Errol is designed to be the perfect example of who Jak would be if he was evil, in fact, the Dark Makers' offer to give Errol power is much similar to the Precursors' relationship with Jak.

I always felt like Erol was one of the series' biggest missed opportunity. It would have been interesting to see a Goku/Vegeta relationship develop between Jak and Erol. Enemies that become rivals that become friends. Like have him survive the events of Jak 2 in his human form and be forced to team up with resistance to defend the city during Jak 3, like being a member of the counsil with the count. Perhaps there could have been a situation where it's revealed that Erol could channel Eco and absorbed dark eco to become a dark warrior like Jak and they have a confrontation dark Jak vs dark erol. Idk, it always sounded like a big missed opportunity for a great character arc

Also have him as a team member in some missions like Sig and Ashelin did. Errol should have a Dark Eco assault rifle designed specifically for him plus his mask could help find almost anything with a tracking system similar to the Predator. At the start of Jak 3 he could just try to beat Jak on being the hero of the city and on the middle of the game it could become more of a rivalry and at the Jak and Errol have much respect for each other. Both would sometimes complement each other on being great shooters and Perfect for combat, if multiplayer could be possible than you could use Sig, Ashelin, and Errol to assist Jak.

  • @NotOrdinaryInGames

I thought it was very simple. Errol did not outright die, but was severely damaged and in critical condition. Being Praxis' top soldier, he got the top treatment. Too valuable to just give up on, all his "broken beyond repair" body parts were replaced with cybernetics. After THAT, the balance of power shifted quickly. With Praxis gone, nobody cared to keep watch over Errol, who was sufficiently fixed by then. He went his own way, wherever THAT was. He escaped. Due to likely hating his prior puny squishie body for being too weak and letting him lose against Jak, Errol made further modifications to make himself stronger, perhaps even less human.
What was his deal with the metalheads? After his near death, he gave up caring about honor and rules altogether. He fully gave into his destructive side, only caring for power and DESTRUCTION now. He made a deal with SOME metalheads who were in dire need of A leader, to have some extra minions, in addition to robots.
How did he came into contact with the Dark Makers™? Does not matter. Could have contacted him I guess, maybe he was looking into a telescope one night. Either way, they promised him power, and enough of it to DESTROY EVERYTHING. He could not have agreed quicker.
And about his personality. He was part destructive sadist, part strict rule abiding soldier guy. His near death erased what little love for law that was left, and left a videogame villain who wants to DESTROY THE WORLD.
All of this was meticulously constructed in about 10 minutes, with pure logic, using only what the game tells you as a starting point.

    • @stardogsmasher6217
      @stardogsmasher6217 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Well, speaking of body broken beyond repair, I just came up with a theory. What if Errol schedule something to the Crimson Guard to reconstruct parts of his body but we're either successful or not. I mean, Vin somehow transferred his mind into the Eco Power Grid during the end of Jak 2, maybe the Crimson Guard had that in mind, but probably used it when to store Errol's conscious in the memory banks for a certain amount of time until his body was reconstructed and complete so he wouldn't fell the pain and suffering. Then Gol and Maia made contact of the Dark Makers to find Errol and use him for their plans in Jak 3. Having the Dark Makers invade the Crimson Guard's base to retrieve Errol for upgrades on his robotic body in exchange to help them take over the world.

When you look at the few cutscens with Erol in them, you can recognise how crazy he gets over Jak. At the beginning, he's all confident and kind of mocking him in prison. Erol really has fun torturing Jak there and having all control over him. Plus, Praxis told him to get rid of Jak which Erol couldn't do because his "victim" escaped.
I think, that's the point where Erol begins to turn crazy. He lost his control over Jak and couldn't fulfill the Baron's task to kill him off, which must have bothered him at some point. He later confronts him at Keira's garage, acting confident. In that scene, you can see that Erol is more aggressive towards Jak and that he still tries to have control over him (manipulate Jak to get angry towards Keira) in which he succeeds first.
However, in Krew's bar, Erol challenges Jak for a race. He seems to have lost all his calmness and just wants to beat him and prove to Jak (and probably to himself, too) that he's still better than his former prisoner, this "disgusting Eco Freak". It already looks like mania at this point, I think.
Eventually, they have their final race against each other and Erol was sure to win, but he didn't. Jak humiliated Erol by demonstrating him in front of thousands of people that he lost to someone he thought smaller of, some worthless creature, who had been Erol's plaything. I think that was the moment when Erol lost the rest of his common sense and turned totally blind, he just wanted to kill Jak, no matter what and faded out completely.
So, yeah, that's my guess why he drove into the dark eco. But IMO he should have just stayed dead after this incident.

