- Specimen 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang'. Specimen were the glam horror post-punk band, most known for launching the 'Batcave' club in London around 1982. The club became a fertile dark arts club where interesting artists of the time would perform to the nightlife in-crowd. It was the new hip post-punk scene - only in retrospect tagged 'goth'.
They signed to London Records, first releasing a now rare Batcave compilation (Test Dept, Patti Palladin, Brilliant, etc) and some singles which became a mini-album on Sire in USA. But the success of the club maybe was a distraction. Later they had releases on Flicknife.
A NEW 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang' video-clip has been made by the band with much better quality sound and images, here: • Specimen 'Kiss Kiss Ba...

I signed them and put them in Trident Studios, we brought Seymore Stein to see them at St Albans City Hall and we put the EP together. The Club was there Idea to help finance rehearsals.... It was a great time and I loved there songs , style and along with Killing Joke and some Dark rock bands it was a great time...
+Rusty Egan Killing Joke! Help me Now - Awesome! What great great memories for you! Love!
Saw them twice in 84 or 5 in mi a miami and Gainesville. What a show.
Rusty Egan Thanks so much they are aces top shelf and a very good bunch of lads.
thank you! i bought the Batastrophe ep when i was 15 (around the time it came out. i still listen to it when the mood strikes.
I’d forgotten just how Goth they were, and Ollie really was a great frontman. One of the few bands I never saw, I have this on glorious vinyl. A great trip back to the Gossips memory lane
I remember meeting them at Vinyl Solution in San Mateo. Batastrophe was one of my favorite albums.
I’ll never forget these guys. There I was a girl living in a hick town in Georgia and no one got me.
Went to see Christian Death at a hotel on skid row in DTLA - - - and then... Specimen came on, and it became one of those nights that takes you into another dimension. Top five club gigs of all time.
R.I.P olli wisdom leader singer of specimen.
🦇🦇🖤
Wow - this takes me back - used to hang out with Ollie at the Embassy in ye olden days!
I like this song and video. I love guys in makeup. Guys wearing massacre are so gorgeous.
The video kind of reminds me of the concert scene on 1982's "Alone in the Dark" (really good horror/psychological thriller movie) when Dr. Potter, his way cool sister Toni, and his wife are listening to the song "Chop up Your Mother"!

Uploaded in 2006, one of the pioneer TH-cam posts, LOL.
Sailordude2012 They played this video in every goth club through the 80s
The first video we uploaded was NFD th-cam.com/video/WHpX8yFHvxo/w-d-xo.html on March 29 2006, 13 months after TH-cam launched. Four others came before this Specimen clip (Fields of the Nephilim, Cuddly Toys, Wasted Youth & Sigue Sigue Sputnik), and this went up in October, 10 days after TH-cam was acquired by Google. There was a life before TH-cam!
Kiss kiss bang bang, still a better love story than Twilight
I wish i was alive back then in the 80's to see them live ):
I am so happy to have stumbled on tis classic. I have owned the record forever, but never saw a video prior to this. Ahh technology.
Where's Dr. Frank-n-Furter?! I used to listen to this LP in high school, it rocked. I had no idea they looked quite this theatrical. Love this song. "Hear THIS! Bang bang!"
My all-time fav song!
This is what is wonderful about TH-cam :) you can discover great old songs
Danced to this at Disko Nekro last night. Good times.
The Rocky horror picture show all over me thank you 🤪
Que recuerdos......época de colegio......vivan los 80's!!!
Wow , what great memories this brings back.
My dad was into a lot of the music, never really the aesthetics, but he got me into it. Even when I was really little I used to love Nick Cave. I still do, though that is only a start. I agree with kimberly161 for the most part.
i had the record, it was bat shaped, i must have been about 5yrs old, i loved it
You just gotta love that bass line, good shit man!
nice !!!!! ty
First mention of 'post-punk' I saw in print was a Rolling Stone review of PiL's 'Paris au Printemps' plus JD's 'Closer'...
And some Wire review around the same time...
I played the sh!t out of the Specimen on the radio back in the day...
Wow, I remember seeing these guys years ago what a great show!
what I'd do to meet someone that was at the Batcave back in '82 and knew these people!
I'm wearing a grin about 3 miles wide right now. I used to dance my little punk chick ass off to this song, way back when. Always loved it, always will. Riding high on crashing waves of orgasmic nostalgia right now :-D
(Yes, I'm that old. Shut up.)
Wow, I never thought I'd see any Specimen footage again!
Never forget this from going to the "after hours" club......
God I loved this band. They had an EP in the states that I bought and played the hell out of it. I wouldn't say I was into what become known as goth, but I did listen to 45 Grave and Bauhaus. These guys had a lot better pop sound. Loved the aoustic in Returning from a Journey.
Que recuerdos.......como si fuera ayer......vivan los 80's.
WOW!!! What memories!! Thanks Jungle!
esto es lo que el batcave en realidad es genial esta cancion
GOTH-GLAM At ITS BEST😍 LOVE LOVE😈
that is England currency note written on its fron with king before but ow with queen note released in 2016 SPECIMEN
These guys, Alien Sex Fiend, Christian Death, 45 Grave and a host of others at the time were monumental in my high school years. For those that missed it, start with; Alien Sex Fiend; RIP (Blue Crumb Truck), Christian Death: Romeo’s Distress or Dogs or Deathwish, and Partytime by 45 Grave,
I was a San Francisco goth in the eighties and got to see them at the Mabuhay Garden. Then we went out in the alley, closed our eyes and threw empty bottles at each other. What a way to spend my twenties - but I had the time of my life! Great show too.
Great song; thank you for posting!
damn, havent heard this song in like 6 years! thanks for uploading!
Thank you!
ah ha, excellent, can't believe I just came across this !! Thanks ;}
For free? Hell yes.

