  • For the 110th instalment of the Trains At series and a continuation of my Chatham Mainline coverage, I am at Gillingham, my local station. Gillingham is located around 35 miles South East of London and recieves 7 trains per hour in each direction, 2tph Thameslink between Rainham and Luton, 1tph Southeastern between Ramsgate and London Victoria, 1tph Southeastern between Dover Priory and London Victoria calling at rural stations, 1tph Southeastern between Dover and London Victoria calling at Suburban stations, 1toh Southeastern Highspeed between Faversham and London St Pancras INTL and 1tph Southeastern HS loop. Gillingham, in my completely and blatantly unbiased in every way opinion, is a lovely station, with plenty of trains and a wonderful atmosphere typical of a well equipped yet classic Southern Region station such as itself and I highly recommend stepping out and sampling the station's mix of old and new, such as the new station frontage leading on to the original 19th Century station structures and Connex fixtures such as the LED boards and the large NSE Ticker clock located on the Island platform. The next station being covered on the Chatham Mainline will be Sole Street, on the trunk of the route.
    Enjoy,
