My favourite city that I have been to and I have been to many around the world. I have been to Malaysia 6 times now visiting KL, Johor Bahru, Melaka, Genting Highlands, Kuala Terengganu, Kapas Island, Putrajaya, Penang, Langkawi, Perhentian Islands, Redang Island, Tioman Islands, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Semporna, Mabul Island and Sipadan Island. I'm from Kuala Lumpur, I've been living here my whole life. Here are my personal recommendations:
    ISLANDS:
    - Pulau Redang
    - Pulau Kapas
    - Pulau Tioman
    - Pulau Perhentian
    - Pulau Sipadan (over at East Malaysia, one of the best diving sites in the region and best in Malaysia)
    NATIONAL PARKS:
    - Taman Negara (one of, if not the world's oldest tropical rainforest)
    - Kinabalu National Park
    - Gunung Mulu National Park
    - Bako National Park (Bako, Kinabalu and Gunung Mulu National Parks are in East Malaysia)
    FOOD HAVEN CITIES:
    - Penang
    - Ipoh
    - Malacca
    - Kuching
FOODS TO TRY (there are way too many, but here are some popular ones):
    - Nasi Lemak
    - Nasi Kandar
    - Nasi Kerabu
    - Chicken Rendang
    - Satay
    - Bak Kut Teh
    - Claypot Chicken Rice
    - Curry Laksa
    - Wonton Mee
    - Nasi Briyani
    - Banana Leaf Rice
    - Roti Canai / Roti Planta / Roti Bom
    BEACHES:
I'm not so sure about these, but just know that the beaches on the east coast of the peninsula are cleaner and more pristine than the more developed west coast. East Malaysia has really nice beaches too
    MUSEUMS:
    - Bank Negara Museum
    - Royal Selangor Visitor Center
    OTHER WORTHY PLACES TO VISIT:
    - Langkawi
    - Genting Highlands
    - Cameron Highlands (the only truly cold tourist destination on West Malaysia besides Genting and Fraser's Hill. The tea plantations here are pretty massive, especially the BOH tea plantation)
    - Kota Kinabalu (East Malaysia)
    - ESCAPE Theme Park Penang (they have the world's longest waterslide at 1,111m. I'd go there just for that 😂)
    - Sekinchan (small rice field town on the outskirts of the Klang Valley)
    - Malacca City
There are more, but I only have time for this now 😅

The land area of Malaysia is a bit bigger than the Philippines, but their population is only 34 million. Imagine, one million tourists come to Malaysia every month maybe because they have much better infrastructure, so much variety of foods, cleaner environment, less traffic compared to neighboring countries, not much crazy rules compared to Singapore and everything is cheaper! it's a good place for expats to retire. Every race and religion can coexist in peace and unity.

I am a Filipino living here in KL. When I first went to KL around 2013, i told myself that I won't go back here anymore, I did not enjoy my short trip that time. But I was brought here again in 2017 for a new job. And guess what, like the 2 of you, it's like a new discovery. I started to love Malaysia and I couldn't help but compare it to Philippines. Then, I got married and now I have a toddler. What I love about KL (well and also Selangor and Putrajaya) is that there are a lot of parks available for my daughter to enjoy. And the good thing is it's free :) and when it's too hot/humid for a park, there are also a lot of big playlands available in the malls.. KLCC is one of my fave places because of the big park and public pool for the kids. The only trick here in KLCC/Suria mall is to go early in the morning before noon time because it can really get crowded specially on weekends because of the tourists, buses and buses of tourists.
In terms of house rental, there are also a lot of nice apartments with 2 to 3 rooms that are way cheaper when you compare with Metro Manila prices.. maybe not in the city center but there are apartments that are so near to LRT/MRT..
About wifi, internet in Malaysia is better than the Philippines 😅 and there's Arabica coffee here in Malaysia fyi 😁

Just to note that my personal internet connection (WiFi) at home hovers between 200 to 300 Mbps and the fastest internet connection I got on my phone with the 5G network is 1.3 Gbps, or about 800 Mbps on average. for beaches, the east coast & Sabah has the best beaches. best time to visit the east coast is from March to August/Sept. Oct-Feb is the monsoon season and the beaches are closed. Johor has nice beaches too. As a KL girl I thought the KL has always been that way, lots of parks, lots of greens. I went to school next to the forest reserve, and the perdana botanical garden & the national birk park are just 10 minutes away from where I lived, so all I've seen growing up are forests, parks, big trees and green patches. probably there's more greenery in the city center because back then there was a lot of construction and now they're finished building and they included more green spaces as well.