I always believed that the Dark Makers helped revived Errol after he crashed into the dark barrels. If you look at the Dark Maker troopers, their body (especially if you look at their legs) look very similar to those of Errol's cyber legs. I think he helped the Dark Makers with the belief that he could control them like he did with the Metal Heads and the Krimzon Guard/Krimzon Guard Death Bots.

My guess for Errol's motives was he thought the world betrayed him. He wanted Keira. He wanted glory. He wanted to defeat Jak. But he crashed into the eco and felt the world tried to destroy him, that they ALL tried to conspire against him. His mechanical reformation and exposure to all that eco probably escalated this paranoia and obsession ten-fold, so Cyber Errol wants nothing more than to take revenge on the world that tried to destroy him. Dark Makers could have also fed into this motives, giving them the perfect puppet for their schemes.

Can it be possible that the dark makers is corrupting his machinery. If people are cyborgs like Errol is right now is possible that a virus or a evil spirits or something can corrupt his mind since he still have his human brain. Or he is forced to do this because you never know if the dark makers can turn on him after he give them their goal to destroy or concord the world. That will be the same with Baron Praxis if he did the same thing early or later on in Jak 2 if he achieved his goal for Kor and he don't need any sidekicks (like Errol) to get in the way of things. Hmmmmmm that's a great idea for the story for the game in my opinion.

My guess is that Erol didn't die, but was left with a completely broken body and a mind driven insane by the dark eco. Post the end of Jak 2 Erol is practically a vegetable hooked up to machines in the war factory controlling the crimson guard robots for revenge. Which is when the Dark Makers establishes contact with him, they offer him the tech and knowledge to replace his broken body in return for him softening up the world before they arrive.

See i always assumed that Errol was one of the earliest Dark Warrior experiments. I'm sure it's implied that there were more attempts to create a Dark Warrior before Jak. Especially when you consider that Baron Praxis was certain Jak should've at least been dead by this point.
My theory is that Errol began experimenting on himself in secret, while he's always been more or less unhinged, it seems to get worse during the progression of Jak 2 to the point he actually blows himself up (by mistake obviously.) I assumed that the Dark Maker's (as you said) must have sensed him and my theory is that they began to whisper to him from across the stars.
I have another theory that ties into this one, it's a bit farfetched and i'm probably grasping at straws but i also think it would've brought the series to a nice full-circle too...Part of this theory was inspired by Dragon Age Origins, how the Arch-Demon's Demons organise the Dark Spawn to start the Blight's.
Okay in my second theory Gol and Maia are the ones who called to the Dark Maker's, it's been heavily implied that the two of them are very much alive down there, and we have no idea how powerful they are (could be) at this point in the games lore.
Perhaps all that time immersed in Dark Eco made them powerful enough to telepathically reach out to the Dark Maker's so they would come to their world, release them, and then they cold finish what they started in the events of Precursor Legacy. I mean their goals are almost exactly the same.
Now here's my theory on how Errol would tie into this (if my theory about him experimenting on himself is true) Gol and Maia sensed Errol's hatred of their own ancient enemies, my theory is that they whispered to Errol from their prison, put him in contact with the Dark Maker's with the intention of using Errol's hatred of their common enemy to pull his strings and deal with Jak and Daxter before they escaped, the problem is they underestimated how rash Errol, he was a loose cannon who ultimately let his own vendetta ruin their plans.
Basically those are my theories. Totally grasping at straws, but i like these theories.