Amazing batcave :) great video and song really got some go :) modern day bands like h.i.m are so shite iam so glad the new Death rockers are bringing back the real music and what its all about with soul and meaning.
This is amazing
Cool band. Ashamed I've never heard of them until now.
KLEIN IS A FUCKING MASTER ON THAT GEETAR
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang...love song
@aragorn1780 I have to admit I don't know many current Goths but I get the feeling/impression they're closer to what I would call Emo than we were. But, as ever, the point of Goth was/is to do/wear what makes you happy. Even while you pose and look miserable! ;-))
I have NEVER seen this.....
I had the same record in 1985. Probably not worth much, but I sure would like to have it now.
Well said...
Bravo! They good
@sethbaylock ROCK ON!
ollie Wisdom is now doing Psytrance as SpaceTribe.
awwww this is what i wanted to call my band- oh well 30 odd years late :P
I have this on vinyl...

Love this vid!
Specimen eh TUDO
Dude quit trying to get my shoe seriously ! 🤪👍
Exelente!!!
Specimen is like a batcave kind of band, sorta like deathrock, but more like, wel this, haha. and deathrock isn't only from L.A. most is from UK
song who enter on the our minds!
1983???
Great band!!
I like Manson too xD
Gosh I used to look like that
2019 baby
they just made history in darle music, It is just that...
ptmr muy androgenos estos tios saaa la mejor banda muy buenos
"glam-horror postpunk".....why not just say Gothic? This is quintessential early Gothic music. This sound and deathrock (45 Grave most notably) ruled my early adolescence. Thanks for posting this!
(11 years later we notice and choose to reply...) 'Gothic' wasn't a term used to describe these guys back in the Batcave days. Only later did journalists tag dark and weird post-punk glam bands as 'Gothic'.
@@junglerecordsI also wouldn’t necessarily say purely “goth” is what Specimen were. They were definitely a hodgepodge of styles so that seems more accurate than just saying they’re goth.
Oh My God *-* ♥
hey can ihave the rest of the band members' names? if anyone knows them, if you dont know everyone, then the bassist? thanks... :)
@Lilaeth hmm, so many questions.... for one thing, how does the old '82 batcave scene compare to the modern day explosion that it came to?
killer band.
The former Unwanted frontman fronted this great combo. The Unwanted were great as well.
Crazier back then then now
que buena rola!!!!
there were several rungs on the "Goth" rock ladder, this band was near the bottom.
If you believe there's 'a "Goth" rock ladder', you are completely missing the point.
@@junglerecords there's a quality scale for every genre...miles davis/kenny g...public enemy/vanilla ice, etc. in this case, bauhaus/...you get the point. of course imo.
Well I don't have any goth clubs where I live else I would love to go to a goth club sadly I am the only one where I live who is a fan of the music and understand's the goth subculture and lifestyle... I consider myself this genre because it's my number one Choice of music.
@klakette i totally thougght that too when i first saw the video lol

He sure does!
Why are all videos of this song banned from Facebook???? This is pissing me off.
