Extremely well done video. I'm going to try this. Wish me luck!
Awesome video simple and effective thanks for sharing 😃
Glad you liked it!
Hydrogen peroxide instead of bleach , bleach leaves traces 😊
I will try that, thank you!
Cap full of hydrogen peroxide?
That’s what I came here to say!
your video is great well explained it is a quality tutorial I wish you get more views you deserve it :)
I appreciate that!
Good job, thanks
Thanks for watching!
Great information how many chickens do you feed
How many chickens were you feeding with 2 trays a day? Im trying to figure out how much I'd need to start
So many unanswered questions
Sorry, I lost access to this account, but I'm back! Planning on making some videos about my new homestead in subtropical Nicaragua soon. Stay tuned!
I keep running into issues with mold, have you experienced this?
Where to order those trays please
Great content. Why manually punch holes in the top tray when you can buy a tray that's already have holes? Thank you.
Good question! I chose this route because the trays in my area with drains were a flimsy quality and the drainage holes/slits were too large and too many, leading to a seed that couldn't stay moist. This way, I have high quality trays that I use to this day, and the drainage is perfect for growing fodder.
This was an awesome video. What seed do you use?
Thanks so much! I used barley in the video, but regularly also sprout wheatgrass, triticale, or any seed or sprouting mix for birds that does not contain sunflower seeds (they will float and turn moldy).
No one used soil for this in any other video . I never used it and you don’t need a grow light at all .
By the time you need a light I’d should be fed out , especially
To chickens as the long grass can cause issues .
Good luck
What about apple cider vinegar instead of bleCh
I've seen a bunch of these videos and want to do this but where can I buy barley from in bulk?
Your local feed store should have bags of wheatgrass, barley, and more. Just tell them you are using it for sprouts and they can help. Sometimes it's sold as an organic seed mix for chickens. As long as it doesn't contain sunflower, that should be good as well.
Awesome video. Q--have you tried Colloidal Silver instead of bleach? Curious before I try it. :)
Ooo! This sounds like a great idea!! How did it go?? Did you try it?
Do you rinse out the dirt before feeding?
Probably not for chickens. I'm researching for feeding cows and not sure I want to feed them dirt.
You can do that, but there's so little left, the grass absorbs most of it. My mini pig and chickens didn't mind and ate the entire mat. The rabbit ate around the dirt.
where do you purchase the barley/grains?
Feed store. Just make sure it's whole barley, triticale, spelt, etc and not cracked. If you tell the employees you are sprouting grains they should be able to help.
how many kg of finished fodder do you get per tray?
9-12lbs on a 10x20 seed tray at 3 cups per tray
Can we use vinegar instead of bleach?
I'm going to try that out. Feel free to let me know how it goes for you 😊
How often are the grow lights on?
Rarely. It's barely needed, and only at the end of the process (last 2 days)
How many chickens was this for?
I fed this as supplemental feed to 30 chickens, a bunny and a mini pig. It cut my feed costs in half.
can you do this without soil?
Yes!
Yes
Absolutely! I used the paper bags exclusively for a long time. I just had better results with a handful of soil.
You don't used soil for fodder
Use apple cider vinegar instead of bleach
How much acv to what amt of water?
That's an interesting idea. Does the ACV inhibit the sprouts at all? I'm going to do a test run with hydrogen peroxide and one with ACV. Thanks!
No soil is needed
Anybody else use anything but bleach
Good grade hydrogen peroxide
