What a beautiful edition to an already gorgeous place! We are so very lucky to call this wonderful place home. To the naysayers, switch off your TVs and visit this amazing place in person.
Just for yourselves! Of course you love it. Now, when do those of us in average cities around the country get such Avery expensive park? Pelosi got $200 million from everybody outside of Frisco to make your park very elite. Not another penny of state or federal funds should ever go towards that park. At least not for two hundred years.
Took long enough. I remember finishing building the tunnels and commissioning them back in 2016. They were supposed to be finished with landscaping less than a year later. Only 5 years behind schedule for landscaping. Only took us 1 1/2 years to build the tunnels
Well, Pelosi added $200 million to a multi trillion dollar spending bill to finish your extremely expensive park. Basic grass, trees, picnic benches, and basic play equipment too common for you people and Pelosi? Quite a few bases were shut down or downsized across the country during Clinton’s administration. Feds didn’t send millions to each for them to be converted to public use. Neither Norton AFB nor March AFB, two bases in the inland low desert of SoCal had lavish amounts of money spent on them by the Feds or the State. But then they are nowhere near the coasts where most of the extremely ignorant and entitled airheads live. You people think you deserve the best and think everybody else can afford to pay for it. I was born in S. California in the early 50s. Lived in five of its Counties during the first 65 years of my life. Except while my then husband was in the Navy, always at least 35 miles as the crow flies from the coats or the LA Basin. You Coastals screw inlanders up one end and down the other when you vote. You are totally ignorant about us. We are part of the “fly over” you Coastals look down on or drive through quickly to get to Vegas, Reno, or the ski resorts. I was in Frisco once. Wrong day in 1989. I was extremely shocked at how it wasn’t prepared for that size of an earthquake. Well, if another one that size hits before your now infamous “Leaning Tower” is straightened up, it will be far worse. Yes, you can pump water from the ocean to put out the fires, a privilege most near the San Andreas do not have. You privileged will get way more state and federal funds to rebuild and reinforce than other communities. As far as I am concerned, no rebuilding should be done. Just dump the rubble around your shores, cover things with sand or dirt, and make the areas open space. As should have been the case after it was destroyed twice. When they didn’t know why that was a bad place to build large and crowded, I can not fault them. But we have known why since way before I was born. You choose to live on a spot that can be hit by an at least 8.2 earthquake then you people fix things out of your own pocket. That is what is fair at this point. NYC, New Orleans, Los Angeles, and a few other major cities need to take care of yourselves more. And not by putting your hands in other peoples pockets. Oh, how many homeless addicts are living in that Park now? Or does Pelosi and the Mayor make sure it is nice and clean for their enjoyment?
As long as people and other mammals of all walks of life can enjoy this welcoming free space, the homeless should be free to encamp there. It’s like a sanctuary park space.
There’s actually not a big “homeless” problem out there. They have presidio PD and Park Rangers that not only watch the park like a Hawk they respond within moments when called. And they respond to all calls. They even enforce no trespassing laws, no camping etc. I know I know… it’s crazy! Lol During construction the only problems they had were with skateboarder tearing up the benches. They didn’t have night security out there because it’s remarkably safe there. The challenge won’t be the homeless, it will be the skateboarders.
You really don't need trees there...plus you could bring your umbrella I suppose. Its like going to the beach. Who ask for trees at the beach or water front?
You’re right, there aren’t many trees - a reasonable concern but I visited the park today and the unbroken sight lines are arguably worth it! There are amazing vistas everywhere you look, and I think those were prioritized over shade. You get a 180 panorama from the Bridge to the Bay, Alcatraz, Palace, and downtown. There are many wide open lawns and I think it’s fine to bring pop up tents for picnics :)
Shame everyone is bots these days. 0 coherent thoughts in these comments just the same repeated comments about how this is a great place for homeless. If only we paid taxes to people to provide for the poor and homeless... I wonder what they do with all that tax money... Probably put it in their pockets because everyone's gonna be too stupid to ask about it. They would rather feel smug and superior while talking down at homeless people... Way too busy to question why there's homeless people in the first place since you pay all those taxes. That don't seem to be getting used to help the homeless... But anyway don't let me stop yall from being brainless bots
Everyone here: homeless encampment in a month... Karen: superspreader in 2 weeks. Those children need masks. Where's the hand sanitzerrrrr!? How dare those kids touch everything!!!
I miss the old days when the presidio was off limits to the public, and you were guaranteed to get a ticket or harassed by the Presidio police, for running stop signs… I’ll pass, oh wait I don’t live in SF anymore…
“I feel like I’m just a little kid again” 😂
Lol yeah.. From when did 8 year old start feeling they are adults
Need to do a follow up story in a month after the homeless has taken over.
I was about to say that
Or superspreader park. Don't forget about THE COVEY
Homeless can’t be there. Federal land

That’s nice of SF to give a nice place for the homeless
1 year later and no homeless...they're planning to expand this area also

It takes time for all the democrats to take their cut along the way.
It's done......are you going?

Homeless people will occupy this park within a month.
Don’t forget the smash and grab thieves.
@@midicronica1 OH YOU SHUT UP, TRUMPSTER FREAK, BECAUSE THAT WILL NEVER EVER, EVER HAPPEN!!!!!
It’s federal land, so homeless encampments aren’t gonna happen 👍

great, please make a pedestrian walkway on the Bay Bridge next
Nice news-so rare these days
I can see it now, encampments everywhere.
OH YOU SHUT UP, GABRIEL THE TRUMPSTER FREAK!!!!!
Federal land, so no encampments 🙌
very nice! can't wait to go
How long before the homeless tents take over the park?
Please tell your kids to leave the dirty needles alone
Can't wait for homeless people to move in 😂🤣
As long as the public frequent it and activities keep getting held there it hsould be ok

Nope, homeless didn't move in 😊😊
I give it 6 months before it is taken over by drug user and homeless.
Homeless camp. But it is lovely!
Give it a month, a homeless encampment will take it over.
1 year later and no homeless encampment 😊😊
Where are the trees‽ There’s like no shade anywhere. Absolutely beautiful park otherwise
They wouldn’t be able to keep trees alive during the drought. It’ll be hard work to keep what they did plant alive.

Soon it would be home to drug addicts and homeless
Don’t make things to people “feel” welcome but to be welcomed period!
Looks beautiful
Pretend trends to climb, surrounded by a million real trees
You're gonna wake tomorrow to a bunch of homeless chilling 😂😂😂
Wonderful
WOW, this is awesome.
Very, very nice. Thank god I don’t live there anymore though…
A new homeless camp site.
...great.
Just watch out for needles and crap on the ground that is all.
OH YOU SHUT UP, SETH THE TRUMPSTER FREAK!!!!!
We are in California. We love to Gush BS.
A new hangout for the drug addicts! Thanks, Pelosi!
How many needles and piles of shi@ do you have to wade through to get to it though?
Once you wade through all the hypodermic needles and human feces I'm sure it's a lovely park.
Exactly what I was thinking.
sorry, but for such a large rich city that place just looks sad. If that is your idea of awesome....you have very low expectations
It's SF, what did you expect?
lol covid wave
This is awesome!
New homeless camp 🏕
It’s gonna be a giant homeless encampment in about a month.
Can we shit on it,, and store our needles in it?
From Tijuana to San Fran
Nice place for a new homeless camp. Btw nothing is a must see in calitoilet 💩
Hahahahaha what a fkn joke
“To make everyone feel welcome” even people who vote Republican? Or homeless?
See now before it's full of poop and needles
