Girl with Real Tourettes Reacts to Tiktoker Faking Tourettes | TicsandRoses Edition: Part 3

  • In today's video I address more about how to tell if someone is faking tourettes. A lot of people on TikTok have faked tourettes and it's been really harmful to the community, so I address people like ticsandroses and let viewers know some key signs in how to tell if someone is faking. This video is strictly about reacting to ticsandroses and their faking of tourettes on tiktok.
Check out part one here: • Girl with Real Tourett...
Part two: • Girl with Real Tourett...
As a girl with Tourette's, I would love to spread awareness and education about my disorder, as I feel it is quite misunderstood in today's society. The media has made it out to be a swearing disorder only, which is far from true. I hope this video will educate you on Tourette Syndrome and tic disorders! Life with Tourettes can be difficult, but just know that we're the same as everyone else...except for the fact we tic like clocks! (:
    Thanks for watching!

I do not have Tourette’s syndrome however I empathize with your frustration. I was diagnosed almost 16 years ago with DID from continual abuse. I was ostracized and alone. It has taken me so long to come to terms with it, to learn about it, and to educate family and friends. To see people getting actual attention and using something that brought me shame and was born of trauma on TikTok is infuriating. What’s worse is if you engage with these people, calling them out, all of the sudden your very real diagnosis is being called into question….and honestly I don’t have the energy to fight. It’s so hurtful. I don’t understand this trend of pretending to have rare disorders and diagnoses.

I can totally relate. I have severe ptsd, from multiple different things including abuse and death. I dissociate for weeks or months at a time living on autopilot, not in the same way people with DID do obviously. It's still me, I'm just not connected to reality, my body, or my life. Then I see videos of people showing "wow listen to this with headphones and dissociate oohhhh wooow sooo cool". I effing hate it so much. It's not fun. It's not cool. I can't make myself dissociate, even when I want to. Sometimes when I'm hit with a wave of grief and pain I will literally try to dissociate again to escape the pain and I can't. So to see people staring at the wall acting as if in 10 seconds they can dissociate and have like a trippy fun time is infuriating. It's not fun to forget major details of your life, to not remember people, to be convinced you're dreaming for weeks or months, to not be able to feel anything at all for so long. It's not fun, it's horrible. As I'm sure DID is sometimes, I can only imagine. And I have seen how extreme people will get with it online, just making a mockery of something that is very real and hard for you. I'm so sorry you have to see that. You are valid, the people who matter know that your disorder is real.

The thing that stands out to me is that alot of their physical "tics" are accompanied by vocal "tics" which seems almost like them commentating on the physical aspects so that the viewers always know what the physical tic is supposed to be and that it's supposed to be cute. There are so many videos to show this like the claw hands accompanied by the "rawr", them drawing on their forehead with their makeup while saying "simba" or packing parcels while saying "I'll send you to Canada". It seems like they always want the viewer to know exactly what their tic is supposed to be and that was the biggest red flag for me.

Hi, Carly! You are entirely too nice. Also, I want you to know...every time I order it, or cook it, I now think "I got rice!" I've noticed that most people I see on youtube, or where ever, don't stop to laugh, or even acknowledge their tics. Y'all just keep it moving like it's a normal part of the conversation. Or, when it gets a little much, y'all seem annoyed by them. I get mentioning your tic, sets off your tic. Heck, mention tacos and see if I don't immediately want some dang tacos! (yeah. now I want tacos. lol) I didn't think anyone with Tourette's would drive if they were having a bad day. I've talked to a couple of people that say that if they're cooking and the tics get bad, they walk away from it so they don't hurt themselves, or anyone else. I wish people would stop faking any illness. It's not cool and it only hurts people who legitimately have that illness. I appreciate your kindness and your willingness to spread awareness.

I was diagnosed with Tourette's in 2003 when I was 17 and while it was never severe and it got significantly better as I got older (to the point where I no longer need medication), I have had the same tics for many years. Some new ones have come and gone, but for the most part, I have had less than 10 different tics in the last 20+ years. If I had as many "tics" Tics and Roses claims to have, I would be frustrated and annoyed. I've had ticcing attacks that lasted days and by day 2, I am just so pissed off by my vocal tic. People always associate Tourette's with uncontrollable swearing and I always say, "yeah, I swear a lot, but it isn't because of my Tourette's."

I just found you and love your videos!
What bothers me about these videos is that they pick a "quirky" side of an illness and ignore the ugly one completely. I don't have tourette but a strong case of chronicle migraine, so i can't speak for that but i can relate to things like not being allowed to drive thanks to the illness or taking a lot of strong medicaments. Also stuff like not being taken seriously, searching doctors, friendships and relationships suffer, the list is endless. These fakers need to see that people who have the illness can't stop just because it isn't cool anymore and that is a hurtful thing. We have a saying here "A healthy person has 1000 wishes. a ill person only one."
I wish you all the best!

