Chad's disease had taken everything from him. When he went into the Darkest Dungeon that day, he'd hoped he'd never come back out again. But he did. And to this day, the cultists still whisper fearfully about him. Him and his big ol' heart, his trusty focus ring, and his several gallons of blood.
Imagine the heir and the rest seeing him after that. Yelling what the hell was he thinking going in there alone without telling anyone. Then he just.. tosses the head of the boss to the floor and leaves without a word to have a drink at the inn.
Me: pines over trinkets, spends weeks stalling to optimize quirks, and spends a fortune on assorted quest resources, and will still have a 50-50 chance of not coming back and loosing four heroes. TVS: "Give me a leper, some blood, some crystals, and an empty hallway, and I'll take care of your eldritch horror 'problem' ".
you can even switch them while starting a room fight (press c button while entering a room) and be able to switch skills and trinkets. Not too impactful outside of endless bosses and ambushes though, but you can pull off some shenanigans with QuickDrawCharm, use it for the speed roll then take it off.

To be fair, beating necro isn’t necessary to win since the DDs are available from the start, but Leper can still solo him by using Withstand and getting 80% prot, and just spamming Intimidate till he drops. Stress isn’t even an issue since you can virtue cheese in earlier fights and just let stress get reset once it reaches 200. I think i’ve even seen a video of it actually.
I would have given up and just quit-out scummed the virtue check until I got what I want rather than making a hundred trips down that hallway. Respect.

I've abandoned countless quests because I was like "ah shit I brought the vestal with the front line abilities, no healing I guess"! Come on!
Funny story: did the first courtyard quest with leper, bounty hunter, plague doctor and vestal. Long story short: crocodilian battle and leper and BH got virtues (focused for leper and stalwart for BH) and everyone else died. Best part is BH was on death's door after the fight and leper still had like 80% health left

Yeah! You just have to drop stress down pretty low, which is hard to do if you're on a Short quest or you don't have any wood.
Yeah if you get zero stress you lose the affliction like when you reach 200 stress you lose virtues
