    WOW, you seem very "tepid" towards Beyerdynamic headphones in general! I just bought the DT 880 250 Ohm Premiums, and LOVE THEM for jazz and classical music! I plan on buying either The asgard 3 or Gilmore Lite amplifiers. I know have the Liquid Spark which sounds quite nice.

    • @nyvoreviews5443
      @nyvoreviews5443  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, that’s accurate. I’ve tried a lot of headphones and these beyers are not terrible, but not great either, but they are all comfortable. I’ve never tried the 250 ohm dt880 because everyone says the 600 ohm version is better. There are cheaper headphones that are technically outperforming dt880 600 ohm in several categories, but I can see how someone might prefer dt880.

    dt900prox doesnt sound that good ? i checked your reviews and replies and im quite (shocked) about your "taste" in sound. Idk , i know there is many people out there with different preferences but in past 20 years i tried many headphones, i have had everything popular on my head, i own some pieces i bought decades ago. I got my hands on dt900prox and it blew my mind how good (different from old beyers) they are. Many popular reviewers and many of my friends who are into music agree they sound incredibly good. What is your preference in this price range as "very good headphone which sounds good" ? Im quite curious because im sure i have had it on my head but based on your reviews and comments i cant really make my mind what you like or prefer.

      At this price range there is always going to be some sort of sacrifice.
      For dt900prox it’s just has less than average technical ability, but probably the best comfort in this price range .
      He400se with a strong amp is a decent choice for music but not gaming.
      Verum1 is a decent fun headphone.
      R70x is a decent choice but lacks bass. XS is a bit more expensive but worth it imo.
      Hd650bs is a good option,
      Hd540gold 600 ohm.

      I personally don’t like 880 600 ohm for gaming because the soundstage is mostly left to right. With HRTF on this usually isn’t a big problem though. I prefer 300r over 880 for gaming and 990 600 ohm over 300r…. And even my blended 990 pro more than 880 for gaming (at low volume levels only)

    I love Beyer and Senn headphones a lot. Had or extensively tried nearly every model. From the Senn's kept the 560s and the 800s, from the Beyer's the 770, 880 and the 1990 but recently I discovered the 177x Go since I needed a decent close-back w/ more umph in the lows. Yes, it is close-back but its stage is impressive, beating lots of open-backs. I run the Beyers and other power hungry headphones from Burson Soloist 3XP and iFi Pro iDSD, and find the chain pretty high end.

    • @nyvoreviews5443
      @nyvoreviews5443  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My favorite senns are hd650 black silk, hd540 gold 600 ohms with the original velour pads and hd800 (not hd800s). 650bs on bottlehead crack and the other two headphones need a lot of power.
      I got rid of all of my closed backs, and switched to IEMs. Closed backs just have too many problems.

      I used Sennheisers many years. At one point it broke and I wanted the same one as I knew it. Went to a shop and they had my model but also Beyerdynamic which I hadn't used till then. I decided to compare them. I immediately understood why my mixes sounded bad when using the sennheizer. Imo the Beyerdynamics are generally much more neutral and balanced. Sure, by now Sennheiser probably has better models as well. But I am sold to BD. I have the DT770 Pro, the DT1770 Pro and the DT1990. I also have an Audio Technica ATH M50x which I also love for that price. ANd I obtained a shure from a friend of mine who sadly passed away. While not a bad headphone, it's the least good of all.

    I curently use the 880 250 ohms on an upper middle class denon A/B class stereo amp. what would you recomend to upgrade from that on? and also first the headphones or the amp? i kinda tweaked the hell out of that combination, did put a lot bass on and variable loudness and some treble so it doesnt sound so linear and more warm and a bit dirty which for me ads some character to the songs i listen to. i find the 880 a bit sharp in the highs sometimes but not too bad i guess.. so yeah maybe let me know what u think about that.. what would you recomend.. like maybe in a couple different price points or like what u think i needed to spend minimum to get something better and not just something different xD

    • @nyvoreviews5443
      @nyvoreviews5443  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I think all of the buyers have a bit too much treble. It all kinda depends what you want to spend and the type of sound you like. Hifiman XS is one of the easiest to recommend for me, because it’s tuned decently well and technically beats most things cheaper than it. And it’s priced pretty well. Around $380 right now.
      But if you are looking for something darker sounding then i would look elsewhere. The biggest complaint I would have for XS is it sounds a little thin. But not many things in that price range can do it all.

      @@pierreg8562 IMO the treble on XS isn’t that bad and you sort of adjust to it after a few days, but if you are sure that you don’t want that, I would recommend the hd540 gold 600 ohm with velour pads for jazz. Dt880 has less forward stage so it will only work well imo for games that have a good hrtf mode. Both dt990’s are better for gaming, but dt990 250 ohm has unlistenable treble at my normal listening volume which is relatively loud, and dt990 600 ohm also has a treble peak but not as bad as the 250 ohm and a little worse than dt880. But dt990 600 ohm is much better for gaming and pairs well with valhalla 2.

I used to use Sennheiser hd 380 pro for my video editing and video sound mixing and I was satisfied with the flatness and unbiased sound (after a while I realized that it was not as unbiased as I thought!) so I decided to switch to a new headphone for my editing (consistent bass and a bit warm, bright at mids and not sharp or airy at treble) and now this is my big question: what is the right pick under 350$ ?

    Cool to see this. Thoughts on added audio delay when using external dacs? I remember battlenonsense making a video about this years ago where the conclusion was that using an external dac introduced something in the neighborhood of 20ms+, depending on the dac. Through that logic I'd guess that purely for gaming using an internal soundcard & low impedence headphones ie tygr 300r would make more sense...
