When my old man passed, I was given part of his Zippo collection to add to my own. Now, because he actually used these, some of them don't quite work the best anymore, but I haven't wanted to get them repaired out of sentimentality. I never thought of using an insert, but this has me sold. I can still use them without taking away from their history. Very awesome.
KhayosNinja if you didn't know you can also buy Zippo inserts. also for knowledge just in case if you send it in for repair and they can't fix it they will send the old one back. Jeff made a video testing it. I more than anyone understand the sentimentality but I thought I would just say something just in case
I just walked into the basement and pulled out my old zippo with a similar insert. Mine maintains the normal zippo flame style. It still lights after being packed away for a couple years. Honestly one of the best things you can do if you like zippos over other lighters.
I used to collect Zippos but the smell of the petrol always got to me. Plus it put a smell on my weed when burning hash. This is a cool product. There are some real cool Zippos out there though. The pin up classics are my fave like what were painted on WW2 bombers. I also seen a guy some weeks back on youtube that was wrapping them in custom leather to order. Very cool. Good stuff CL.
Im one of those kids who carries zippos and doesnt smoke anything XD. Love the channel btw, I found your channel a few weeks ago and havent stoped watching the vidoes. Keep up the good work :)
I use a dual flame butane insert in my brass Zippo Armor edition for your exact stated reason. An edc lighter with a maintenance schedule is never there when I need it since I don't smoke and thus don't regularly need my lighter
Way back when you did a review on the Thunderbird insert. Bought that after the video and loved it ever since. Works perfectly. But I had the same type of insert as this one. It was just a standard jet. Not any type of pipe specialty lighter
A full zippo that I use about 30 times a day (yes! I smoke) holds usually 14 days until I have to refill. That's enough for me. Although nthing for a bugout bag or something like this.
Hey Jeff, Fantastic review. I bought the Z-Plus after seeing your review of it years ago. I still have it and use it. I agree with you that the new Flip Double Flame is super cool and a great option! Thanks! Duane
Jeff. Vector Thunderbird makes a "yellow flame" Zippo insert. I really like it because it solves the evaporation problem and looks cool like the real Zippo and allows you to do the Zippo tricks. Runs on butane also. Check it out man!
I think you may have done a video comparing butane to traditional fuel before, but could you also compare a... would it be a torch vs regular flame? Like fuel consumption, etc.
I have using this one for years in europe(single flame and gas only when you push the button and not when you open the lid), so nothing new for me, not sure why they did something else in the usa with the gas operation, mine has dimples in the casing.
I have used that "new" Z Plus insert for years, and it has not aged well. Button is extremely loose and audibly raddled even through a closed zippo, and is maybe 3 mm too short for the case. On top of that, and maybe it's just mine, the fill valve is a royal pain.
So, you said the Z-plus insert doesn't have the same opening sound as a standard Zippo. My question is why? The old Z-plus is understandable, it had a mechanism attached to it, the new one doesn't. It's made by Zippo, for Zippos, so why didn't they use the same caming mechanism to get the same sound? Am I missing something?
can you do a video about how can we stripping the chrome plate and also the nickel plate underneath in a chemical way or physical way (like sanding) to make a old chrome zippo become a new brass zippo. I have try to use sandpaper but the result is not too good
I've owned several of these, and they worked great for years. The only issue I had was it takes pliers to get it out of the Zippo case for refilling. Over time the plastic will bulge just enough to make it a pain in the @$$ to get it out of the case. With any piezio spark lighter. NEVER use one to light fireworks. It kills the electrode wire.
What you didn't mention is that Zippos has a lifetime warranty, except on the butane torch insert which is 24 months. Also, no fuel window. There are better lighters for less.
Try to get your hands on some Vector lighters for review!! I remember you did the reviews on their "thunderbird" series, ever try their other models? They have the lifetime warranty right, I've used it
cutlerylover Is the chrome part of the chimany for the Zplus metal? Really interested but the cam, chimney and button look like chrome painted plastic to me.
because Zippo makes money on fuel too, lol in all seriousness they came out with the Zippo Blue which was a bigger butane lighter, interesting but kind of expensive I have an old review on one...I contacted Zippo several times in the past about making design upgrades and they agree they are good ideas but they wish to keep the original design because its so well known they sell themselves even with the "problems" or drawbacks they have they are iconic...
The SilverPhist Didn't know there were gas adapters. Personally, I would leave it as it is because the models I have are way over a grand (however a lot of their models are).
hehe yes that very true i got mine for £40 of ebay because i know how to spot a real one from a copy ;-) love it . cheap lights hurt my delicATE FINGER NOW
The SilverPhist You got lucky. You stumbled upon a bona fide idiot. Selling it would fetch a pretty penny but would leave you without a quality lighter in the procces.
People buy zippos cause they're re zippos (windproof petrol lighters) Buying a zippo and converting it into a butane torch kinda takes away the whole point of a zippo Just buy a torch lighter in the first place.
Can't agree with you.. I only use lighters for heating up a dynavap vaporzire.. But I desperately love the look of a zippo lighter, not even talking about all those tricks.. This is only viable option for me tbh, to go both ways a bit
I’m 16, me and all my friends (and pretty much everyone in my school) smoke weed, some people do some xanax or lean, but I don’t know anyone that smokes crack lol

The zippo stuff in all honesty is what I sub's for, so glad to see more content on it

