Thank you for this video. It's very educational. I have one question for now, is there more than 10 elements for the combative system of Choy Lay Fut?

Do you think you could do a video on the proper sparring/guard stance? Also, as a fellow Choy Li Fut practioner, I wanted to say that your videos are really well made, and your ability to perform forms and spar at a high level is very admirable.

Guo Jing thanks for the compliments. We have a video about the Bai Jong (ready stance) on our Facebook page. there is a link to our Facebook page on the official site

Just watched it! It's a very practical stance! Unfortunately, I couldn't see your feet placement in the video. Where does the front foot and back foot point towards? And do you need to bend your legs at all in the ready stance? Finally, do you know what the Chinese characters for Bai Jong are? Thanks!

Hey, im seeing you from Argentina. Im a martial arts nerd and i love CLF. I think you understood the "martial" sense of the technique. Can you please make a video with the kicking elements?

Can i ask?....here in U.S. there seems to be two grandmasters. Two or more families of choi lay fut. Does anyone know which family system is more comprehensive?...what about doc fai wong?

Jedidiah David it depends on what you’re looking for and where you’re located. If you want to get the most out of your training then I would suggest exploring local schools and find one that matches your goals regardless of what style of martial arts it is

Honestly, from what I've seen, the 'big styles" won't matter as much as two factors A.) what is available to your location and B.) the quality of the individual schools. I, personally, am training under Doc Fai Wong lineage, which is known as Hung Sing. It is quite literally the only CLF school in my state. I would have just as readily jumped on any other style. Also, remember, that CLF curriculum is about your school, but you are free to train whatever you want. For me, because I'm far enough away from my SIfu, that I only am with him twice a month. Luckily, as someone who trained Muay Thai for 10 years and competed for 7 years, I have the biofeedback and body awareness to pick up on things fast, the dedication to work hard everyday, and the knowledge of combat to apply it to actual combat. I mean, I'm lucky because I'm not just learning how to fight or anything.

When watching this, I asked myself the same question: is this useful on the street? Certainly trained will most often win over untrained, but watching these (perfect) forms, it seems 'stylistic' to me. In a scenario where one must win, and win quickly, I, personally, advise to move in (rather than defect), and neutralze with a single, devastating, hit.

CLF main idea , punch like a rock at the end of a rope. Arm relaxed till strike. Americans to much like karate. Yin and yang
