I _love_ hearing about mythology, cautionary tales and cryptozoology from all around the world. I hope you continue this analysys of slavic folklore incorporated into the Witcher in the future :) This was great fun!
@@thirdcoastfirebird Rapunzel and other fairytale characters were accurately put into a story in the Witcher 3, so IF there is something alien to Slavic folklore, they will probably create a whole new level for it.
Skellige was basically an excuse to some incorporate Scandinavian folklore, history and mythology, along with Irish and otherwise celtic myth. And as a scandinavian, I loved it.
I think they should stay with slavic monsters in slavic regions. However, adding monsters fitting to other folklores in other lands might work. By this i dont mean i hope they add ancient greece type of country... god no... Now Ciri is said to be in the northern part rn which makes me think that at some point they might go the other way around and finally give zerrikania in the south a proper visit. And I really would love to see that. I would love to see the heart of nilfgaard and their own different monsters
Reminds me of the story of St.George, as a patriotic Englishman. Our own personal dragon can take many forms. Maybe we'll see some Icelandic monsters, some of them are unhinged, like the Yule Cat, (Jólakötturinn) who eats kids at Yuletide who don't receive clothes.
I'm not surprise if CDPR would confirm that they put a story into the story the trailer shows. Strigoi would be nice, but you can also never have enough Vedma. I also like chernobog, so a creature derived from him could be great and devastating.
@@morganlefaye6445 oh, they said that this story is a playable quest! Not in this exact way, but we will meet all the NPCs in this village. Those are cool monsters!
Personally i can't get past making ciri a witcher. Playing as ciri was something i expected. But having her go thru the trials, i can't get behind that. I'm a stickler for lore, it sends me into an OCD fit to see the lore broken like this so i won't be able to play the game. It's the same reason i couldn't watch the Netflix show. I know you were excited to play this game so i hesitate to bring up the new lore master for the game, don't really want to ruin it for you or others, but he's said some concerning things. Worse than the art director from avowed. Also defended the witcher Netflix show on lore breaks which for me is red flags in itself. But if your so inclined to look him up, the guys name is Cian Maher. Been with cdpr since april 2023. He's the guy that's supposed to keep the lore true. Before then, he was a journalist for TheGamer and that's where he said the most hateful things towards gamers, almost using the term GAMER itself as some kind of slur or insult. And It's a lot of tweets. Years worth of hateful tweets. Still the most concerning thing to me is his attitude towards fidelity to lore in witcher Netflix or rings of power. He Basically told fans to not worry about lore being broken, that it's no a big deal and that for me is not the attitude i want from someone who's job it is to keep continuity of the lore in my favorite franchise of all time, that being the witcher. Again, i didn't bring up his exact words on things because i know you might want to ignore it, and i don't want to ruin excitement for the next game for you. But it's all too much for me. And it doesn't surprise me now the monumental shift in lore like this when i find out this guy is the one in charge of the lore and he's only been with cdpr less than 2 years now. Off topic, you should really check out the new studio rebel wolves if you haven't yet. It's a bunch of ex devs and lead writers/quest designers from cdpr that started this new studio and they are almost certainly making a medieval vampire rpg. The game will be called Dawnwalker. All we have is a couple pictures to go on but I'm already stoked on the idea since they are the guys that made witcher 3 so great. And i can't wait for KCD2 as well, which also has some ex devs from cdpr working on it. So I'm already sold on that game but knowing those guys joined the team makes it even better lol
I read it when it came out. So, here's the thing. The Witcher video games are all lore breaking at some point. Secondly, there are multiple quotes from the books that you can find online (idk try Reddit or videos on TH-cam) and they prove that the lore wasn't broken. Triss discussed the possibility of making Ciri a witcher and the only lore we had is that she or other mages didn't know how to do it. Once again, it points me to Kaer Seren where witchers collected magic tomes and practiced knowledge more than Witcher craft. You see, it's easy to accuse someone you don't know or believe that everything is bad because someone passionately says so. The Veilguard created this status quo, unfortunately, though it doesn't mean that everything will turn out this way. Also, I don't care what some lore designer says. Until he's not a director of the project, he can vent and say things because he's tired and face consequences later. That's why he's not leading the project but creates stories. Take a moment and think. Was the Witcher bad in terms of the story? Was Cyberpunk 2077? Was Thronebreaker? Drama is convenient for views because people need to pay their bills. I try to avoid it if I can. Have a look at my channel. Negative videos have a lot of views. Have a look at other channels. Do they have something ACTUALLY about the game? It's lore? Characters? I follow a couple of channels that speak exclusively about the existing lore and/or explain it, or shows some secrets in games without diving into fights and rumors. Why do you want to be involved in drama that has no proof except "he said/she said"? If you are sad or unsure about the game, please express it and we'll talk about the game. As I mentioned before, go and have a look into book quotes. I hope it helps 🥂 Merry Christmas!
The Witcher's universe with strong slavic roots, based on a series of original Sapkowski's books, is unique. Have you read the books and do you know that Ciri is in fact the main character? More complicated than Geralt? As to the newly established studio - I wish them all the best but what new and so far unseen can be invented and told about vampires even if they are to be set up in medieval times? We've seen all storylines about Dracula and others like him. IMO you trust too much in the ex-CDPR devs creativity and already dislike and reject TW4 before the game is released. Sorry, I don't understand such approach from a gamer.

Very cool. I must admit I knew nothing about this monster, and found it interesting that it has such deep roots in slavic folklore.
I mistook the Bauk for a Hag at first 😯
it looks really cool...and I kinda wish we had an RPG where we PLAY as a cool monster like the Bauk 😍
It might show more monsters. Let's just hope they stay Slavic. If they bring in Medusa or her sister, the bets are off.

No loyalty to Slavic culture. But I'm 100% with you. There's a missing element of polish to Slavic myths. Makes it seem more real.
I always used to think this was the last crone but fully evolved from sacrifices, hell even the fave is similar

Sounds awesome 🥳 I wonder how many cultures they will use for lore this time. The Witcher 3 had plenty!
great take, keep up the good work!