Damn, I love the sound it makes when he clicks the lighter!
I'm a pipe smoker and I use a Z-Pipe insert in one of my Zippo Lighters. It works great.
I ordered a thinderbird single jet yesterday and now you come out with this video
Way back when you did a review on the Thunderbird insert. Bought that after the video and loved it ever since. Works perfectly. But I had the same type of insert as this one. It was just a standard jet. Not any type of pipe specialty lighter

My dad says Butane is a bastard gas.
Odinwolfe Hank Hill must be your father.
Lmao 😂
Papas’ always got a plan for y’all
your name should be öðin cause thats how the vikings spelled it
Jeff. Vector Thunderbird makes a "yellow flame" Zippo insert. I really like it because it solves the evaporation problem and looks cool like the real Zippo and allows you to do the Zippo tricks. Runs on butane also. Check it out man!
Balisong collection update!?

looking for such an insert for my zippo slim. Any idea where to procure one?
Best carry reason for a lighter is to pick up girls outside nightclubs when they looking for light ;) If you have this lighter they cant resist you!

You Should Check out Wasteland Oddities on etsy. He Wraps Zippos in leather and they look really nice. I bought two of them.
tyler97 who me
Well theres also the Thunderbird butane inserts. I've got a pipe lighter insert by them and It's perfect.
How long does the butane lighter last? Just roughly? Like how many cigars can you smoke before you need to refill?
Do you think that the insert would fit in a star brand zippo clone?
Z Plus now have a twin jet version of the Zippo insert, they call it the Double Cross Jet.
Does the insert come in a slim?
Did u get the new zippo brand tourch iv been having trouble with mine
Hey nice video! Have u ever tried to light a cigar with a normal fuel zippo? I mean does it rly make that much of a difference in taste? Keep it up!
Great vid man. I just recently got into having a cigar once in awhile. Just may have to pick one of these up!
can i take the 2 flame apart and put it in a zippo?
What you didn't mention is that Zippos has a lifetime warranty, except on the butane torch insert which is 24 months. Also, no fuel window. There are better lighters for less.

I haven't had any luck finding these in Canada for a reasonable price...the shipping is as much as the insert or more!
I can't find Vector lighters anywhere online!
Do you like z plus better than thunderbird?
yes I do, I have the thunderbird soft flame pipe lighter insert and its cool but no very reliable at all...
Some samples work good, some don't I've found
Is a butane lighter easy to refill ?
yes you put the tip of the nozzle in the hole on the bottom and press down for a few seconds...I have a video on how to fill butane lighters
cutlerylover Thanks dude I'll check it out, you're the best !
cutlerylover Is the chrome part of the chimany for the Zplus metal?
Really interested but the cam, chimney and button look like chrome painted plastic to me.
You need to purge it so theres no air in the tank, I've found that almost always gives you problems!
Great vid Jeff really kool product. Love your channel man.
Is the Extra Zippo Full Tank Not Reliable
I wonder how long until Jeff destroys his camera lens with a lighter.
Hopefully you don't but, hey that's what patreon is for, right?
actually no Patreon money doesn't go to camera equipment as I mentioned it goes to gear which then gets given back to the people who paid for it
That's really cool of you, Jeff.
Do they make an insert that fit the slim zippos?
No they do not.
They do but its hard to find
I got a thunderbird insert for a zippo and it leaked the butane out. You could hear it hissing out.
could you do a clipper video?
don't smoke so I prefer soft flame
I like zippo BLU. Not the same zippo design but they work great.
is the lighter from buylighters the 2.0 version? it doesnt say so in the page.
no the 2.0 version has 2 flames and a clear base
ohhh okay. thanks
does this come in normal flame versions?
Z-plus inserts are available with normal flame, i.e. normal butane flame.
I just put a piece of a bike tube on my Zippo I might get a soft flame insert
Coupon code?? Please
2 torch is waste i think, single torch is enough, 2 torch is just waste of fuel.
Excellent video,Jeff!!!
You rock Jeff!
why doesn't Zippo make this ?
because Zippo makes money on fuel too, lol in all seriousness they came out with the Zippo Blue which was a bigger butane lighter, interesting but kind of expensive I have an old review on one...I contacted Zippo several times in the past about making design upgrades and they agree they are good ideas but they wish to keep the original design because its so well known they sell themselves even with the "problems" or drawbacks they have they are iconic...
tom casio I like the Zippo blue but the wave on the lid is a turn off for me
Nanchi Knives there is a blu2, I have one but it kinda sucks..
AND. . . For a couple more bucks you can get that Zippo insert with a dual flame option.
I like ther torch flame, but i dont like the design of the insert.
Only now then they have released these torch flame inserts they can call zippo a windproof lighter.
Vytautas Mackūnas i just bought one, will arive in December. They ran out of stock in like a day
I like the thunderbird for Zippo better
thwy are sold out .
Not big in to lighters but that's a cool option
Cool review Thanks !!!
Dude.....why?
Подскажите z plus продают уже заправлеными?
A jet lighter aint no good for cigeretttes burns it too much
awwwww...Jeff, you missed a near perfect pun, it mis-FIRES, instead of miss lights
dupont line 2
The SilverPhist Dupont gas is not cheap, neither the lighters themselves. So most people would skip them.
very true but with a little gas adapter that can be overcome and there amazing to use long term . ""ping" :-)
The SilverPhist Didn't know there were gas adapters. Personally, I would leave it as it is because the models I have are way over a grand (however a lot of their models are).

Junk. Just bought one. Doesn't work. Hasn't even lit once
did you fill it up
I don't even have a zippo...
