Abi Marquez, the Lumpia Queen, is something else. Her collaborations with renowned international cooks, introducing to them and sharing Filipino cuisine and cooking techniques and methods deserves to be lauded. This sharing is her way to help introduce Filipino food to the rest of the world. You feel her passion and love for cooking coming across from the screen as you watch her.
Also good job to our DFA for this production. Kudos.
Abi is the Philippines' top food ambassador for this generation. Keep up doing the good work!
Agreed 100% I like Chef Alvin and all the Filipinos who are repping online, but her knowledge of traditional recipes, willing to experiment, sense of adventure, and her amazing speaking really makes her a natural with skills to reckon with.
And even though I’m fil-am, I think our representative should be from and in the Philippines.
100 % agreed😊
Agree!

Filipino-Indian here. Watching this makes my whole life 360 😅🥰❤. Please add the recipe!!!!
Sepoys is a term denoting India's infantry men, traditionally armed with muskets during British presence in the Philippines. Most sepoys who came in Cainta are the ones who refused the british command. Due to Brits mistreatment of this Sepoys most have revolted and some have refused to come back to their ships thus most Sepoys during their travel to Manila have fled to the town of Cainta. In time, some have gone through Taytay and even as far as Morong. Back in the 80's the kakanin's, biko, suman and other sweets were top notch in Cainta since most of them are cooked in larged Pugon's. To where we once do our summer jobs after school ends. To this day, those Pugon's and cookery have long been banished. We are the last generation to witness their cooking style.
It was also a Tamil King who ruled Cebu, who accepted Christianity, which ultimately lead Philippines to Christianity in its entirety 500 years ago.
DFA, DO THIS ALL THE TIME, PLEASE. ❤
In Middle Eastern countries, it's often better to eat at an Indian restaurant or choose Indian food. The portions are usually large, the prices are affordable, and the food is delicious. In comparison, Filipino food tends to be more expensive, with portions that are small and measured.
Thank you so much for the correct English CC, as it helps the Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, and non-Filipino speakers.
More collaborations with great channels like FEATR please
I am an Indian national living in the Philippines, for me, Star Punjabi food is substandard. Loved the fusion kare-kare, thanks for sharing.
Hi, what would you recommend as the best indian restaurant in the Philippines?
@@barrylavides I personally like New Bombay and Kashmir. Good food and decent pricing.
Can’t agree more even my Filipino frnds didn’t like the food from star for people in or around cainta give Punjabi haveli pricing is almost same but taste is better
@@ayoobbhiwandiwala2456 Kashmir in BGC? I think it's permanently closed already
Good Indian and Filipino ❤ fusion.Maybe try adding kashmiri chili powder to bring color to the dish..
Abi is in a different level. he can switch from a wacky vlogger to formal documentary host.
Thank you for this DFA! It's about time that Philippines promote Gastrodiplomacy.
It's always informative and entertaining to watch Abi Marquez do her stuff. Thank you Featr and DFA for this.
Finallllllllyyyyy DFA!!! Amazing job for this one!❤
As a Filipino-Indian, this made my day, Abi. TYSM po ❤ and good job
I love this! Kulang na lang siguro is having the chefs and the food historian to taste the food as well and listen to their thoughts. If di na kaya dahil sa distance or logistics, maybe having another chef or food historian to review the fusion as well.
As a cook, a foodie,.a.Kapampangan I will try this dish for sure. Will leave a message once I tried. More power Abi.
Love this Abi! I'm a home chef and love both Filipino and Indian food, this was such an unexpected fusion. Why did I think that Kare Kare was more closely related to Thai food, but really it is closer to Indian stews!
I love what you do Abi, working in Kuwait makes me so immerge into arab & indian food cuisine with the mix of all Filipino dishes rolled into one. Here, I've got the chance of having these three whichever I choose to eat & combine very possible 😁. When you have these flavorful dishes & menu from the three, you will develop cravings of what you will eat next 😂. Thank you Abi, you're such a beauty with so muchflavors in life… 😍🇵🇭
we can see in many indian recipes that they use cashews in many of their recipes, and india is one of the biggest exporters of cashew. I think the use of peanuts in filipino kare kare was to replace cashew nuts that were not as common in the philippines as they were in india
YESSSS WE GOT ABIIIII!!!!!!
Quite a remarkable host, vlogger with a very curious mind. I very much enjoy your entertaining and knowledgeable take on a food culture. Outstanding. Keep up the great work and thank you!
2:53 that's our ancestral house hahaha love it!
HAHAHA the kare kare story just made me think of a comedian who joked about it. Curry so good they named it twice. 😂
grabe para anthony bourdain yung quality ng review at video! keep it up!
Superb episode that essentially brought out flavors from both India and the Philippines. Mouthwatering to watch! I'm going to try making kare kare fusion as shown here for my filipino friends, all kabampamgans!
this is a great hit... very good to hear history from food....
Kare-Kare Queen, keep up the good work Abi, God bless you🙏
Great Fil-Indi fusion Ms. Abi...Thank you...Will definitely try this fusion...☺☺☺
i love indian food. esp butter chicken!!!!!
The government should work for direct flights from India to the Philippines and vice versa. These days, Indians have to transit via Thailand or Malaysia, and most of my few Indian friends say they're already happy vacationing in BKK or KL and don't consider heading to MNL.
Besides, visas are not granted to Indians on arrival in Philippines, whereas Filipinos are granted visa on arrival in India!
A Schengen type visa introduced jointly by Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia gives easy access to these countries.
I think Philippines is isolated from this arrangement.
Besides, lack of direct flights, being more expensive makes Philippines a lesser option for Indians.
@@oneworld797 im not complaining, PH is already overcrowded and jobs are hard to come by. Better that filipinos get them than foreigners.
@@stuka80 No relavence to my comment.
Neither were the op and your comment to the video topic about food, yet here we are.
@@stuka80 Don't think you're qualified to comment on my other comment on Indian food either.
Your video is just an amateurish review of food served by Indian joints in Philippines, and not the influence of Indian food in Philippines.
Wow It's ABI!!!
by adding 3 spices you just made kare kare a much better dish! thanks for sharing
this is a high quality content. great video!
Interesting, I will also try Abi's recipe ❤. Nice video by the way
Just WOW!!!🤩
props to the researcher/s!
Matry nga thanks for the recipe ms. Abi
SUPER LOVE! ❤❤❤
ang lakas ng loob. grabe. panaloooooo
Before Spanish colonization...Nging part tau ng Chola Dynasty Tamil Nadu...
🤩🤩🤩
Very memorable sakin yang first time ko nakatikim ng Indian Curry at Mutton Biryani sa Al Khobar, KSA. The aroma was intense and so more was the taste. Habang kumakain ako is namumuo yun butil-butil na pawis sa bumbunan ko habang tumutulo sipon ko at paminsan-minsang gas sa likod ko 😅
Forgot to mention na na-adik na ako sa Indian Cuisine after that ❤
❤❤❤
I wish you delved more into making timpla the new fusion dish. Like ay kulang ng salt or sugar or coriander or coconut until maging perfect na. Aside from that, ganda ng videoooo
Ang sarap sarap na food naman yan. ❤❤❤
Carinderia is a Spanish we borrowed and spelled in Tagalog Karinderia
watching because of abi 😅
❤
Able to enjoy Indian food without going to India is a plus. Especially if you're a woman.
Sure yan super yummy po yan maam.2 n 1 pilipino and indian fud
Indian cuisine is rich, I'd like ti cook an indian dish someday
Honeslty pag napupunta ako sa buffet, indian cuisine tlga mga hinahanap ko. Kakaiba ang aroma at lasa ng pagkain nila hnd siya basic lang.
Gumaganda na c ate girl !! ❤

