I wonder what it's going to be like waaaay later. Imagine booting up a GameCube in, say, 2503 (or using your current technology to access the game in some other way) and wandering around somebody's town, knowing that the original owner died hundreds of years ago and that they probably had tons of memories in that town that you will never know.
The statue of a peeing man is an actual thing in Belgium. It is called Manneke Pis (Little Pissing Man) and it is a statue of a naked little boy with water coming out of his youknow.
For how much chaos there is in this, you've made me realize how little I accomplished in my own over 20 year old save file. I never got any gold tools nor statue, never got Nook's up to its final form, and never put signs down naming things after myself or interests. I feel awful about my village lol
The NES without software is not decorative, it's a remanent of a cut feature. What it actually does when you interact with it is that it searches the memory card for NES ROMs that are saved to it. People have reverse engineered it and figured out how to load these ROMs onto the memory card for you to be able to play them through Animal Crossing.
I love the villagers from the original AC. They feel more real. Even the current "cranky" characters are happy-go-lucky. Maybe that's why they started making the designing more important than villager interactions. I want a character to get mad at me if I haven't talked to them for a long time. Now they just give pity parties. Which I hate.
That's one of the aspects I was disappointed with in New Horizons after playing it long enough, the quality of the character interactions doesn't feel at all the same as it does in Animal Crossing on GC.
They changed it because of hurt feelings from them being too mean. Thus why we no longer have Resetti telling us how our path is leading us to a horror future for restarting.
I love seeing people's old towns! I only got into AC a couple of years ago so while I've been playing the older games, the history is missing. I wish I'd been able to enjoy each game as they released.
God, that first villiager saying they moved to another town gave me war flashbacks to the time Tangy, my favorite villager back then, moved to my friend Zach's town and I got SO mad thinking he made it happen somehow
Aww, this was so fun! I love the random signs to claim land. Lol I also really miss Nookingtons too! ahhh this makes me wish I could visit my own town, but I don't think I have the data anymore, sadly
I love videos like this so so much- the absolute chaos that the younger versions of ourselves ensued, so much appreciation for this game! Thanks Dan for an incredible video!
Dan's already doing Goldcore 16 years ago. I see where you got that idea, or at least it has been living rent-free for 16 years since you finished Goldcore island
A peeing statue in the middle of your living room is exactly what we all expected/hoped to see from past Dan. You're more cultured these days with the fart jars But I'll always believe now that your real name is Jerry and you panicked and had to make up an excuse on the spot when you saw it on the save. 🤣🤨🤔 I like that the real story of the gamecube, The Crust, was saved as a special treat for us livestream viewers 🥰🥲
Ooo, I need to look over my old GameCube memory cards, I still have some of it in storage. I doubt I kept my first save, but maybe my 2nd. I never got far. I also haven't played an Animal Crossing game since lol I was honestly obsessed with collecting stuff for the museum.
Something about this sounds like a creepy pasta. Like the villagers trapped in a town for 190 months while the overlord PC is away. Nothing can change, its stagnant as the world only updates while the game is being played. Then one day, the PC comes back and everyones like "you kept us trapped here and waiting for you to come back for *190 months*
Another hilarious video put up by Dan lol 😁😂! I'm sorry I've been really busy lately so I haven't been able to make it to some of the your streams, but I'm hoping I will soon! Thanks for always providing ample entertainment and I hope you are doing well 🥰😁.
I didnt have the original animal crossing as a kid because i distinctly remember just being confused by the title. So, i got it years later in my teen years and lately ive been thinking about grabbing it when i go to my parents, this definitely tells me i should.
Maybe you should check around for Paper Airplane corruption as that's something that can happen to older towns. If you find any signs of it, drop an item on the Paper Airplane
incredibly enough, when I went to load up my 20 year old animal crossing town, it loaded once and would not save telling me the memory card was corrupted. Tried it in a different system and it wouldn't load, somehow though I was still able to clone it with my wii that has the homebrew channel and all that. The clone somehow worked even though the game reported the original card as corrupted, i guess it was still good enough to copy the data off one last time but not good enough to actually play
My first AC experience has been New Horizons and I WISH the villagers kept their sassiness. Don't get me wrong I love my villagers, but the ones from older versions feel much more "real" compared to the ones in NH
10:32 this is a famous statue in Belgium called the mannequin pis. i am probably misspelling mannequin for Flemish but yeah lol oh yeah he saved Brussels by peeing on it during a fire or something. at least that is what i was told as a child living in Brussels lmfao.
I've been wanting to do this for years. I can't find the game though, and looked up the price for even loose/scratched disks, and that's where it ended. But somehow I know everyone's still ok and the town continues as normal on that little gray rectangle... (yes I know that's not really how it works).
I'm not surprised. The gamecube didn't actually do all that well, and the game was weird and unknown when it first came out. I don't know anyone else who played the original at the time. But now that it's a popular series more people want to revisit or try the original. Plus, the fact that it's 20 years old. I'm still hoping it's just somewhere in a wrong game case or a random DVD case or something.
I could have, I just bought the wrong thing cause I wasn't paying attention and at that point I felt silly buying ANOTHER Wii. So now I have one of each 😅
If you had a friend's memory card you could insert it into slot 2 of your GameCube and that would allow you to hop on a train and visit their town. You couldn't play *with* them but you could explore on your own
Im allowed to round up 2 months I think 😅 Unless you're talking about the "20 year" bit in the title. I started the town 20 years ago, just to be clear.
I had this game years ago but sold it because I never got much into it. I still have my Wii but I'm unsure if I still have ny save file. I should look into it because if thats the case it might be worth picking up a copy of the game. Now that I've sunk crazy hours into New Leaf and New Horizons, lol

The console would already be dust by then lmao
@@vi0let831you cant say that for sure
@@ChicagoMel23
2503 is literally 480 years from now, it's DEFINITELY going to be just dust lmao 💀
I wonder if video games as we know them would exist by that time…
Memory cards will have deteriorated by then.
Young Dan calling his character Jerry for no reason is iconic. 10/10 town 😂

Timmy and Tommy are in the first game?!!!!! Omg!!! Never knew, didn’t have friends who played so I never upgraded.
you say they won't remake the original because of that statue, but new horizons included the statue of david uncensored so anything's possible 😂
The one here is a kid. David was an adult in the statue. Not the same
I got that one yesterday and was “wth they didn’t censor that?”

My legit instant reaction: "HA! *HAHA*! Never."
nah i can't be the only one that thought it said trolling
We've been deprived of the pee fountain in acnh and I feel cheated tbh
THE PEE FOUNTAIN!
THE ALMIGHTY PEE FOUNTAIN
Seeing the name Peewee at 2:30 made me sad once again at the death of Peewee Herman 😢

Cowabunga! Fantastic this 🐢🍕👍
I had the statue too…I can’t begin to imagine how many hours of my youth I put into this game instead of doing anything productive omg