As someone who is also diagnosed with tourettes I just want to point out that sometimes laughter is a coping mechanism for some people or a nervous response. So laughter in and of itself is not a qualifier for someone faking. I personally laugh at myself just so I don't go crazy or cry. Just a few minutes ago I was talking to my friend and telling him about your videos. Me: I learned something new today!"
My tics without missing a beat: Fuck me!
Me laughs and shakes my head: wow...
Him (he's also diagnosed with tourettes): that's some reward system. I learned something new, so fuck me.
I'm just saying sometimes you have to find humor when there isn't any or you go crazy.

    • @Soupwithbanana
      @Soupwithbanana 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

You are right, everyone copes with it differently. But I think that what she means is that sometimes laughing can be an indicator because of the context in which the tic presents. For example the driving vid. In that situation, a person wouldn't normally laugh because of how dangerous can be to have extreme tics. But yeah, it's just a maybe. Coping mechanisms are very individual and wide.

I find this fascinating, as someone with adhd I can somewhat relate to a lot of the frustrations of people with Tourettes (tho I will never understand exactly how it feels to have Tourette’s). Echolalia is a part of my diagnosis, it tends to happen when I lose focus on a conversation I’m having or if something gets stuck in my head and becomes and intrusive thought. People always think it’s cute beep boops and sure some of it is, but it’s also caused me a lot of trouble. I have a good friend who has a stutter and I have to be ultra conscious when I’m around him because I will unknowingly echo his stutter which makes him feel like I’m mocking him T_T. Or when my spouse is at their wits end because I’ve asked them if they’re thinking about them beans for the 10th time in 5 minutes without realizing. Or how watching your videos, every time the “got rice” tic happens my brain starts singing the song of the same name by AZN pride and I wind up having to back track because it breaks my focus and my mind starts wandering 😂. Anyway, love ur content, keep it up ❤

Just seeing your tics makes me so worried because it looks like it definitely hurt and Im pretty sure it does. So just - it really makes you ask why

thoughts i’ve collected through learning about tics and roses that were obvious giveaways
-whenever they were in public they were quieter and mostly verbal and nonphysical
    -very rarely related tics
-in that one video in which they dipped their hair in their dinner, i feel like they stopped mid-“tic” because they weren’t planning on actually getting their hair in the sauce and it caught them off guard so they interrupted themselves

Hi Miss Carly, let me say first that you are a beautiful soul! Your videos showed up in my feed tonight (it's now after 2am), I've watched all three parts and I must say that while you explain tics and what you go thru on a daily basis, hers are very staged and fake. The "faker" has some problematic psychological disorder(s). I have PTSD, anxiety/depression and watching clips of her has triggered me. She will reap what she sowed and it won't be good. Thank you for getting the real, factual information out there. I know you hate your tics but the "I got rice" is my favorite. I can't eat rice, I can't digest it, LOL. Keep up your informative videos and, YES, please make a part 4. I am a new subscriber 😊 God bless you sweetie!!

When I was in Highschool as a Senior I was a student aide for a special education class, and one of the students I worked with was a freshmen who had Tourette's syndrome and autism. This dude was extremely smart, had amazing humor, and had a huge heart. I legit had no idea any of this was/is going on TikTok since I don't use it, but seeing people faking Tourette's, any form of autism, or disorder, is just sickening to say the least. I'm not sure if people on TikTok fake having ADHD (since I was diagnosed with it at age 7), but I know I'd want to be spreading awareness of that just like you are now. Thank you for having these videos reach people, the world needs to see this stuff.

If the kids faking Tourette’s saw what people who actually have the disorder saw what tics can cause, feeling sleepy and then not sleeping because of your tics, harassment from people and remarks, the pure anxiety of trying to not tic in an awkward situation then maybe the won’t want to have Tourette’s anymore. Another great video and thanks for educating others❤

New sub because I like your approach. Your doing it to raise awareness and education, not for a following. This is a huge issue with an entire generation of people. It's awful that so many people make nero disorders "trend" or when mental conditions "trend" . It definitely influences other people that crave attention but most people with mental or nero disorders want help to control and get their lives in control. Thank you for calling out "fake" people.

I have Autism and my stims feel similar to how you describe tics. I rarely laugh or joke about mine and I try to disguise them. I noticed in one of Roses videos that she mentions gloves to keep from hitting herself. That seems off to me. I am careful about my self harming stims, like I shove my hands in my pockets or I wear thicker clothes to protect myself. I noticed that you also have a few tics like that; what do you do?

Hey, I just found your youtube and I'm liking your content. I have a question about how tourettes effects you. I was wondering if your tics effect your sleeping patterns? Do they wake you up at night or make it hard to fall asleep?
Its makes me sad to see people faking mental illnesses because they make it seem like it is a good thing to have. It spreads false info and it lowers the self esteem of those who actually do have whatever the person is faking. Thank you for making content to help break the stigma!

