    Great video. I actually recently got the DT900 and have been impressed. I'd almost consider it a modern DT880 since the tuning sounds much closer to that than the more "V tuned" DT990. I think they struck a great balance between a studio/work headphone and one that's also just fun too.

      Yes, I agree, they are a good all-rounder and will work with just about any equipment

    Hi. Very informative clip. In case of T1 it looks like if you replace outside metal shield from T5 you can have closeback headphone :) so you can change it from time to time depending you need :)

      Maybe... I have not seen inside the T5 so they may have to addition tuning

    One of the biggest negatives of Brexit was the effect its had on Beyerdynamic spares. Most spares just aren't available in the UK and they won't ship them to the UK. This has most likely had a big effect on prices of the headphones and their spares.

    • @CustomCans
      @CustomCans  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, to be fare, we reduced the range of spares we carry for them as we could no longer make a profit on them. Thomann is often a good source and they ship to the UK

    I have the 990 and the tesla 1990 and you can hear the difference as the 1990 is more precise. So, the 1990's is perfect for me using along side with Focal studio monitors Shape 65.

    • @CustomCans
      @CustomCans  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeh - the DT1990 are definitely a step up from the 990. They cost 3 or 4 times more but I think it is probablyt worth it if you have the money

      @@CustomCans First of all, man, you're doing a great job, thank you! It's worth to upgrade, but it looks like the 'mighty' EU messed up the monetary system and now the prices are going up.

    Amazing video to show the interior design between the Beyers. Is there a significant difference between the DT990 editions and the DT990 Pros in terms of the ear cup designs?

    • @CustomCans
      @CustomCans  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The drivers are the same but the earcups are slightly different with different openings on the back. I have modded both but not directly compared them. I may hav e to do that in another video

    I always like the DT880 - was my first serious headphone as a wee 18 year old (after the Sennheiser 555 as a wee-er 15 year old)
    I have gone through multiple pairs of them as their jack is non-detachable and I was not as careful with headphones as I am nowadays - maybe I should pick one up and have it modded by yours truly??
    Can you stock the 600ohm DT880 and send them out with a nice detachable cable?
    Would be interested in revisiting these headphones with an updated eye-popping headphone system!!
    Cheers

    There's no mention of diaphragm material and geometry.
    This is important in loudspeakers, so why isn't it in headphones?

    • @CustomCans
      @CustomCans  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are right, it is. We are currently in the process of designing some headphones and have been trying out different diaphragm materials and coatings. There are loads of stuff I missed in this but I squeezed quite a lot into 20 mins. We are planning on doing a video testing different driver designs and materials but it is a couple of months off being ready ... we are still trying to learn as we go along

      @@CustomCans Looking forward to it. We get zillions of headphone reviewers, but nothing about the design process.Such as; is damping for the management of the acoustic space, or for taming diaphragm breakup? I would love to know.

  • @mattstone5067

    What improvements are made to the 1990 by adding damping material?

    • @CustomCans
      @CustomCans  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      it is pretty subtle... The 1990 are more like semi open so there is still a lot of sound bouncing around inside - if you can cut down those reflections a bit it sound slightly less "boxy"

  • @Rod95ok
    @Rod95ok ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I've been interested in adding some dampening to my DT 1990 cups. What benefits does this have on the sound? Would you consider adding a dampening kit for the 1990 to your shop?

    • @CustomCans
      @CustomCans  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes we will add that soon. We have temperately sold out of DT1990s but when we get our next batch in, I will work on a DIY kit
