Yo literally my sister just surprised me with a turtle and I had to wip up a enclosure for him, luckily I was planning on getting one and had a tank and some supplies. Thanks so much your videos are very funny! And smart man stay in school.

I'm going to be building something similar this week! The plan is to get a 75 gal aquarium since they're super cheap rn and put in some baby cichlids I'm getting from a friend. I'm hoping that the 75 can comfortably hold them and 2 western painted turtle hatchlings but if not I'll just use a stock tank for the turtles lol
Awesome video like always. Some of the best turtle info on TH-cam. I will use glass tanks for my hatchlings specially when they are very young, 10 or 20 gallons but I also have some small tubs which work well too, both have pros and cons and since it's not a permanent home for them you really can't got wrong. Keep up the good work!

Hello! Would a wall aquarium be a bad idea because I’ve seen it been done before but I want your take on it. What is your opinion on wall aquariums and are they safe?
I'd say they're fine as long as they're structurally sound and you can fit a basking platform/lamp without hazard!

Hi Dan! I love your vids! You help expand my knowledge on turtles and how to care for them. Also I am planning on getting a new turtle, I've had box turtles, and yellow belly slider turtles in the past. I wanted to try a new species, any recommendations? Also who is the best online turtle store to order from, I have only ordered once online from myturtlestore.com and they were pretty good about taking care of the turtle they sent me. But I don't know if they're are better stores out there that take good care of their turtles and have a wide variety of species.

Try watching this! As for species, painteds are relatively friendly, Reeves, maps are shy but stay small (males), I also have a video on best pet turtles! Check that out

Also just a little trick I use, if you want to possibly use the tank for something else after turtles grow out, you can tape black construction paper to the sides for same effect

Hi! New turtle mom here, just wondering if there was a reason you painted your tank, or if it's just because it looks awesome!
Turtles can become stressed out in glass tank where they can see out of the tank and try to swim out but obviously can’t so it’s better to paint all sides black or have a all black tub so they don’t get stressed
Lol in the past I have just used construction paper to black it out if I am not making a rock background. Wayyyyyyy quicker

Where can I get a baby diamondback terrapin? They are so hard to find, especially to find them freshwater grown. Can anyone help me?
Just google it. I would recommend underground reptiles or tortoise town.

Would you recommend a brand of tanks or are they all the same
There is no specific brand for aquarium to keep a turtle (even those on craigslist can work). What really matter is how much water it can hold. But if you want to keep aquatic turtle with some planted / scaped tank, then try to find a low iron glass one.

The key is clean, warm water (78 degreesish) and plenty of UVB and heat to bask (basking temp should be between 90-100 degrees) so they can dry out completely.
