Oh yeah! Hooked what I believe was the biggest trout of my life on the Green River, (broken back rapella), took line like a salmon, fought it for at least a half hour, following it up & down the bank. Got it to 6 or 7 foot out & it just stopped in front down deep. I made the mistake of pulling sideways with the rod, & the lure came flying back at me. LOL, never did see that fish, but man what a fight! (& memory '92 road trip)
I live not to far from there, and the green river is by far one of the best fisheries in the states. Some gorgeous trout that are through there. Also if you ever come back to wyoming, try fishing Ham’s fork. It’s a private section of of a river. It’s artificial lures only and it’s 10 bucks a day. But it’s worth every bit. There are some MONSTER browns in there. Huge.
Dude what a freaking video!! My day would have been made catching a big cutthroat like that first one as I have never caught one. That big brown would have smashed my pb as well. You are the man!
Still no Silver Mepps #2 spinner huh!? Lol! I use to live in Utah. Use to fish the "Green" all the time below " Flaming Gorge" reservoir. You can catch a grand slam there! 20,000 fish per mile! We use to use a fly the size of a chicken! Lol! The legendary "Chernobyle Ant!"😎👊🎣🎣
@@FishHawk It's different water for sure. Tail water fishing. Big, crystal clear, and beautiful! Most folks float fish it. You can wade it though. The biggest tip I can give you is as follows. Most people wade out a bit and make casts up and across the river. When some of the biggest fish are behind them near the bank! Good luck brother!🤟😜😎🎣🎣
All the fish that you caught were most definitely fantastic catches and worth every single moment of it too. There's no question about it, a great job with those trout. 👍👍👍👍
If you’re interested another good location in Wyoming to try is the north platte river which is by where I live. I’ve had the best luck in Saratoga Wyoming but there are many other great places like the miracle mile
Can we assume you eventually did a little boat work at Flaming Gorge? If you were in Green River, WY, seems like a no-brainer to spend at least one day on the reservoir. Nice fish! Especially that big, colorful cutthroat to start things off.
@@FishHawk, that's too bad the Gorge disappointed on your trip. There are some record-setting fish in there, if you can catch 'em. Looks like from the videos you really had a good time in our neck of the fishing woods.
Just subscribed, I live in Green River I get to fish that river daily, I use almost the same set up you do. Ugly Stik, Shimano Sierra 2000, and Dynamic Lures HD trout. I started using that bait a few years ago, and I beleive in it I've never caught so many fish.
Glad you had an awesome day fishing! Have you ever tried using a longer rod on large rivers? My medium and medium heavy action rods are 9 feet long. I found that it really increases casting distance. It also helps with accuracy and control.
DAAAAAAANG! These things are TANKS!!🤯👍 Could someone PLEASE cue the Jaws movies theme music??!! Gorgeous fish my friend. Well done!👊😁 Lookin forward to the next installment. Peace ✌😎
I have this lure I have been calling a Mepps 3 perch spinner. Finally realized that it is a BlueFox Vibrax 3 perch spinner/eerie deerie hybrid lure. BlueFox is owned by Rapala lures. I have seen you do quite well with small Trout pattern jerkbaits so I picked up a Baby Rainbow Rapala lure.
I used to fish the upper Green River out of Pinedale, Wy? I have caught Brook trout, rainbow trout, Brown trout, Cutthroat trout and even one small Lake trout. Are you fishing the Green River below Fontenelle lake towards the town of Green River.
Question for you WV folks out there: Does anyone know of any half decent trout streams near Bridgeport / Clarksburg region? Going to be in the are for work next week and may bring my fishing gear. @fish hawk awesome video as usual, keep slamming em!
@@FishHawk there is so many great rivers and lakes in Wyoming. You should try lake trout fishing in the Flaming gorge reservoir, it's 30 min. Outside Green River
Great fishing man! Seems like you had a great trip, was wondering where you been. But your video did not feel like your usual content quality......felt really rushed. Also, why no spinners? FishHawk spinners even? Crank baits are not something I would use for Trout unless they weren't biting anything after several other tried and true lures failed. I would think paddle tail swimbaits on a jig would beat hard crank baits if that was all they would take? Or was it about the sound/rattle/clanking of hardbody and hooks? Does that water contain any other types of game fish? Seemed kinda desolate out there, our East Coast scenery is much better :) But our fish are much smaller lol.
Just wondering why u have your drag so high here in new zealand the trout fishing capital of the world we don't have that much drag let's the fish take line so they jump less so u don't loose fish as often just a question though. Love the vids
I am on the Green now, late August, and every cast comes back completely wrapped in moss. Floaters, count downs, spinners. Every cast. Frustrating. Guess I have to return in spring.
@@FishHawk i see. In here, and in this time of the year, we usually fish only downstream, as the trout is lazy after winter and grab an easy targets that stays for long on their site. thanks.
Maybe moving someplace without extra high speed internet would be Okay based on this video. Catch trout like this may make giving up 2.5Gb internet speeds worth it...
Those Wyoming browns like the Chartreuse shad J-spec as well.
Sweet! That’s how I fish:) Stand out as far as you can in your waders, bomb out fan casts and then move 10 feet down, repeat. Great catches!
Yessir! Appreciate it Scott! 😎
Yes EXCELLENT The way you work those Baits. What a place to Fish. Thanks For the Show. 😎
That first one was a bruiser! All good fish!
Thank you!
Looks to be a wonderful trip. The scenery is as special as the the trout.
Such a wonderful trip! Thank you! 😃
This is how a "chest mount" vid should be made. Nice work.
Thank you John!

@@FishHawk reminded me of my dad when I was fishing..lol.. I was thinking Fishhawk knows how to land a fish. Ha!

Come out here to northern Utah, we got some great trout fishing. The green river is truly a great river.
I would love to some day!
Boy if there was ever a place for a Kastmaster or a Rough Rider that’d be it!
Awesome video! 👌
Thank you Tisha! 😃

Below Fontenelle dam near Weeping Rock CG
wow dude nice!
Thanks man!
I use the same reel and it has done me wonders looks like the same to you!!
I like it..!!
You should try to use PE accordingly Japan classification 0.4-0.6 size

I live in Green River, some of the best trout fishing in the US
Yes it is! You’re lucky 🙂 I can’t wait to go back
@@FishHawk there is so many great rivers and lakes in Wyoming. You should try lake trout fishing in the Flaming gorge reservoir, it's 30 min. Outside Green River
Nice video ... the river looks low and clear. Are fishing in March or early-April?
That first fish was a big old pig nice fish to start the video
Thanks Randy!
Such a fun video... thanks for sharing it. Do those lures dive down? How do u avoid snags? Is the Green R. open to public fishing all through WY?
Thanks! They’re a suspending jerkbait. I got snagged a few times but I was able to pop it off and get the lure back.
Great fishing man!

Go to Grubbies in Rock Springs for the best burger if you life order the Shamrock
I will do that next time I’m out there!

What’s your favourite knot to tie the ultralight leader to the swivel?

beautiful steelhead!
You r so lucky
And by the way, PK.
I don't think I've ever seen anyone use a spinning rod on that river lol
😂
Andarilho
I am on the Green now, late August, and every cast comes back completely wrapped in moss. Floaters, count downs, spinners. Every cast. Frustrating. Guess I have to return in spring.
why did you cast only upstream? is there an explanation?
It’s more natural looking when you cast upstream and retrieve downstream back to you. That’s the way their natural forage moves in the water.
@@FishHawk i see. In here, and in this time of the year, we usually fish only downstream, as the trout is lazy after winter and grab an easy targets that stays for long on their site. thanks.
