The swaying trees is a new detail I didn't know about, wow. That's probably one thing I kept FEELING was off when playing in SoV on PS3. *PS5 version is the best.* The superior loading time on PS3 is hyper negligible - it can't reasonably be factored (except outside the SR community I guess). Everything else the PS3 version does better is similarly negligible or immensely countered by something more positively impactful the PS5 version does, like its anti-aliasing, cutscene stability, sharper image, graphical effects intact (Precursor artifacts, stars, suns dark eco, etc), etc. And that's just on the graphics side, not even factoring in gameplay like less/no input lag, no punch bug, etc. Missed just a few things, but still a top tier video. Really hope Jak II (should be pretty interesting), Jak 3, and Jak X (necessity) get this coverage, assuming Sony re-release them later.

But cartoony styles have never been about being heavily detailed, but rather about their charm. Like with grand theft auto San Andreas, when they got rid of the fog and lighting it completely ruined the charm of the gta games. Yes “technically better”. But awfully stale. I found I could actually play it when they restored the atmosphere. So I’m guessing that’s why I prefer the ps5 version now. It’s just a 100% rock solid frame rate while making the pixels go away. What else did I miss? I really want to achieve 100k subs and get a silver award! So everything I can do to improve these videos I’m keen to know!
@@marcelUM1766 Just tried OpenGOAL. I now think the PS5 version of Jak and Daxter is the definitive version for sure. OpenGOAL is buggy as heck. And despite having a powerful computer, Jak 2 runs even worse even if you set all the settings to their lowest. If you want the best screen shots, use OpenGOAL. If you want to play the games, use PS5.
It's worth noting that the Mac version is pretty new and might be why you're seeing bugs and performance issues. On PC and Steam Deck both games run flawlessly in my experience.

Excellent comparison! I had no idea the tress did not move in the ps3 version. The colors and lighting in the PS3 version looked slightly more vibrant, but because of the many anomalies and glitches I prefer the ps5 version. I also love the rewind feature on ps5, which will come in great handy for when they port Jak 2.
@@TheGamersDojo yeah I find the ps5 version has the least glitches. There was one really small glitch that only effected one jump I did in the long play video in spider cave. But with the rewind feature I could quickly undo and take the jump again. So in my opinion PS5 is the best.
@@tabbofii primarily the new emulated 1.4v update for ps4 that came out alongside the ps5, but I do compare it to the old ps4 version when talking about the directional inputs. Also just wanted to ask. Do you mind the ai voice? Or would you prefer to listen to my unpolished voice. Just wondering.
@@Edmundostudios ps3 extends the draw distance of textures. So you get the higher res textures further away. But if you’re going for a cartoony style you don’t necessarily want extreme detail at a distance. But today we want every pixel to have some detail in a game.

I thought the ps5 version was the same 1080p ps2 port as the ps4 version just with improved movement and rewind feature
Ps5 version is emulating, but is higher resolution and better frame rates. Otherwise it’s more or less the same as the ps4 1.4 version.
Did this PS5 version fix the limited directional input issues and graphical glitches like the PS4 version had?