my fav pinoy fooddddddddd
delicious food yummy

here in the Dubai, UAE, natutuwa ang mga South Asians like Indians kapag nakakain namin yung mga different types of curry dishes. at least to me, nasanay na ang palate ko sa anghang ng food nila. yung different mixes ng spices or Masala. wag ko lang malaman, though may idea ako, paano minekus mekus nila ung food. basta masarap. haha.
I worked in Riyadh and UAE too, Indian dish have minimal to medium spicyness the real spicy dish are Sri Lankan dishes. Even Pakistani or Afghan dish are great too and less spicy.
the British brought Sepoy (indian troops). aside from the trades earlier, India is 10X bigger than the Philippines imagine the different kind of cuisines or even diff kinds of curry or garam masala they have there. Its never ending. But the best cuisine i ever tried was Indian.
cheers!1
Abi, the mutton in the recipe, is it goat or lamb?
TIL that Featr is pronounced as /fichur/"feature" pala. I have always thought na it's Fituhr-/fiter/
Pde na maging makabagong bayani ng pagkaing Pilipino c Miss Abi hehe
matabang yung luto ng chef di lang masabi ni Abi. Strong flavor lang ng spices malalasahan nya.
Indian food is really good i love eating it.
UP Fight Abi!
You must have a strong stomach to handle mutton so well on your first try! I've been in Saudi Arabia for over a decade, and that's the one dish I still can't manage to swallow.. Your own version I'm sure is more submissive if you used beef or pork.
Bahay kayo ni Chef hmmm❤
I love curry even my japanese curry i put a tons onions😋
Hi Abi ✌🏽
I like kare kare escept for bagong.
for me bagoong is a must.
You mentioned that the Sepoys settled in Cainta. Why then are you in Pampanga? And isn’t this supposed to be a collaborative effort between DFA and DOT? This could very well be a DOT project
Maganda yung video pero
Sino ba kaseng nag edit nyan
Dilng tnanggal sa part
"Kapag nagmamadali ka just grab the didi" It sounds inappropriate
Nothing against this video, but DFA has time for this but they can’t facilitate evisa for Indian spouses living in PH? Priorities. 🤷🏻♀️
This one's from a different office naman. Siguro don't look at it as one effort lang.
@@jay-cee6779 being someone who worked for government for more than a decade, I know that this should be their comms office. What I’m saying is that, what they should highlight are the things that they are doing that matters, like how else are they strengthening the bilateral relationship with India like visa process, etc. Sana manlang Hindi Lang sila nagbayad ng celebrity to stand on their behalf. They could have thought better. :)
Cainta mentioned.
Hindi ubos food.... Yun gusto ng mga chef....
It's obvious from this video the Filipinos have forgotten their pre-colonial Hindu-Buddhist roots. Trade between the Philippines and India go way before the British Occupation
ako na nag work d2 sa middle east umay na sa indian food🤣
Pakistani masarap din dish nila, bulto bulto pa yung meat na ilalapag sa iyo. Mura mga resto dyan sa mga bandang industrial area.
and the final result is like rendang kare kare
Recipe please 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Chef Rohit looks like a Filipino 😄
Now time to make tgat dish into lumpia 😅
Ganda naman ni Miles Ocampo
they don't even look close bruh
They also made a lot of trading using tribal ship / balanghay. Kaya naturally, Navy powerhouse ang ASEAN.
Onions should be minced Abi
Kaya lng nman aq nanood kc nkita ko si lumpia qieen..
Chef Rohit looks like more Mauritian than Indian 😅
Indian content... But Arabian music... 😅😅

Mekus! Mekus! mu na yan Abi! 😄😄😄
Hindi has the same word for soap. Sabon
Surprised na walang vegie sa indian food, as most indians are vegetarian
