depending on the seasons and trends which makes it easier. Their plus sizes are generally more expensive than the straight sizes but sometimes they go on better sales because they don't sell as well especially instore.
I love that you try the belt! I always have a hard time finding belts that fit me right😔 How fun would be a video trying accessories, maybe trying to style them?!😱
So glad you decided to give Old Navy a try! I'm a size 14 as well and I've always found some gems there. I typically buy an L or 14 in straight sizes from them but sometimes have to size up to an XL or straight 16. I know you probably don't need any more active wear right now but I really love their compression leggings and their workout clothes. They also tend to have some cute dresses and adorable sweaters (especially this time of year). The thing about them is they pretty much ALWAYS have a sale so I don't really shop from them until it's 40% or 50% off.
When I was over 260lbs I would almost exclusively shop old navy plus clothes clearance! I’ve lost 100 lbs and still love the clothes. They’ve come a long way in the last 10 years
Ok so those windowpane plaid pants with a tucked in distressed band-tee with a grayish blazer with those elbow patches and some docs or chelsea boots....
I’m so glad you made this video! I just started shopping at old navy again and I can’t stop! I would love for you to do a video about the overlap between the larger end of straight sizes to the smaller end of plus sizes because I get so confused. I think it depends on the brand, too.

Found the CUTEST pairs of plaid jeggings from Macy’s. Highly recommend. I’m between a large and 1x depending on the fit and the ones I found are amaZING.
Please do more “trying on size ___ from different stores” or “trying different sizes from different stores”
You should do an entire video shopping and styling the Old Navy Men's section!
I'm an employee at Old Navy and I tried on the men's straight leg cargo pants in a 29 (I'm a size 10 typically) and those are the more typical cargo pants and they are so flattering!
OMG YES PLEASE WITH THE WIDE CALF BOOTS VIDEO, I have been looking for the past 6 years...no joke! Love you x
Hey Carrie! You should order multiple sizes in the pieces so you can see which size works best for you!! 💗 and then return the one that doesn’t work for you - or postmark!
Old Navy passes the vibe check
I want her to try the new plaid pants from American Eagle with a little flare
i work at AE! They're really cute! Definitely size down tho!!
Are they long I’m 6’ 2” and I need a long pant
@@summerharrison3741 yes they are! But they're also super high rise, so you should probably order them in a long!
Yessss! I keep getting an ad for them and keep thinking that Carrie would LOVE them!!
okay I am so impressed with old navy in this video. I really haven't worn old navy in a long time but wow. this video was very helpful!
YES to wide calf boots! The struggle is real!
Keep it up! ♥️
It’s been a hot minute since I stepped foot in an Old Navy, but that was forreal my childhood ☺️
They do run big, yeah. But all women’s sizing is bullshit, so whatever, I’ll take the vanity sizing. :P
I have noticed they run really large too.
I have found that some things arent consistent in sizing and they dont carry longs/talls in my local ones though I can go in, try stuff on for general fit and they'll order it there for me in long/tall and I get free shipping to my house - love it!
those olive green pants are PERFECT for you omg
My colleague told us about the 50% off sale at Old Navy yesterday and we all stopped grading immediately to fill up a cart.
Yup, I bought a bunch of workout wear!
My heart is so HAPPY!!!! I work for Old Navy and I am so happy you love your items!!!! Literally every time u liked something I smiled and giggled out loud!!! Definitely try our new straight jeans!!! You’d like them!
Absolutely YES to the wide calve boots video idea! I have struggle finding a pair that fits me since I was like 15 and always stuck to ankle boots. 🙄
THANK YOU for talking about belts! I’m midsized and I can never find a belt that’s big enough even for my waist and it can be so disheartening.
I love Old Navy. I get all my “basics” for each season there. I am in love with their jeans.
Need more!!! They have so many cute dresses and jackets.
Ok. Those overalls. I’m buying a pair immediately
Finding clothing dupes would be such a fun video!!
Old Navy is where its at for all the cute Christmas pajamas!!
One good thing about Old Navy, I love their clearance section.
I've been SUPER into Old Navy denim and their t-shirt dresses this year; I can't get enough.
I’ve been LOVING old navy since I put weight on. So many sizing options and cute stuff
The striped shirt from the previous haul + these overalls = 100% chuckie vibes
I would love to see a wide calf boot haul! Torrid has been my go to lately because they are the only boots I've found in the past several years that actually fit!
I love old navy 👏🏼 they were definitely one of the first places that actually had decently cute plus sized clothes!
Yes yes yes to the wide calf boots!!
Pixie ankle pants are my go to work pants. Love them! 👏🏼
That last outfit w the belt . My god! Chefs kiss
I love the old navy joggers and the rockstar jeans
Omg I loved the draw string on the cargo pants, those are so cute!!
That first outfit is giving me such fall vibes! I love it on you so much!
ON is pretty notorious for their vanity sizing and i'd say that's true for my experience. i noticed a couple of years ago that i was a comfortable size 18 in most stores but could easily fit into a straight size 16 at ON. i think they're far from true sizing and actually run big
The best thing about Old Navy is the free online/mail returns!!!
Pixie pants are the best 💜 I’ve been wearing them for years, and they always have the cutest colors and prints 👍
I love the color of the second overalls, but I would want the waist band to be high just like jeans. I also love the color of the stripe top with your darker hair. Definitely learning a lot from the comments about the 16 straight size and 16 plus not being the same cut!
i love the size range of old navy!
old navy is an affordable and accessible store i've always shopped at no matter what size
when i was a size 18 i would go to old navy and know i could find clothes fit me at a reason able price
ow at a size 12/14 i can still go to old navy and find clothes in my size and budget
love your videos and how you may efforts to highlight size inclusive brands!
Yesss! Try Old Navy dresses! Please!!💜
Yeeeees girl to the men's pants - ever since I've quit jeans all I wear are those men's jogger cargos and leggings 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Literally would never think to shop at old navy but those cargo pants are amazing!
I love that you try the belt! I always have a hard time finding belts that fit me right😔 How fun would be a video trying accessories, maybe trying to style them?!😱
yes yes yes please do a video trying on calf length boots!!! literally such a struggle to find!
The light overalls were much cuter than the dark.
Yes!!! Please do another old navy video!!!!
The first video I saw from your channel was trying on different sizes at Old Navy. I can’t believe I’ve been watching you for that long now!
I love carries style SO much!!!
Yes...yes
Yes to the Wide calf boot video! 👢 i need to know where I should shop next time when looking for new winter boots
I’m so glad you made this video! I just started shopping at old navy again and I can’t stop! I would love for you to do a video about the overlap between the larger end of straight sizes to the smaller end of plus sizes because I get so confused. I think it depends on the brand, too.
