I think the people criticizing you ought to go do their own restorations, honestly, especially given that this is your channel, your toys, and your decisions.
i love that you're giving these to your 4 year old. giving these old cars a new life as they're meant to be; played with, not sitting on a collector's shelf gathering dust (not that there's anything wrong with restoration for collecting, it's just refreshing to see you do this). good videos. you, and baremetalHW, are my fave redline channels.
These videos are too fun to watch! Don’t worry about the know it alls! Your videos are great and you do a great job with a neat hobby. What makes it even better is that you share with your grandson. I hope one day I’m as good a grandfather as you are.
I think you are great! There will always be haters. What you are doing for your grandson (I think it is your grandson) is priceless memories. I am just starting this hobby and plan on having my own channel. Keep them coming! I look forward to them!
I noticed you had some difficulty with the paint on that glass I work as a car detailer and some times we have to deal with paint on glass. What I would recommend instead of trying to scratch and buff it off like you did. If its actual glass use a razor blade or any thin flat blade and slide underneath it if its plastic a use a plastic blade. You can also try a product called traminator for harder stuff.
Thanks for addressing the whole primer thing before spraying spectraflame paint. I had a couple of those comments on my videos. That silver base coat you used looks very smooth and clean. Love that blue color. Mind you I hate blue but it's grown on my lately. Great videos man thanks for sharing.
I had no idea hot wheels restoration was a thing until this past week. Now I can't get enough. I really enjoy your videos, the fact your giving them to your son, and this isn't your career makes me enjoy these even more!! Keep doing what you're doing!
You shouldn't have to defend yourself on your work! I really appreciate the work in getting the videos out and I really enjoy them even if I am not a toy car guy. Keep up the great work!
Your videos are a great watch for my son and I . Please don't spend a second speaking to your critic's. Our time and yours are a valuable commodity.enjoy!
Great video. I think that your giving it to a four year old is great. Every time my grandkids come over I give them a car as I have about a 1000 hot wheels
Looks great! It needs two white racing stripes on the hood and roof and two black numbers in white circles on the doors. Love to see the before and after images!
stunning work mate, i am not really in to model cars but your videos are surprisingly entertaining! and I cannot immagine how happy the kid who you`ll give these will be! good job!
Good job, Man! You don't need to explain anything. It's amazing, that You manage to find time for these restorations. I enjoyed the video and I don't even collect :)
It's weird... I have no real interest in toy cars or toys in general, but lately I've subscribed to no less than three Hot Wheels/Matchbox restoration channels and Toy Polloi. After watching for a few weeks, I've rummaged through my basement and found my own old toys and I've repaired and restored several pieces and given them to my children. I've also repaired several Barbie Doll-limbs (thanks Toy Polloi). It's not really about saving money or thinking of the environment, it's just fun. Anyway, thanks to all these restoration channels, including WheelsNThangs.
Thats a really nice job i hope i could have the tools to do the same! I would like to see the aftermath...i mean how the restored cars end up after your kids play with them for some months. Also i do appreciate that even with all your busy life you keep uploading videos. Cheers from Mexico.
Beautiful job. Stunning paint job! The first of your Redlines videos that I’ve seen. Lots of new techniques learned. I must get one of those tumblers 🤗👍. Subscribed.
I’ve seen bullet reload brass polished in those tumblers, if you put a few dollops of mother’s aluminum and mag polish in the media it really changes the way it finishes the contents you want polished
Just found your channel, your videos are awesome! Don’t blame you for not going overboard if they’re just going to be played with. Anyways, keep up the great work
I remember playing with some old metal cars from the 1960 at my grannys house every christmas as a kid, and now i wonder where dit we put that box of old toys 😊
Love it!!!! I made sure too infect my boys with Hot Wheels at a young age too! I'm now 42, My oldest is 19, with Irish twins 17 and 16. We all customize Hot Wheels today!!! Keeps me outta the bar's and my boy's close to me.......Respect to you for being a good Father!!!! Screw the haters!!!!!
you could technically use primer with spectraflame, but I believe you have to spray it with metallic paint after the primer and then the spectraflame and it should work. I know wicked colors has some. might be something you like. also, awesome videos you make.
