It's time for one of the world's most well known cocktails. The Singapore Sling. And according to me, the best version of it :)
This is a spicy (think sweet spices) fruit punch that I believe every bartender will make at some point in their career. I've had it ordered at several different occasions both in Sweden and the United States throughout my career.
    Singapore Sling
    1 dash Angostura Bitters
    1/4 oz (7.5ml) Cherry Heering
    1/4 oz (7.5ml) Orange Liqueur
    1/4 oz (7.5ml) Dom Benedictine
    1/4 oz (7.5ml) Grenadine
    1/2 oz (15ml) Lime Juice
    1 1/2 oz (45ml) Pineapple Juice
    1 1/2 oz (45ml) Gin
Shake well and serve in a Hurricane glass, garnish with cherries, pineapple fronds etc. Sit back and watch the sunset.

This is really great, man. I like how you point out the difference between Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur and Cherry Heering! That is legit informative!

Thank you very much! Yeah...I know from experience that once people find out what Maraschino is, they often think that they can substitute the Heering. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Not the same 😁

I've had a few Singapore Slings. But once, it was the greatest drink I've ever tasted. Even in the same bar, I've never been able to recapture it.
I think it's about the skill of the person making it.

Oooh man, this reminds me of a story. A few years ago, these two guys at the bar were literally yelling at each other at the top of their lungs debating whether this cocktail should be recategorized as a tiki instead of a sling. Like they almost came to blows. Seriously. At one point Team Tiki guy goes to the bathroom and when he does Team Sling guy guzzles Team Tiki guys drink and the runs out of the bar. Haha! I’ve never seen something like that in my 20 years. 🤣🤣🤣

That looks really great. It is in my Schedule for the end of the month, and you just made me even more excited. Thanks.
Regarding the orange liqueuer what do you think about it? I see it quite often, but it is one of the most expensive brands in France, being pricier than Cointreau, Mandarine Napoleon and Grand Marnier. Maybe only Clement Orange liqueuer is more expensive. So I have never used it and I am curious what do you think about it; Cheers.

      Thank you Peter!
I really like Combier, I've worked with it a lot. That and Clement actually. But since the original Singapore Sling uses Cointreau I would just go with that if you have it. I haven't tested them side by side in a while, but I'd be surprised if there was a big difference. Especially in a cocktail like this with a million ingredients.

No, but give it another 7 years, it'll happen 😉
I'm just speaking from my experiences working in Sweden at various establishments (nightclubs, hotels, cocktail bars, dive bars and everything in between) to New York City, working in upscale restaurants and hotels to more small cocktail driven places. I've had it ordered several times throughout the years. Maybe I've just been in the right (or wrong lol) spot! 😁🤷🏻‍♂️

I make these at home, and wouldn't hesitate to order one at a tiki bar. I would probably think twice about ordering it at a regular bar, unless they had it on the menu. I may order one from you just for the cringe!
