    LYRICS:
    Carry us from the brink.
    Keep us from becoming extinct.
    We let you into our worst nightmares, spouting fiction that left us cowered and scared.
    Follow the guidelines, and you'll save our lives.
    It's sad to see you’re quickly choking on your lies.
    You vulture.
    You’re choking on your lies.
    You vulture.
    We see through your disguise.
    Wishing we could take it all back.
    The beasts in your pack are the worst ones to attack.
    We’ll change course and use a different track.
    The beasts in your pack are the worst ones to attack.
    They will show no mercy.
    Abandonment harbors the most resentment.
    If truth is the backbone you keep on bending it.
    One day it will snap into pieces, so shattered you're never able to mend them.
    They are broken.
    You are broken.
    Heads bowed before us.
    The fearless crumble and crawl.
    Asking forgiveness from all.
    Use the anger, and direct it within.
    This could have been prevented.
    What was completely divided will come together united under the wings of a movement.
    Wishing we could take it all back, change course, and use a different track.
    We'll rip and shred every word you said.
    We will show no mercy.

    Alright so, can anyone help me with this one? I would like to know why this is considered metalcore?
    I just dont understand. I mean, back in my day, something was called metalcore as soon as it had any clean vocals in it. But ABR usually dont.
    Just to clearify, im not trying to bash this. I really love ABR and this song is fucking amazing. Like hands down, one of the best i've heard from them thus far. These guys are real musicians.
    I was just wondering since i saw similar bands that were also called metalcore despite having any clean vocals.

    • @KBROCK3R
      @KBROCK3R 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wade Wilson I really don't consider ABR metalcore anymore. They're just metal for me. Have been for the last 3 albums, IMO.

    • @DooDooDaddyTV
      @DooDooDaddyTV 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So clean vocals actually have very little to do with what the genre is. Metalcore is a blend of hardcore punk and metal influences. The lead guitars switching from sweeping riffs to breakdowns/beatdowns/etc are the signature of metalcore pretty much. There are metalcore bands with all screams, metalcore bands with all cleans, and even metalcore bands with no vocalist at all.

    • @wadewilson7527
      @wadewilson7527 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alright, thanks. Learned something new today.
      I've been listening to Metal for 11 years now. And i think most metalcore bands that i came across, had clean vocals. Actually the vast majority of them.
      But i honestly think, that it was easier to assign a genre to a band back then than it is today. Since there are so many different mixtures of music styles nowadays. And also many bands claim to have there own individual genre. Which makes it really difficult to differentiate what is what and which is which. But in the end it doenst matter anyways. When you like a band, then you enjoy it, no matter what genre they are.

    • @alondite215
      @alondite215 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      "The lead guitars switching from sweeping riffs to breakdowns/beatdowns/etc are the signature of metalcore pretty much. "
      That's really more the signature of pop metalcore.
      Metalcore is really more of a melding of Hardcore's aggression, particularly with regards to drumming and drum patterns, and Metal's more classically-influenced songwriting structure and melodic sensibility.

      They've released essentially the same record 4 times now, and this is sounding like Constellations V. They play it way, way too safe with their songwriting and draw from the same small bag of songwriting concepts for virtually everything they do, with only a sprinkling of "flavor" to differentiate songs from each other.

      @Alon posting your original comment on someone else's as a response doesn't make it more correct.

    • @mozsombi
      @mozsombi 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a bit more complex than that in my opinion but it's true that their are simularites from the last 2 albums at least. The soft middle part for example is in every song they've realised already from this album and in the previous ones too, but i wouldn't say this is constellations V, that was far less melodic and more brutal, but that's just my opinion, pls don't hate me for it. If you watch interviews they always say they're trying to expand the metalcore genre which comes back from their last album compared to messengers for example. What they said about this album is that it's more about the techicallity, that each of them grown a lot while writing this album, maybe it won't be such a huge thing musically or structurally but rather if you observe it from a technical point of view.

