I have very fond memories of Momochi vs. Gamerbee at the EVO 2015 Grand Finals for USFIV... that was just pure drama on top of being a bloody brilliant match, what with the counterpicks and the controller issues and all.
Gamerbee's Losers Finals against Infiltration (from the same tournament) was also an insanely tense fight... Honestly, they could've done a film about that EVO alone.

    • @JoelBurger

Sajam just breezing past Momochi vs Gamerbee's Evo 2015 Grand FInals set. Gamerbee coming in from losers bracket all the way to grand finals, resetting the bracket, taking that all the way to last match, the controller disconnect, the clusterfuck that followed trying to figure out what happens next, and lastly the bittersweet final round where Momochi goes on to win his first SF4 evo championship during the last year SF4 would be a main game there. Sajam that was an amazing set. He’s definitely underrating it. Adon pretty boring but beating him with a shoto (even if he had to go e ryu) balances the boringness out. Also daigo beating adon in 2013 was amazing and he brushed that off as “daigo kicking the shit out of him” when in reality daigo had to clutch out every single round from an ungodly read.

Mang0 vs Zain at The Big House 9 is pretty recent, but still holds as my favorite set. The tournament itaelf was already amazing, and served to made the gfs even better. The journey mang0 went through, having to slog through 15 games already in losers, and this being the epic 10 game grands showed peak melee, but at the same time, showed that there's still so much more to the game.

As a Smash player I can appreciate Leffen vs GO1 CEO being in the mentions for DBFZ, but I think SonicFox GO1 at EVO is probably the better pick overall if you’re picking the best one. Leffen GO1 is probably top 3 for that game though.
For SFIV I’m kind of surprised how many years I watched that game but can’t think of one set that really stands out above everything else. Not sure what to go for with that one.
For MVC3 I’m definitely putting a vote in for Justin vs Chris G at EVO Grands; that shit was fantastic.
I know you didn’t do Melee, but just since that’s the game I’ve followed the longest, I’ll indulge myself a little and say Mango vs Armada at Genesis 1 and 2, PPMD vs Armada at Pound V, and Mango vs Zain at Summit 11.

Ryan in grand finals winners, gets absolutely washed by PR Rog in the first set and it looks like his soul has left his body. He is getting completely bullied and has no answers to any of it. He then goes into Ryan Hart meditation zen mode for a couple of minutes, comes back to it and completely shuts Rog down as both Rog and his coach (JWong) try to figure out what the hell is happening. Definitely one of the sets I've rewatched the most times. Ryan vs. Momochi from Capcom Cup is also great. I think I just want Ryan to have one on the SF4 list ha.

the Nemo v Punk FT10 exhibition is by far my personal GOAT set. There's so much cool shit happening in it that I go back and watch it just to get hype. Def not a general GOAT set but it's always worth a watch.

If you haven't seen Kusoru vs SteveH from the GG AC grand finals of Final Round XV, you should get on that. It's probably the funniest set I've ever seen regardless of game.

Didn't see Balrog vs Daigo CP Cup 2014 on the list, when Balrog wins last round with a full red focus. One of the greatest set for me, still the remember the hype when I was watching it on live few years later

Probably not GOAT material but Pepeday vs Poongko at CanadaCup GF years ago was one of the most entertaining matches I've ever seen in 10 years of viewing.

honestly i was confused at the lack of melee, but i do agree with the rest of the list. melee is fucking mental.

One set which I think is extremely underrated is the KAKUTOP League III match of Gagapa vs Infexious. That set is the one set I always come back to.

Cloud805 vs FChamp has got to be up there for UMvC3 for me, that set was amazing.
I came up with a short list of sets for Skullgirls since you didn't/couldn't cover it (no order):
Liam vs Elda Taluda Frosty Faustings 2018
SonicFox vs Cloudking NEC16 (winners semis)
SonicFox vs Cloud (aka Cloudking) CEOtaku 2019 (Grand Finals)
    SonicFox vs Swiftfox-dash CB 2018
    Rabbleflaggers vs sev CB 2019
Dekillsage vs TJgamer (aka Swiftfox) EVO 2014 (this one suffers from being relatively early in the game's life + being kinda domination by Sage but I remember finding it super hype when I started so I'm including it)

I got one. When Spark, an American player, won Blazblue at Evo. Absolutely god like defensive play from him. I think it was...2012?

Justin vs Chris G Evo 2013 would be my pick for UMVC3. It has everything. Justin is the HUGE UNDERDOG and if you were watching MVC3 majors that year you KNOW how fucking free and dominant ChrisG made every opponent, Justin included. That year everyone thought it was ChrisG's Evo to win and Justin had a notably losing record against him ever since Chris switched to the MorriDoom team. For Justin to go down 0-2, and then come back and reverse sweep ChrisG, that year, in that set, on that stage, was insane.
Also I think ChrisG vs FChamp either that year or before (where they both were so nervous they were misplaying left and right) was a great set in spite of it being technically a poorly played one.

LTG vs Viscant. Don't care how basic the play was, that was more heat than a yoga catastrophe.

Its crazy how DBFZ brought more players over from different games to America so they can play those other games. Like Fenrich got to finally play Blazblue in America

Imo for the SFV section Tokido vs Infil CEO 2016 GF. Infil was bodying Tokido up until that tourney and in the set you could tell Tokido labbed some stuff and beat him in style with parries n shit.

EDIT: I missed Sajam mentioned it.
SF4: Gamerbee vs Infiltration Losers Final Evo 2015
Closely contested, the back and forth momentum change, the healing, the character picks, judge calling time on Infiltration, and he surprise picks Juri.
I'm surprised no one mentioned it, and mention the GF instead.

Sajam did. He said that set might be better than the GF. Since outside of the stick malfunction. It was kinda just Gamerbee getting run over by Evil Ryu