Yes in Daxter it was specifically stated that others were used to try and make a soldier, but died. Believe me, I too had a similar theory of Gol & Maia. They've been in contact with Dark Eco for so long that they were able to communicate, also dark eco can be used other than destruction purposes, is telepathy one of them as you mentioned?

    • @insertedgynamehere___969
      @insertedgynamehere___969 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

It is the dark eco (both of then having it)that allows them to connect to each other, like when only Jak was connected to the dark maker ship systems and Daxter was unaffected (because his body was changed by dark eco and wasn't in him, like with Jak). This could explain the theorised telepathy

    • @s0urcl0ut
      @s0urcl0ut 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@VtnVivi telepathy would make a lot of sense. It would explain how a colony of Dark Makers could keep in contact with a central leadership x amount of light years away.
My headcanon is that the Dark Makers choose a hateful "champion" as their inside man on Jak's planet every few centuries or so. Gol and Maia lost, their Precursor war machine was destroyed and they failed to open the Silos. Fast forward 300ish years and the Dark Maker ship was finally in range for a new champion to be selected: Errol

  • @Theottselmaster
    @Theottselmaster 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I still think the "Dark Makers" we see are nothing but scouts and drones. You wouldnt send your own if you can send a ship full of troops. Not to mention the wreakage from the ship could allow survivors or tech to be collected in Jaks world by another faction. (Gol and Maia would be awesome)

He actually thought that the Dark Makers was on his side but little did he know that once the planet is gone the Dark Makers will just kill him and be done with it. So yeah Errol is delusional and stupid.
Also the Dark Makers manipulated Errol because they was probably impressed how Errol can manipulate the Metal Heads. So they knew that manipulating him would be a piece of cake.

The eco shipments and cargo are normally Dark Eco, the winning prize was probably a mix of ecos including dark eco, which would make sense of why it exploded regardless of whatever else is there. The human use of Dark Eco is interesting, seems they do something to it and it becomes more like a fuel or source of energy, they use it as oil and in weapons. Looking at how the only way to contain/store/handle it originally was precursor metals it must still be easy to explode like in Jak 1 when in crates.
Otherwise they’d just scoop it off the ground, but even then, a pool of the stuff destroys even a creature imbued with Dark Eco.
I think what’s more interesting is that Baron Praxis wanted Erol to win and then he would award and celebrate it… but it’d all come back to him so it is meaningless. The Eco was most likely just to show his generosity, even though he never intended to hand it to anyone other than Erol as a publicity move.
Cyber Errol’s design is similar to the bipedal robots, but if you also look closely, he’s still his full human body frame just incased and extended at the feet.
The damage to his body was probably not completely fatal and left him in a disfigured state. But otherwise, if you remove the arm armour and the extension of where his toes of his foot would be, he’s pretty much the same build.
Seems the Baron took him back with him after telling everyone to chase Jak down. And dumped him in a bay as another experiment as he was creating his final weapons for the metal head attack at that time.
As much as it could be argued that Jak3’s plot just makes no sense. I’d argue that Jak2 was an amalgamation of good ideas that they struggled to make into a coherent story, also, barely a balanced game.
I love these games and I’ve been playing them for years, only just managed to make my computer play the first one and hoping I can get all of them on computer. But it does seem that there’s a lot missing in Jak2, cut or dropped, but loads of ideas and world building things. You do see a bunch of it in Jak 3 though.

I'm thinking of the Drill Platform being repurposed! It already floats above Snowy Mountain (the nostalgia of Jak One locations being reused is brilliant) as it harvests Eco. Rather than start from scratch, the Baron's crippled empire would just repurpose the defunct Drill Platform into the War Factory.
I'm 95% convinced the Baron would stop mass harvesting eco when he realizes he still isn't making enough to reach the quota to honour his deal with Metal Kor. That and the Underground keeps destroying all his eco reserves.
At some point between Jak 2 and 3, Errol has taken over the new War Factory and has united the KG Deathbots and Metalheads that invaded via the Underport. After the Palace falls, the War Factory moves into position to keep the war of attrition squeezing the Freedom League on two fronts.

