After the pilots got out it exploded! The fuel line was not connected to the heaters on a DC-3, according to the older & more knowledgeable co-Pilot, Ferguson. Rank told Ferguson not to say anything about the faulty heaters because they turned them back on.

Ricky Nelson and his music was very popular and his fans were devastated about the news of his death. Another musician lost too early. His 3 sons have carried on with musical careers. Hadn't thought about Ricky Nelson or his brother, David, along with mom and dad on The Ozzie and Harriett Show. Those days were the good old days when TV programs showed family fun not like today where love is competed for, always arguing and swearing and back then, musicians sang good clean music and didn't hop around on stage less than half clothed twerking their butts or grabbing their crotch and sang the lyrics that one could understand. Don't get me wrong, not all.musicians mumble, swear, or sing almost nude but there is a bunch that do and it's not entertaining.

Back in 1985 I was listening to Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen, and Elvis. For some reason I never knew this music existed as a matter of fact when I heard his son's playing don't get me wrong I know who Ricky was cuz I used to watch the Ozzie and Harriet. In 1961 I was 13 and I went to New York to see my mom's mom. I was standing in the living room Ricky was singing traveling Man and I seen a video with the song at that time I didn't know I was ever going to be a singer. I love James Burton and I stumble upon this rock and roll songs by Ricky that I never knew about. Now I'm going nuts over them. I'm in a band and I'm learning some of Ricky's songs now. Yeah this is really swell, like how the band and Ricky dressed for the show. This has also been my favorite song of Buddy's. The V tailed Bonanza and the DC 3 are two cool classic airplanes that are as timeless as these men and their music. A little sadness but a lot to be grateful for as well when you're born on February 3. But what else to do but keep flying and playing good music.

Nope ! David Nelson is Ricky's older brother. David never became a musician, never played an instrument or sang in Ricky's band(s). David was an actor and he was the businessman for the entire Nelson family. David passed away in 2011, 26 years after this Rave On video.

Eerie to think that this Buddy Holly tune was Rick’s last. They both fell out of the sky & into our hearts forever.
