Want to know what my favorite thing about your channel is? The honest, no BS titles of your videos. The title will be like "Building a Flux Capacitor from Garbage" and the video is you building a flux capacitor from garbage. No dumb faces in the thumbnail. No exclamation points. No misleading clickbait. Please don't change. We appreciate this about you.
On the flip side (and not to take away from the idea of no BS titles), turning the dial slightly into the "clickbait" direction will bring in more viewers, which is a good thing as long as you don't "clickbait and lie". Everything besides a still from the actual video is clickbait to a certain extent, and it's not all bad, it's like a book's cover. If you just took a page out of the book and printed it on the cover, nobody would pick up the book! But if you had a photo of a dragon on the cover and the title was "Dragon's lair" but there was no dragon in the book and in fact it was a book about a school teacher in the old west... that would be the bad sort of clickbait.
This right here!! It to the point and I learn stuff and gain interest in new things. I wanna learn how to be a ham operator because of this TH-cam channel
Click bait is only needed when the content being produced is not interesting. We are waiting for the next video he doesn’t need to bait us we’re already here!
Hello! I was one of the “visitors”. My partner and i were just talking about this again tonight and seen you had the videos up of the dome you were telling us about. lol.
I know a guy who used to live in a dome home. He was constantly annoyed that furniture wouldn't fit against the wall, leaving a ton of dead floorspace that couldn't be used.
What a great project. I built a 16 footer at Burning Man, and that was a project, I can tell ya. I brought a drywall hoist and built the top pentagon first, and hoisted it up in the air a little at a time as I added panels around the perimeter. It was the biggest dome I knew I could put up by myself. For anyone doing this, do not neglect the rebar J-anchors pounded into the ground. The dome is structurally strong and tends to behave in one piece. A strong wind, with the Bernoulli Effect, will tend to lift the dome upward, then send it tumbling away as one big piece. The anchors are extremely important.
Hey, that was near me! That is a radio observatory that I didn't know about! Glad you got a chance to see the Deifenbunker! I've visited it a number of times, including when I was in Air Cadets. We got to see a bunch of the areas that are not open to the public. You were also not far from another radio observatory, The Algonquin Radio Observatory (ARO) which has a 46 m (150 ft) dish that is fully operational and used by a number of organizations around the world. The local Science Fiction club put together a trip to see it a couple of decades ago, and we got to crawl around inside the base and look out through the service port in the middle of the dish as it was being updated at the time. Very cool.
We built one from wood, in the 70's. It was about that size, maybe a bit larger. I attended Rycote Wood the world famous woodworking college, to learn fine quality hand crafted furniture. We needed another classroom, and so We each made several wooden triangle frames with the correct angles. Of course as We were highly skilled craftsmen We Dovetailed the angled corner joints. Best Wishes Jahmahrah : - )
Build a second one (half) next to it to create a new conspiracy theory when people find this place in the future. Also what an amazing thing! Nice work.
That looked very professional, it's great that the dome is set up and the dog also made an important contribution. A well-stocked hardware store is worth its weight in gold, so the work can continue. Now I'm curious to see what will go inside the dome, there's a lot of space for a nice satellite dish. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it progresses.
use the leftover panels to build a bandshell. It ought to reflect toe sound out to an audience pretty well. Or foil the inside and use it as a solar cooker. (or other solar focusing application)
Very cool!! You need to try out a stereo mic in the center of the dome. There's a room at the Christian Science Headquarters in Boston that is completely spherical with a walkway thru the center that does the most amazing things with sound depending on your location on the walkway. I'm in Portage so if you ever pass through let me know and I can show you my recording studio. Good luck with everything!

@@saveitforparts the quality of your content never went down in all the time I have been watching you and its easy to see that you do what you do because its fun and not to milk it for content. Love you and your videos man. Keep up the good work
>we're here at sandland >normally you access from underneath, but we put it on the ground the solution is obvious: dig a ladder well down to the tunnel network, for access via the tunnel network. Ideally put a winch or pully at the top to of it haul heavy/awkward things up and down. If it weren't for the humidity underground, you could have the computers & radio gear connected to the radome under there too. Maybe put all that into a Mission Control Monorail instead?
It would be fun but it's actually a long vertical distance between the tunnels and the upper field, plus there are annoying limestone layers to go through :-(
I fin love SaveItForParts. Along with LAbeast, this is amongst the few remaining proper TH-cam channels. No clickbait, just pure crap cutting and original content. Keep it up!

I remember when you got the dome. I was so jealous. I’m glad to see you putting it into service. I’m sure you’re aware of the value of the geo dome. I’ve seen a couple for sell and they go for low 6 figures. Very Cool! Keep on , keepin on!!
Hello from Germany. Very cool what you're doing. Keep it up😁. A suggestion for what you can do with the “half dome”. If you make a round foundation out of concrete or wood with an entrance, then you can mount the "half dome" on top. Maybe some viewers will donate to such a project. Good luck and more good videos
The monorail was one of my first channel videos... terrible video too, I didn't know what I was doing and it was all clip show and terrible speaking voice 😅
man you could use the playland parts to build a short platform so the dome is raised up like the ones still being used. that feels so on-brand for sandland to me.
making a door would be very fun! I'd weld a frame out of angle iron, paint it after drilling holes for mounting, and bolt plywood or plexi panels to it. Then you can use a standard or even a double door!
The other folks have some good ideas about what to do with the extra dome parts, but I vote for using them to create a small vestibule or foyer off what is now the door, that way you have a place to stash stuff. Also another thing I thought of is you could build a rotating platform inside where you could mount multiple dishes of various sizes and purposes - 73 de WB8YMV
Use the playaland bits to erect a base to lift the thing up in the air. That metal should be strong enough (they usually overdo kids stuff) for all your needs. I mean, you'd have to crawl, but you wouldn't have to dismantle the dome. If you happen to have old rail road ties, you can even build a set of down-up stairs (essentially, you make the walls and steps out of rail road ties to pass under a fence. They used to do this kind of stuff for fences under tension so as to not have to break up the wire too many times.
Another idea for the extra parts is to just extend the dome? It could be bigger, or have a different shape? If you have a list of tiles and measurements etc and some detail pictures of the attachments maybe people can generate some cool shape suggestions.
I started poking around rtl-sdr.com and then places like usradioguy.com, satdump.org, etc. There are a lot of resources out there, and I'm still not an expert at any of it!
You guys missed an opportunity to double jump on the trampolines with each piece during the assembly process. Truly a missed opportunity for danger and poor decisions. Also great video!! 😊
I suggest that the most important consideration for your dome is how to keep it anchored to the ground. You want to be prepared for the worst of winds because, if it breaks loose you will end up with big wad of tangled pipes.
HUGE missed opportunity, you should've built it on top of one of those trampolines lol. Maybe the half a dome worth of parts you have can go up around one of them just for fun? Great video! I love your work, it's always interesting