I consider Errol losing his mask as a metaphor for him refusing to deny his darkest side anymore: he completely gives himself to his destructive behavior and his inherent selfishness takes over.

If you really want to know what happened to him in the best I explanation I can provide, his muscles and organic body parts are manually rearranged, joined back together and there would be machinery that puts him in a process to attach robotic parts to his nerves and other areas as careful as possible. Want an example what the machinery would be like? There's this machine from AcceleRacers instagram.com/p/CDweb9Sn2rH/?igshid=1o3auslk6fway and it's devastating what Kadeem became cause of it because his diaphragm was carved precisely by a laser from one of the tools and lower body had green wires plugged up where the organs were but they never showed the process because the movie is meant to be family friendly and it's complicated.

Well yes but my question is who exactly operated and repaired Errol's body? Did he do it to himself? That can't be because his body would have been too damaged and weakened to stand up. Did Praxis do it? Maybe off camera Praxis had Errol's body discovered and ordered to have his body operated. One things for sure is that the operation and surgery must have been too painful for Errol's body and mind to the point where his humanity was decreasing and he was driven insane and evil. And then shortly after the Dark Makers recruited him as their enforcer.

    0:17 - Nice transition there. :)
1:05 - To give reason to the city as to why he should stay as the leader.
1:25 - He did have plans to kill him but he was more interested in beating him in the races to tear down people's hopes, he would most likely take him in afterwards and then kill him.
1:37 - And a quick tour of the palace to see how the other half live.
    1:43 - Uh ... :/ :/ :/
2:01 - Didn't he say it was a month supply of dark eco? Or did he just not specify which kind of eco it was?
3:02 - I was not aware of that logo, I thought it was just the same as before. :/
4:15 - But what if Errol himself just didn't care what they want? Maybe he was just interested in absolute power, they never do specify if the Dark Makers were going to betray him or not.
4:41 - Well Gol and Maia were only interested in experimentation of dark eco, to make the world look like them so to speak, Errol and the Dark Makers on the other hand was merely after planetary annihilation.
5:32 - I believe that Errol was only after power and nothing else, even if it meant the cost of his life.
5:41 - Not really weird since he was corrupted by the dark eco he rammed into so honestly; it makes sense.
5:59 - Also can I just say how much I like both of these characters as villains in the 3rd game. Errol has interest in planetary annihilation just so he can have more power over dark eco whilst Veger on the other hand isn't necessarily a "bad guy", he just wants to rid the world of all dark eco which of course includes both Jak & Daxter.
6:32 - They never do explain that in the game. :/
6:46 - But that's just all the cutscenes of the trilogy but with Daxter's narration. Why would they release that on PS2 even though it's not technically a game (no Gameplay I mean)? :/
7:28 - Honestly; if they don't have this explained by anyone else then I'll just take Daxter's word for it.
    7:32 - What the ...?

7:57 - Right next to Razor.
    9:08 - That's the 3rd video you brought up so far, I wonder if there's a 4th around.
9:30 - What if he just didn't care about defending the city in the 2nd game? Maybe he was only ever doing that for the sake of reputation.
10:32 - Like I said; his only interest was to save the world by ridding it of all dark eco, including Jak & Daxter.

True, they don't state outright that the Dark Makers will betray Errol, but think about it logically, everyone in the series (including Precursors) are basically peasant lifeforms in the eyes of the Dark Makers. Would you let some power crazed yokel from the medieval ages rule over you when you are clearly technologically superior? Lol
Errol and the Dark Makers are both "Alpha male" archetypes. At some point, Errol's nature is going to drive him to conquer the Dark Makers too. It's more than likely they'll betray him first to avoid this. Kind of like a preemptive strike.
Especially if they intend on colonizing Jak's planet. The best Errol can hope for is being the last of his kind. Something I doubt he would settle on.