I think the reason people like tiks and roses fakes stuff like this is to get sympathy which in turn makes people buy from them more
That's probably why she had so many tik toks of her packaging and sending out orders, she wanted to make it look like she was really struggling and make people feel sorry.
But honestly until I came across your channel I didn't know all of this stuff about tourette's. I can only imagine how horrible it must be to live with something that causes you pain and gets in the way of doing stuff all the time.

Seeing your chest getting redder and redder kinda hurts my heart a little bit >< Just a perfect example of when you say that tourettes isn't fun and games or quirky etc. Like you said, it's debilitating.
Also I was thinking about the space bar thing before you mentioned it - it was so... purposeful? It didn't seem like they were... compelled? To do that. It seemed very deliberate and thought out. Like I've watched a lot (too many) of your videos over the last 24 hours, and looking at your tics as an example you present almost identical tics and there's no.. ceremony... about them, if that makes sense.

I’ve noticed this kind of thing with TickTock cringe videos. It’s all about Mental and or neurological disorders, this one, but I think the second most common one might be multiple personalities. Is it any coincidence that they choose very rarely discussed disorders? I believe that these people know that a lot of us aren’t really well-versed in psychology, but are interested enough to want to know more, so they sucker us in to make us think that they have these disorders, but act as stereotypical as possible. I remember when I was a teenager, I wanted to know every little thing about every little disorder, so at my special school, mostly for blind people but turned into an everything‘s cool, I would always hang around the people that I knew had some kind of mental disorder so I could know a little more about them. I thought I was going to come to some grand revelation, but all they seemed to me was just a little strange, immature for their age at the very least, but still very human. These people are around my age range, and it is sad to see that they haven’t grown out of their mental disorders are weird and wacky and you aren’t cool if you don’t have one phase. Sadder still, they haven’t grown out of their wanting to be special phase and combine the two, well, you get people like her.

It’s so freakin hard, particularly with these lesser understood conditions & the tic tok/TH-cam worlds. I have a different condition that has also experienced a lot of these ‘faking for clout’ issues in recent years. People who are faking cause the wider community to misunderstand what the condition actually looks like/the variations in presentations, & contributes to the amount of people who fake claim anyone who’s open about their condition. It’s really isolating to those of us who do have these conditions & sucks. Your points make a lot of sense about this individual. But I just want to say well done on having the courage to share your experience. I look forward to watching some more videos & learning more about Tourette’s from you.

Tourette’s is so interesting. I remember the first time i heard about it, it was on a joke video back during the early days of TH-cam but growing up a little more makes me realize that this is a serious neurological issue. Watching videos like these makes me more aware and also makes me want to learn more for the baby that I’ll eventually that have. Also would you say tics are similar to hiccups? Half cute sounding but annoying as heck?

I do not have Tourette's and I found your channel after YT algorithm for some reason reminded me about TicksandRoses case. I've been watchin your reaction videos and what hits me is how you mentioned in the part 1 that person with Tourette's latch onto other persons' ticks, and that watching ticks or "ticks" might work as a trigger. Please correct if I'm wrong, but this can be seen in your videos! Of course I don't know the "tick severity" you had on the day of recording, but I got a feeling that your brain sometimes slightly mimics the more believable ticks similar you suffer from yourself while having quite constant reaction towards totally fake ones.
    Thank you for spreading awareness!

I’ve seen a few people on TH-cam obviously faking disorders recently. I have a 4 year old son with autism and global developmental delay and worrying about his future, fighting for the right support and getting him to a point he can start to communicate his needs has been an emotional and at time heartbreaking journey. I don’t have Tourette’s myself but I do have IED, which put simply are frequent rage attacks. I get them in situations where I don’t feel comfortable and the involuntary thought I get is to lash out in anger, hopefully getting me out of the situation. I’m not very open about it but being here makes me feel accepted alongside other people with mental disorders too. Very upsetting to see people faking it for views and clout.

I would LOVE to see them try to replicate my neck tics 🤔🤷🏻‍♂️ To speak of their neck tics and other tics 🤷🏻‍♂️Notice they DO NOT look painful at all... Tics are in a reasonable range of motion so they do not strain anything or put themselves at risk of physical harm.... This is a huge tell to me that it is absolute BS

I haven’t been diagnosed with Tourette’s however I do have tics. Personally, I have been clinically diagnosed on 3 separate occasions with autism since age 8. I think my tics are probably caused by that but I’m trying to learn what is really going on. I never even knew what tics were but I have had them for as long as I can remember starting as early as a few years old. I believe I had no idea I had tics for so long was that it was just normal for me, and I’m just now becoming educated, even though I’ve been smacking the back of my head since I was little.
