Nice tank setup. It’s unfortunate what happened but like you’ve said before, everything happens for a reason. This little res turtle might not have made it out there and you’re giving it the best chance possible.

Smart choice to put the lid on the tank. Red-eared sliders are surprisingly good climbers. They can be escape artists. I used to have one that managed to climb out of his tank once and was found under my brother's bed about a week later. He's still alive apparently, but I had to rehome him when I moved about a decade ago. I gave him to a former teacher who kept a bunch of turtles and he had babies with a female red-ear that my teacher already had.

this video was sooo helpful. My baby turtle wasn't eating pellets but we had the same container you used to feed him, and he took a day or two but he's eating pellets all the time now!!!

4. Love love love that turtle cliff!! Discreet filtration AND and basking rock all in one?!? Saaweeet. Keep us posted on how well it works. Personally I love the other filter that you had in there- that's what I use (but I hot glued rocks on it)

You’ve helped so much with my turtle, I rescued it from my little brother who had been keeping it secretly in a cooler. He was feeding it nothing but lettuce and had a fungal infection when I got him. Since then my baby red eared slider I would name Po has a 20 gallon tank, he’s on a proper turtle diet and his favorite things to do are hunt bugs and sleep on his rock.

That's my favorite times with RES turtles, I wish they always stayed hatchling-sized and always had that much energy lol. Especially when she's basking, my RES kinda just ignores me if she doesn't want anything from me.

Aw, Sheldon Jr. is precious. I’m happy for you and your new shell baby. Maybe Sheldon Jr. wasn’t liking the current too much at first and that’s why he kept going up to the basking platform..? Either way, you fixed the current and he seems more satisfied with it now. Lol

Awww, a cute baby red eared slider! I turtle hunt and years ago, I found two baby red eared sliders. One came to my fishing pole and I jumped into the lake and got him, and another one I handcaught him in the lake. They were both just a couple weeks old, and I had them for 6 years, they unfortunelty passed due to an infection that I did not catch in time.. RIP to Crush and Snapper, they were two good boys

That's awesome how you just stumbled upon Sheldon Jr! The whole reason we have a turtle (Eastern River Cooter), is because my cat, Bob brought us 2 baby turtles in March of this year. The first was a box turtle and we released him where we think the cat got him. The other we decided to keep and named him Yoshi. We think it's a boy but it's hard to tell till it gets older, but Yoshi is a part of our family now. 🐢❤️

I just hatched out a group of albino het snow red ear slider babies and setting up a tank myself to put with my albino pink belly sideneck turtles so I came to your channel to see if any new ideas were present. I do need some artificial plants I feel so thank you. I have my adults in a waterland turtle tub so I have not had a baby tank in many years as I raised the adults slowly to increase their life span from them being 3 days old originally.
My adults are on a short video on my TH-cam channel as well as my albino pink belly sideneck turtles. I will be adding a video of the new baby tank soon but as mentioned, I wanted to get some ideas first. My water was murky as well and frankly I was confused as to why. Treating the water currently. Thank you for the ideas by the way. With hatching alot of albino het snows, I will be finding a few new homes for a few while keeping some back of course to enjoy and raise.
