Loved the great stuff at the market I set up for many years in ohio then the big one in Tennessee finally Florida loved it but alas I can only watch now 83 years young
When we were first married we ran a farm and lived in a very old house. Almost all the floors were done in Linoleum. Thing is they were like oriental rugs in their patterns and in good shape. I loved them. This was almost 50 years ago. Canada. 🍁 Super show George!
While working in Texas @ a Pediatric clinic, we had several children come in with elevated lead levels. The Health Department investigated and found a fruit and vegetable stand using plastic bags printed in Mexico. The red ink used on the bags was the culprit. So, it’s not only dishes you have to be careful with. I really enjoyed this trip to the market. Some very interesting and unique items. Thank you George for taking us along ‼️
You had to show the Roost. I think I need to build one in my backyard. Never mind the fines the city will impose. I’m already naming the hens I don’t own yet.
Well, other than the Fenton table and the ruby flash, I didn't see so much at that show--I think maybe because it was windy, dealers didn't put it out that day
Loved the nylon frieze chair. Growing up, that was the kind of upholstery everyone in the neighborhood had. Around 1990, I got my great aunt’s sofa and chair set - unless you have pets, that furniture lasted forever! (It did go to the basement, though 😂) Unlike today, where furniture looks old after just a couple years.
Good evening, George! I could've used that galvanised hen nesting box, when we lived in the country, I had a lot of chickens and we never had to buy eggs. I had to build hen nests for mine. I've always wanted an old, all-wood croquet set, but there's just no space for one here. There was what looked like a Warwick tankard, on the table where the bagpiper figure was. That really caught my eye. Loved the angle lamp...me and my thing for antique oil lamps🙃😂 That pickled bamboo almost made me flip! I love that stuff! That scale was fantastic. It would look really good as a centerpiece on a dining table. There were a ton of interesting items there! I'd enjoy shopping a place like that, for sure! Thanks for the take-along!!!
You are catching the Warwick in my videos, I am starting to notice it because it's one of those true antique items collectors overlook! I didn't realize hens would roost together, apparently that is a rather large roost. The angle lamp would've gone home with me if he could've told me the source of the shades with more certainty! I also love pickled bamboo, and the scale was the best I've seen in ages. I can't wait for them to reopen in Spring!
@@TheAntiqueNomad I like most of the colour schemes of Warwick, especially the browns and tans, so it tends to draw my attention. Well, that was actually a nesting box where they would lay eggs. They don't actually roost in those most of the time. They do roost together, though. I'd love to see one of the angle lamps with the globes on it. I've never seen one of those. That old bamboo is actually a lot stronger than it looks. I used to have a corner chair in it, and it was very sturdy...wish I still had it. Had that scale been restored? That thing was fantastic!
@@elderlypoodle9181 It was a lot of fun, as well as never having to buy eggs. I also had ducks, and their eggs make the best cakes. They are a lot "richer" than hen eggs.
I would love to learn more about antique carpets. I have a beautiful one that was in my grandparents home when I was born 1955 and I inherited it in 2018.
I live in Georgia and we rarely see Arts and Crafts furniture , Do you ever go to Scott's or Lakewood in Atlanta ? Scott's has so many old things that you don't see everyday. I would know you anywhere . I love the hunt !
I hope to get up there this Winter! I went in October last year and it wasn't good, lots of reproductions and half empty. I hear that's the worst month of the year to go though
Thank you George. I'm always surprised by the inexpensive furniture. In the PNW I feel as though it would be 50-100% higher priced. One thing to be said about the uncomfortable upholstery, it wore like iron. I'm looking for a piece of Roseville. I have a pedestal, the jardiniere was a tragic victim of my now 35 year old nephew. My mom eventually forgave his parents, LOL.
Aww poor kid probably never lived it down! What pattern? I do think the furniture still runs higher in the pnw because there is more influx of people furnishing new houses
George, When did the “fairy lamps” come out? Seems like they were made for little votive candles, which I thought weren’t made until the 70’s. But I might have dreamed that… I like the Italian tapestries.
Actually, the Victorians in England came up with them because they used them as nightlights in their windows...a famous firm named Clarke's made the originals. People made their own candles then so they could shape to fit
Hi George, in regards to the old loom you mentioned, is $40 a good price for that size and age? Asking for a friend. I have way too many projects going myself. 😉
I love old linoleum patterns, too!
What a beautiful day
I almost feel like I am walking along with you all ! Fun
George I love that you're a dog person!
Thank you for all the info you sharevwith viewers ❤

Great video George! Thanks for sharing!

Outdoor linens for a windy day. Use bottom sheets. The corner pockets will keep them from blowing.
Good idea! I honestly avoid linens on tables at outdoor shows because they catch dirt as well

How neat! We miss you folks who have retired, but thank you for all the knowledge and enthusiasm for it that you imparted to this generation
Those were chicken nesting boxes where the hens laid their eggs.
I didn't realize there was a difference from a regular roost! Good to know
Thanks for taking us along on another of your adventures.
Such fun to go to fllea Market s with u two !!!

We moved into an old farmhouse that had a great room sized 1930s orange deco linoleum sheet! I’d love to have seen your house full of them
My mother would say "If Martha Stewart jumped off a bridge - would you jump, too?"
I wouldn't, but some decorators would!
Oranges were prevalent in the 70's, the legacy of that in Canada is A&W, a burger restaurant, orange and brown are all over them.
That's right! I like hitting A&W north of the border, sometimes the poutine is not bad
This was so fun! Thank you.💕
You are so welcome!

Fun video. I need to go there.
You should! I highly recommend it

I've thought about it a lot myself, but I travel too much...I'd have scrambled chickens when I came home
@@TheAntiqueNomad Lol 😆
Love your shows!
I live about 20 minutes from Dawson Springs.
Thank you! It's cool that you're in the neighborhood, hopefully I'll get a good estate sale there or see you at the auction in town
@@TheAntiqueNomad yes, would love that😁
$145.00 for that automan is a little pricey. That sled is a awesome idea. So many goodies.
Agreed on all points
Those weird head things, crazy lamp lady had the cat one and it was painted. Great video
Yes! I don't know if she ever figured out what it was originally for either
You were in my old stomping grounds…love that flea market…great bargains to be had there on the right day.
That's true!
Hard to find a video I haven't watched, always good to rewatch and keep that knowledge flowing. ✌🏼💚✌🏼💚
Potato chips! Yay!
Yes! Lol

I haven't been in awhile! If I run into enough of the right stuff, I'll do that show sometime

Very nice! It is at least semi-antique (50-100 years) now. Would be interesting to know materials and style!
I love the old oak furniture enjoyed the video thanks for sharing
You'll like the next video too then!
I have one of those barrel making hammers George.

It's always so interesting to see what is available in other areas of the US, the Northeast is pretty boring.
I did okay at an outdoor market in New Hampshire when I was there but it was not as full as this

Tri-State Antique Market, Lawrenceburg, Indiana (warm months only)
That “ french “ laundry basket is very expensive online . I almost bought one .I can’t remember who was the retailer.
I imagine so, they're popular with decorators now
Hi George & Xeno 🎉
Hello to you!
💖
❤❤❤
Hi. Everyone!
Hi! Glad to see you in the comments!
How do you know if it’s a cigarette box as opposed to just a box with a lid? Just a question I’ve had for awhile and thought now is the perfect time 😁
They're best sold now as just boxes, but back in the day they were usually on tables with a matching lighter and ashtrays
