LGB is cool! 👍 But I have a tip for cleaning: don't use sandpaper, it's too rough! Instead, invest some money in the LGB L50050 track cleaning device, which is screwed under a car, for example it fits under your orange flatbed car or one of the passenger cars and can always travel on the train. For cleaning the wheels, a fiberglass pen is the more elegant alternative to sandpaper, which increases the lifespan and therefore the long-term fun! 😉 By the way, it should be mentioned that LGB produced before 2007 is of the very best quality "Made in Germany". In 2007, the brand was taken over by Märklin, which unfortunately has not had a particularly positive effect, but the old "stuff" is robust though and therefore not just restricted to the basement. Have fun outdoors with your garden railway! 😁
I love it when you have proficient nerd friends come to stay. I had some radio mates stay for a few days a while ago, I had to go to work, but my backyard sprouted antennas like mushrooms. but thats what you get when you kinda just hand wave and say 'dont use that or this, everything else is free game, have fun lads'. They didnt fix my 40m delta loop like i asked em to, but I do have a multi band 2 element Quagi now, so thats pretty cool.
Well it's good to see model railroading has not gone away yet Back in the middle 80s my grandfather had a train set that filled up the hole 700 sq ft basement that was estimated to be at that time 80 grand
I'm not subbed but watched your geodesic dome video a couple days ago, and to think I just bought the exact same LGB G scale model set used a week ago. Crazy world
My dad bought that same green, red, and blue LGB train set for me and my brother when we were kids in the 80s. We still have them. They still work great. We put the upgraded smoke stack on the locomotive - the one that would actually smoke if you put the drops in it. To this day, whenever I smell that smoke, it immediately transports me to childhood christmas. Thanks for the memories. They don't make them like they used to.
I could probably watch that train go all night, especially with the cats loving/hating it so much. Good work getting it all cleaned up. You reminded me of my time in chicagoland earlier this year. The Amtrak station in Mendota IL has an impressive Z-Scale model of the old city layout. It's well worth the stop if you're ever in the greater Chicago area as it was one of the highlights of my year so far; making the Mendota hamfest that much better. The museum guide let us have plenty of time touring their parked caboose hooked up to a steam locomotive. Go for the swap meet, meet hams, and group up towards the trains. I had a blast to say the least! Anyways the museum is called the Union Depot Railroad Museum. 73
Innocent basement fun you love to see it😊 Ps I Iove the trolley that has its lights in series with the motor it’s cool because it shows the more difficult parts of the tracks when the lights dim down
lol! Wonderful! I have an old o-gauge set from my dad, we break it out around Christmas sometimes and fill the house with track! Not so much now that the kids are grown up. Glad I'm not the only one! You can watch it if you search Marx Train in the kitchen. Good fun!
Good job with the Track cleaning .. You can always spot how clean they are, and detect a dirty spot by watching the lights. if they flicker you have a dirty spot (this also includes the wheels) 🚂👍
Nice video! The trolley is cool.40 years ago I got my first train set on my 7th birthday. Those were the times of great toys. Now the kids are on a smartphone at that age🤔 Grtz from Belgium🇧🇪
Love to see the trains on the channel. I got your book but I honestly haven’t finished it. When I saw the train headlight coming at the camera view that took me back 50 years when I put my head near the track as it was coming towards my face. It was an old 027 gauge that my dad had as a child and my ear got shocked all the time when I made contact with the track. A few years later I got my own 027 Lionel set and put the tracks that came with it together with the older tracks and I thought I was in train heaven. I’ve got an HO set I want to build a board for in the garage on a 4x8 sheet of plywood that lays flat on the wall when not in use. I’ve got too many hobbies; focused on ham and radioastronomy at the minute but I love all scales of trains. Thank you so much for sharing!
Cool, I had this same exact train when I was a child. 25 years ago. I even built lego wagons for it, using rims of Lego wheels which kinda worked. I later used the speed controller for basic electricity stuff as it provided up to 5 Volts to play with.
Those LGB Stanz locomotives are bulletproof. I have one of the sets from '85. How many hours it has run flawlessly i dont know. I set it up under a Christmas tree in a storefront window and it ran on a timer, 8am to 5pm 7 days a week from Thanksgiving to New Years. I would ride by at night and Sundays to check on it. The owner of the store was a great guy and had trains himself. I had a kitten that loved to ride in the gondola. Curiosity got the better of him as he tried to see where the ties were going with his paw. Derailment! Those were good days. Cheers Terry
A very beautiful model railway, I like the steam locomotive, it should be an LGB G-20211 in gauge G. The original looked somewhat different and was of the class 20. The small locomotive has a powerful motor, if I remember correctly, it should also be able to produce smoke like a steam locomotive. It's good that the cats have everything under control.
Don’t use 4:42 nail filers. Use cleaning alcohol and rub it. The nail filer can be like sand paper and over time can give small small indents or holes or even scratches where gunk can build up and then you can’t really clean it well and it can run badly since it won’t have good connection.
Makes me want to find and set up my N-scale, with the ARR diesel engine and hoppers. (I've ridden to Whittier on a train pulled by the engine that my N-scale set's engine is a representation of. I already owned the set when riding... was a cool moment when I realized it.)
At about 03:39 in this video... Gabe: *_"Donnie, what is that? What is it?"_* Donnie: *_"It's like all the other stuff you have around here, Hooman, except it's moving under its own power."_* 😊😊😊
If y'all havent see the movie "The Fabelmans(2022) I know you'll love it. Besides being a great movie, it features model train crashes as part of the plot!
the moment you think I might be different because I watched a whole video on G-Scale trains and what g-scale stands for dont know I just tuned out and watched trains.
I watched the whole thing. I wonder if you could get donny to sit still and ride one of those trains? :) The base-ring of our big radome absolutely, positively, needs a G-scale track around it now :)
That would be fun to do a train around the inside! I'd like to do an actual garden railway, but this year I've been terrible at mowing the garden so can't even see where the ground is...
Non compatible tracks? Parts falling apart? A perfect modell of the KuK railways ca. 1914 Except that the Cat has much more impressive wiskers then Franz Joseph had😂
watching 3 guys in a basement playing with model trains and cats, doesn't get much better than this.
Haha, yep, real "adult" content.
Dang, that is one clean basement floor. Impossibly clean.
Indeed I did sit thorough the whole thing.
As someone who used to have a nice N-scale set and wanted to build a portable Z-scale as a kid... G scale seems monstrous!
Absolutely loving this, I’m the Scott in the video by the way. Thank you for having me Gabe, and much love. ❤
Any time! Always good when we can build a railway through the house. Just have to do a different scale every year :-D
I’m not sure which is worse. You guys playing with trains or me watching you guys play with trains 😂😂😂😂
I was so mesmerized by the trains I didn't even realise the video was over already