I actually thought up a theory about Cyber-Errol _today_ after taking a closer-look at his face.
You see...I think an argument can be made that Errol wasn't _transformed_ into a robot at all. There's a chance that he _always was one._
Take a look at what remains of Errol's face on his Cyber-Counterpart? It basically looks like a torn piece of flesh, crudely covering half his face - but underneath, as you see from his cheeks - his entire skull is entirely metal. That skin is the only indication of his former self; so why save the skin off his face if his entire skull needed _replacing?_ The short answer is; it didn't because it wasn't, because it _always was from the beginning._ His remaining skin, is similar to the Terminator - artificial biological skin over a metal endo-skeleton.
Now take a look at Cyber-Errol's design - when you look at it, one-fourth of his body actually matches the physique of his "human-self;" - his head and parts of his torso and his right arm. Meanwhile, the remaining bits - his left-arm, and his legs - look more like the KG Death-Bots we fight throughout the game. It almost feels like when Errol was "rebuilt" only part of him survived, and the KGB had to slap-dash together whatever the had lying around.
So what is my theory? Errol was Praxis' first crude effort to make a "Super Soldier" in what would eventually become "the Dark Warrior Program." Errol wasn't just Praxis' right-hand man nor an expert racer; he was an _android._ Errol was probably the most advanced KG Death Bot prototype, given artificial intelligence, and disguised to look like a human. Why? Because Praxis is all about Propaganda to make himself look good. He had Errol designed and built with the intent that Errol be strong enough to take-out the Metal-Head Leader, and thus, Praxis could present Errol to the public as _the Hero of Haven City,_ one that he completely controlled. It would make Praxis look good.
I think this line of thought, explains a lot of things. It's why Errol is so confident when he says, "I can take him," - believing that he can not only lead an attack on the Metal Head Nest, but he himself can actually defeat Metal-Kor in a fight. If he was an Android, then this would make sense, as he was literally _designed_ for this.
And then there's Jak. At some point, Praxis probably figured that Errol couldn't hack-it. So they proceeded with the Dark Warrior program. So suddenly, Errol finds himself _replaced;_ someone else is being groomed to take _his_ destiny, defeat the Metal-Heads and get all the glory. And this someone was going to be a "Dark Eco Freak."
I think that's why Errol _hates Jak_ so much; he takes such personal satisfaction once Praxis gives him permission to finish Jak off, and tells Jak that he'll be back. But also once Jak escapes and Errol presents himself as a rival for Jak at the races. We also know that Errol has an infatuation with Keira, to further their rivalry. But the fact that Errol is so concerned on beating Jak at every turn, shows that this "competition" is more personal. It could be stemming from Errol having a "Pinocchio Complex," his desire to beat Jak is to prove that he is "a real boy," so to speak.
And then the crash - I'm certain the Month's-Supply of Eco was exclusively Dark Eco, because apart from Ammo and Health Packs, that's the _only Eco_ we see in the game.
This world has been so depleted of eco resources, that Dark Eco is all that remains; and it is what is currently powering _all their technology._ Therefore, we know that Dark Eco can work with machines; Heck it's possible that Dark Eco is what powers Errol in the first place. However, we also know that Dark Eco is corrupting and effects people's minds.
My theory is, when Errol crashed into the Dark Eco, the portion of his body mentioned above survived, and was rescued by the Prototype KGBs that Praxis had made-up at that point. However, the Dark Eco corrupted Errol's CPU and basically caused him to go insane. After the KGB rebuilt him using their own tech, Errol had gone so crazy that he fired-up the War Factory to make his own army to try and take-back the City from Jak and his friends. His programming had become so corrupted that he opted to work with the Metal Heads instead of trying to destroy them, simply to add their numbers to his.
And then, because Errol's cybernetics were overflowing with Dark Eco, the Dark Makers were able to find him and reach out to him. They made him an offer that he wasn't going to refuse.

