    Say what you want, this is way better than what series showed us. Here Geralt survives because of skill, and you can see how he is trying to knock off striga without causing any significant damage. As one method fails after enother, he slowly switches to more and more dangerous means, right up to drawing his silver sword in the end.
    In the series Geralt gets dominated by striga and only survives because of the plot armor.

    The best way to compare this to the Netflix version is to look at what both scenes are trying to accomplish.
    In the game, this is our introduction to Geralt--a badass monster hunter. He is competent, barely struggles, and actually scares off the beast. He only gets hurt because he dropped his guard for the pretty lady. This is what it means to be a Witcher. This is who you get to play as.
    Conversely, by this point in the show, we already know Geralt. We've seen him be a badass. It's a better story if he struggles--especially against a monster that's already killed one Witcher. If Geralt doesn't struggle, we start to wonder if Witchers are all they're cracked up to be and Geralt is only this badass because he's the protagonist.
    I haven't read the books, so I can't make that comparison, but both the show and the game succeed in what they were trying to do and the scenes wouldn't fit properly if you replaced either one with the other.

    Okay, so to everyone complaining about the Striga fight in the Netflix show not being like this or like the book, let me just shed some light on it that might change your viewpoint. Things that work well on paper don't always translate to screen very well. I think the show does a masterful job of portraying the Striga. The writers clearly envisioned this creature like something out of a horror film, and that's what they went for. They pulled it off fantastically. It may not have been 100% faithful to the source material, but it sure as hell worked in scaring the shit out of a lot of people

    Way better than the netflix one. The netflix one has a lot of problems. Rather than fighting in the open ground where the witcher could dodge around, he fought in closed corridor that forceed him to brute force his way through. That's not very smart. He couldn't even seal the entrance and had to race for the coffin bed in the Netflix version.

    • @BFedie518
      @BFedie518 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was more a stylistic choice. Netflix-Geralt uses much subtler magic and uses it less often than Game-Geralt. NG uses a short-burst Aard like four times in the show total, and besides that only uses obvious magic to seal the Striga in the building with him and to seal the lid of the tomb.
      I think it was done to put more emphasis on sword-fighting and to better differentiate between Witcher-magic and mage-magic without spending much time explaining it.
      Plus once he does it once, the audience starts asking why he doesn't do it more often.

    I've never read the books, I watched the Netflix series and played TW3. Idk what Gertalt is like in the books but compared to the fight in the Netflix series this is pretty much night and day. I don't see how people say it's similar. Netflix Geralt was struggling like crazy against the Striga, he was barely able to climb into the tomb with the Striga right on his tail after being beated up pretty badly, similar to how the fight with the TW3 Striga was.
    In this version Geralt's absolutely dominating the Striga in every way. In the beginning he's basically beating the Striga in a fist fight. After that it seems to me like he's almost toying with it, letting the Striga get close at the Igni moment and letting it fly away. He's incredibly nimble, climbing the tower like he's weightless, and after he pulls out the silver sword the Striga runs away in fear like a scared dog, the even added the scared dog sound effect. Geralt then calmly walks to the tomb and locks himself in there, almost like fighting the Striga was an afterthought.
    Thb I like this version a lot. Geralt is incredibly strong after all, and fighting monsters is what he does best so it makes sense that he would do quick work of a single Striga with ample time to prepare. But either this Geralt's way too strong, or the other depictions of Geralt are way too weak, 'cuase there's no comparison between them.

      Geralt usually overcomes anything in the books. He's not a mumbling buffon who doesn't express much opinion about anything unlike in the show, he's not as quippy as he's in games either, but that's because he spends most of the books with some relentless chase that he's not enjoying at all.
      He is more violent, not someone you'd wanna cross, doesn't draw his blade that qucikly, but once he does, usually maimes, butchers or severely traumatises people who face him.
      He's also quiet unpredictable, when faced with impossible choices, he does't he least probable thing