    This is really bland and overly safe. The guitar is great, but everything else is just copy/paste, paint-by-numbers ABR. The breakdowns are lame, the interlude is predictable, the vocals are so over-produced it might as well be a robot screaming. Band needs to stop rushing out new material and take a new approach to their songwriting.

      What a smart, thought-provoking comment. What if I told you that attempted dismissal of a position does not, in fact, dismiss it? Shocking, I know.

      jesus man. If you can't hear the genius in this song then maybe this music simply isn't for you. This song and the rest of the album are some of the most masterfully crafted music I have ever heard from a metalcore band. If we are taking the approach that it sounds like their past stuff, you're not wrong. But this album is all of their past stuff, blended together, and made into a super album. This is everything they have ever created into a single album and it is GLORIOUS. If you're looking for another sound or some innovation, go check out bands like The Contortionist or Between The Buried In Me. They have completely switched up their styles. For me, I listen to ABR because I know that they will nail the particular sound I like in metalcore over and over and over again but even better than the last time. They are the most consistently heavy and technical metalcore band out there and I applaud them for sticking to their guns and perfecting what isn't and has never been broken.

      The record has leaked, and it's basically the exact same thing as the last 2 records. It's incredibly safe, as if the band as terrified of alienating even a single fan rather than progressing as artists. I like ABR, but since Leveler, they've been far too one-note. And that's not to say that there haven't been great songs or moments in the last few records, but they're rare and fleeting amidst the sea of bland and predictable sameness.
      It doesn't detract from the quality, but it also doesn't give you a reason to listen to it, or to re-visit it. It's ABR doing what they've done in every album (apart from Thrill Seeker). The breakdowns aren't heavy. They're supposed to *sound* heavy, but there's nothing heavy about a low, chunky guitar doubling over the bass drum, which is essentially every ABR breakdown ever.
      Want to hear a heavy (and vastly superior) breakdown? th-cam.com/video/ljll7rJ6vzM/w-d-xo.htmlm41s . Not only is that breakdown much better, but the song in its entirety is better than ABR's entire catalog.
      The first two songs weren't different. The Frost, in particular, had *four* basically identical breakdowns in a song that isn't even 5 minutes long. This style of breakdown is lazy to begin with, but four of them? That's inexcusable for a band as talented as ABR. The guitar tapping that opens the song is wonderful, but it quickly gives way to same-old ABR and the interest and excitement fades away just as quickly.

      No, the reason I can't hear the genius in this song is because there isn't any, and *because* this music is for me, I've heard a lot of bands that do it a whole lot better.
      If you think this is masterful, you've not experienced a lot of metalcore, or anything other than fast-food metalcore like Asking Alexandria and other bands of their ilk.
      This isn't everything they've ever created. There's not even a hint of Thrill Seeker anywhere on this recrod. It's 90% Rescue & Restore and Found In Far Away Places, with bits of Constellations and Leveler.
      Already intimately familiar with BTBAM and The Contortionist, and own both of their collective discogs.
      ABR hasn't gotten better. Rescue & Restore and Constellations are both great, but Leveler was mediocre at best, apart from a few stand-out tracks, and Found In Far Away Places is just a worse, less varied, and more incongruent and gimmicky version of Rescue & Restore.
      They're neither the most consistently heavy, nor technical metalcore band out there by a long shot. Every Time I Die trends a bit more toward the Hardcore end of the spectrum, but are consistently heavier and flat-out better than ABR. The Dillinger Escape Plan plays circles around ABR with regards to technicality. Dig a little deeper into the genre and you'll find that there are far better bands out there.
      And that's not to say ABR is bad, or even average. They're a good band, and that's why this release is so frustrating.

    The songs we've heard thus far are of TOP quality in all regards. Instrumentally, lyrically and even the song structure is golden. Certainly a contender for metal album of the year. Well done guys.