Personally I think before Jak 2's events back when Erol was probably a young KG cadet in training he was psychologically poisoned and brainwashed by the education and training programme that Praxis had set up for the KG
It definitely would explain why Erol has no respect for others that are simply ''different'' ''weak'' ect. Heck he even calls Onin an ''old hag'' in Daxter. Praxis says that in his world ''Good men are either bought or broken''.
I think Erol falls into both. Praxis was probably looking for someone that he could easily control and would be completely loyal to him so he saw Erol as a ripe easy pick.
Yes part of me is pleased that Erol got his comeuppance as he did do horrible things(heck it would've been awesome if Dark Jak savaged him)but the other half of me wanted Erol to live.

I was under the impression that the reason Errol could communicate with the Dark Maker ship was because he had absorbed a ton of Dark Eco into his body when he tried to kill Jak the first time.
There is a moment in Jak 3 where Jak is pulled into the Dark Maker ships systems and dumped into a cargo mech, and Errols says that he has been able to talk to the Dark Makers ship via some means. I think that beings infused with Dark Eco, Errols does say he is "pure metal" but he must at least still have his organic brain, can fool the Dark Makers (or atleast their machinery) into thinking they *are* Dark Makers.
Jak was only able to do this once before he was locked out of the ships systems. Errol was able to do as he wished because of his robotic body wasn't able to be detected by the counter measures or the ships computer didn't detect him as a threat.

    • @zeratul____1228

If so, if one can communicate with dark eco, could it be possible that Gol & Maia communicated with them at some point? They could be alive as explained by Naughty Dog themselves.

    • @zeratul____1228
      @zeratul____1228 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes actually!, that also could explain why they turned evil in the first place as well. Samos says that Gol was the Sage of the Dark Eco implying that he had been studying and using it for possibly years and there had never been an incident until the first games timeline. Even then he was surprised that the villains were Gol and Maia.
It would also explain how they were able to rebuild and pilot a Precursor mech too (the robot in the final boss fight). It was even able to create a crude version of the Dark Maker soldiers when it launched something into the Dark Eco silo.
However whether or not they knew who they were talking to is up for debate as they could have masqueraded as Precursors to get them to do what they wanted.
Hell, they could have been the reason for the Dark Makers attack on Jaks world that left it basically a wasteland.

I found this video which has all of the in-gameplay none cutscene voiceclips of Jak 3 (its very long!) including Erol's voice clips. These particular lines Erol says stood out to me:
"We will destroy the living and make a new order"
"We will feast on dark eco"
"We will change the universe starting with this planet"
This really does give me the impression Erol had been possessed (or at least at times he's being possessed) by the Dark Makers and what he is saying isn't actually what he is saying but what the Dark Makers are saying but through his body like as some kind of hive mind. We know Erol has been talking to the Dark Makers but we never actually hear the Dark Makers speak or if they're capable of talking to fully organic beings. Perhaps their exposure to Dark Eco made them lose their ability to talk English like the Precursors. So maybe if a Dark Maker tried directly talking to Jak from Jak's POV it just sounds like indistinguishable gibberish because he's still fully organic. But to Erol he's able to understand what they are saying because he's now half machine. Remember that one episode of Pokemon with those angry Tentacool where one of them attaches itself to Meowth like a parasite and starts speaking through Meowth so they can tell the humans how pissed off they are since most Pokemon can't speaking English and Meowth is one of the few who can? Maybe its like that and the Dark Makers needed a host in order to speak through so the humans (or whatever the pointy eared beings in Jak are supposed to be) can hear their threats.

Maybe I got lost on the logic a bit, but Daxter became a precursor after getting knocked into a vat of dark eco in Jak 1. The precursors themselves say that Daxter became a precursor because of the dark eco, and while Veigar's transformation and Tess' as well did not involve dark eco Daxter's change was a direct result of it. So saying that dark eco doesn't have anything to do with becoming a precursor is a bit strange. Am I recalling incorrectly? I vaguely remembered the Precursors saying that the dark makers were once precursors as well, but got corrupted through more dark eco...

    • @VtnVivi

OK so what would've happened if Errol and Torn switched places? Now I'm wondering how the plot would be twisted or molded to make Jak 2. But I'm glad Torn is well... Torn... Then Errol is Errol.