Sweet G scale. I have N , HO , S , O, and G scale trains

CATS gonna CAT: Train Edition...😊
You do everything.

This channel is awesome
Pretty cool for a bunch of grups!
Watched it all.
Yes, me and my dog watched the entire thing. The dog was more interested in the cats than the train though. 😁
Fun video! Thanks!

Nice! I'd do an ARR set if I had space, or maybe a small Alaskan mining railroad with HoN3 :-)
Lubrication will set you free.
L. G. B. is awesome! 😁👍

Having doubts about taking this train.

what's a United Traction Company trolley doing in minnesota
I seriously thought that was the trolly from Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. Just saying
Put some wireless antenna receivers on the train for fun

I like trains 👍
As a Train Entuisist my self, I own 3 G scale mdoel train what in total costs $3000!
Yikes! I am definitely a cheapskate and only pick these up when I see them really cheap at estate sales etc.
The cat box cover entrance looks like a train tunnel....
Oh no hes a train geek!! 🚆 💨💨
What firmware are you running on these cats? Most cats that never saw a thing moving and making noise will jump on it or be scared.
There's always time for lubricant indeed
YAY trains
Deeeeeeeecent!
epic!
Are those asbestos tiles on the basement floor?
Probably! Good old 1950s America :-P
Did anyone else jump when the camera bumped against the chair leg lol
Need to build a slightly longer car for Donnie and Fluff to ride on
Choo Choo Choo Choo Choo Whoo Whoo
Any news on the north Korea satellite, apparently they switched to a different vendor ?
Coopers brewery!
They work better than real trains and with fewer derailments. 😂
