Thank you for your videos...they are so helpful. As a new weaver, why the toilet paper🤔???

Thank you so much, Elizabeth! I really appreciate your kind words!
Because toilet paper is perforated, it's very easy to remove once your project is off the loom. Plus I like the squishability (pretty sure that isn't a word - ha!) when using it as spacers.
What have you been using? Just curious!

I like the idea of swapping the warp end from one bundle to the other. If you have a warp end of a very different color do you still do this and just have that one off warp end in your tassel? Why do you not to this swapping for twists? I finished my first piece that had a twisted, I got to use my hair twister I got from a garage sale, it worked great.

Hi Susan! I'll swap the yarns no matter the color. But you could tweak the number of yarns in your grouping if that helps.
Yes, I normally do the yarn swap for twists, too. But in my focused attempt to explain the twisty technique, I forgot! Ha!
This falls into the category of do-as-I-say-not-what-actually-happened! I hope that helps!

@@ActonCreative do you recommend the same "swap" if you're hemstitching first?

@@loriledford5389 Oooh Lori, great question! I don't incorporate a lot of hemstitching in my projects. But, ideally the hemstitching would hold everything in place, meaning it wouldn't be necessary to do the swap.
However, I would keep the swap trick in your back pocket in case you feel like the hemstitching needs help keeping your yarns where you want them.
If you play with the combination of both, will you keep me posted? I would love to hear about your experience! Thanks so much for the great question!!

@@ActonCreative it seems using the swap trick would help scarves have more drape, whereas hemstitching might stiffen the piece more, do you agree?

@@loriledford5389 Lori, you have all the great questions - I love it!! I think it depends on how tight your hemstitching is.
I can tell you this. Anytime I know I'm going to twist or braid or knot my ends on a project, I use the tips above. For me, I would definitely incorporate hemstitching for any occasion when I wanted to leave the ends loose and hanging directly from the fabric. But, the cotton yarn I historically use doesn't do well with that application (translation, the ends don't hold their shape & it typically looks ratty). So I go that route very infrequently.
I hope that helps clarify! Let me know how else I can help! Happy Weaving!