Definitely would've been interesting if Erol was the one who went ''fuck you Praxis you're a bastard I quit the KG!'' instead while Torn stayed loyal to Praxis.

@@VtnVivi Im just gonna go with the damage to his brain due to the dark eco he crashed into fucked him up mentally. Gol and Maia were mentally screwed up due to dark eco so I guess it happened with Erol. Plus he seems to have lost half his head and brain so he's certainly not gonna be feeling himself anymore. I mean Naughty Dog already made a similar concept with N.Gin from Crash who's got brain damage, half his head missing and altered personality due to a serious accident(his case the missile in his head).

@@robonaught how is that that daxter can get in contact with dark eco and it doesn't make him evil, instead turned into an ottsel yet, gol, maia and errol become pale skinned and adopted an evil twisted mind set?

    • @robonaught
      @robonaught 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@SupportGamin2024 Because the effects of dark eco seem to be totally random. Dark eco doesn't just mutate and mentally corrupt people it can physically destroy people. Errol was more on the "physical destruction" effects of it rather then the "mutation" effects of it. Errol's skin looks the exact same color as it was before his body got destroyed. Also Daxter dies if he falls into pools of dark eco in gameplay. Besides the dark eco might not be what altered Errol's personality, it could have just been due to the actual trauma of his brain because look at him it looks like he's lost half his head and brain no way he's gonna be the same after having serious damage to his brain. You do realise actual physical trauma or losing half of the brain can seriously effect and alter a person's personality?

Man it's gonna sound like I hate Jak and Daxter for how much complaining I do about it (I love the series though...) but Cyber Errol was just... one of the worst executed aspects of Jak 3...
In Jak 2 he was a pretty entertaining Secondary antagonist. He was Creepy, obsessive, and... just unsettling... and was a perfect addition to haven city and the overall tone of Jak 2.
In Jak 3 he just sorta popped up and was made into the games main antagonist who wanted to just rule the world suddenly. Don't get me wrong I was like ":D HEEEEY ERROLS BACK!" but with the somewhat chaotic writing of the series it sorta fell flat.
Actually now that I typed it out it's like Vlad Masters from Danny Phantom:
Season 1 and 2 Vlad: "Hello Danny I want to marry your mom and be your daddy!" wow you're creepy. I like this villain!
Season 3 Vlad: "I WANT TO DESTROY DANNY AND TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!!" ....of course you do... of course. Sorta generic now.
I at least wish that they had addressed this change in Errol a bit. You can see that he's gone completely coocoo puffs but they don't even explore it. Like even a quick exchange like "Not that I want to invite Errol to my birthday or anything but how do you go from wanting to protect a city to destroy a planet?" Ottsel leader: "The Dark makers influence can change many things Jak... bend even the strongest of minds to meet their ends..." boom. not great but eh still addresses it.

I agree, him becoming a villain just like that was pretty meh... The way he came off in Jak 2 as Baron's second hand man...one would have never expected this dude to go haywire in the 3rd game. If we knew more of the dark makers, if we had seen him actually communicate with them, maybe getting brainwashed, fake promises and all that, I think we could've better understood him. THEY DON'T EXPLORE IT EXACTLY! Reminds me of Penelope in Sly 4 (liked the idea, but it needs more expanding). Dark eco could've made him gone cocoo I get that, but they could've added so much more.

VTNVIVI Actually not ideal but you know what could have put a bandaid on that? *Optional Audio Diaries*
They could have ported Jak 3 and added hidden audio diaries that belong to Errol as he explains his fall into madness, becoming a robot, and beginning communication with the Darkmakers. Make them something like Skill points in Ratchet and Clank but with rewards for them in this bonus content! And then when you put them all in order you get the full story and more fun little side quests to do.
An optional quest if story is important to you, and ignorable if it isn't!

I've noticed watching these lore videos that it's all entirely speculation. Most of this information is relayed to you in the games. I guess they're short, so not too much time is spent watching/listening.