Great video . I did not know that Hot Wheels made a Ford J car! Out of all the Ford GT cars of the sixties,I have always liked the J car the best even though it probably had the worst record. Thank you for the video.
There is a line of paints by Duplicolor called metalcast and they have a product called ground coat that you use to make the surface super shiny. On car that you feel primer may be needed it could be a way to go. Also Duplicolor has a spray Adhesion promoter that might be useful under spectraflame paint since it is clear but my understanding is spectraflame is pretty durable so it probably isn't needed. Great video sir.
May I also suggest that if you use silver paint underneath that you bury it with a layer of clear. The solvents in the low hide flame paint could soften the metallic and cause it to drop. Zinc kits aren't always the answer.
Hey dude I think u do a great job on all your cars u do as for the people who say u should do that way and that way should they just wish they could do what u do have a nice Holiday
Very nice restoration! To really achieve the factory spectra-flame paint job, the surface of the body needs to be nearly chrome-like....obtained by either chrome dipping (too expensive), extensive polishing or painted using Molotow chrome pen refill shot thru an airbrush.
As a Le Mans fanatic, I have to say that the J Car was actually the prototype of the '67 GT MKIV, and it was built in 1966, not in 1968. (Over 5l cars were banned from the 24h of Mans since that year)
I'm used to watch Hot Wheels's cars restorations from hwbaremetal. Although his work might be better or more dedicated than yours, I personally prefer your work for the simple reason that you seem to be more realistic and down-to-earth about the processes used and the time you spend doing it. Therefore I feel more in touch with this kind of videos. It's something that you enjoy doing and you are fairly talented at. Keep it up!
Thanks, I appreciate the kind words! He is certainly more dedicated than myself and does great work. One of the things I like to do is show the finished product as up close as possible which hides zero defects. Sometimes it even picks up things you cannot see in person. I could easily angle the camera a bit different and soften the lighting to make the cars look perfect but what fun would that be :)
Nice job man... Dont listen to haters. There is another channel that does this sort of thing to. And he paints directly on the body. And they look crisp.. So go for it.. In the end its yours :)
I spend a lot of time watching your videos, right now the Charger and the Lambo you modified to your taste are my 2 fav. Thank you for taking the time and making these videos. One question, and please dont take this the wrong way, the replacement wheels with that red line, is that the only wheels there is? Or are they just the cheapest?
No biggie but, the J Car and the MKIV are two completely different animals. Ken Miles was killed at Riverside testing a J Car. The car was destroyed beyond the point of ascertaining the reason for the crash. The J Car program was scrapped without one ever running in a race. Maybe it has already been addressed, I didn't read the comments. Good job, I always enjoy your work. This is one of my go-to channels for HW and JL stuff.
memories, this is one of the cars my brother had , and passed down to me, it was missing the rear cover all the time i had it, and was of course beat up, my brother is almost 60 so, its weird in a way
I'm not really into Hot wheels but I do enjoy seeing things that look like junk made new again. Nice job.
I think the people criticizing you ought to go do their own restorations, honestly, especially given that this is your channel, your toys, and your decisions.
Thanks, it doesn't bother me :)
criticism, constructive criticism or matter of opinion.....
Idk why this popped up in my recommendations but this was actually quite entertaining.
i love that you're giving these to your 4 year old. giving these old cars a new life as they're meant to be; played with, not sitting on a collector's shelf gathering dust (not that there's anything wrong with restoration for collecting, it's just refreshing to see you do this).

Thank you, I appreciate it!
I've got a load like this on a shelf that I've 'restored' myself. Some are good, some are not but they're all mine. I enjoyed this video. You do you.
I've watched loads of the videos now. I'm not even into cars. I don't collect them. I just love to watch good craftsmanship!
I think you are great! There will always be haters. What you are doing for your grandson (I think it is your grandson) is priceless memories. I am just starting this hobby and plan on having my own channel. Keep them coming! I look forward to them!
Excellent job. I like that you primed the car with a chrome paint instead of polishing, gives me another way to paint, thank you👍👍
Thank you for watching!
I noticed you had some difficulty with the paint on that glass I work as a car detailer and some times we have to deal with paint on glass. use car polish is great for plastic
This does take talent. Everyone's a critic these days. Just keep doing what you're doing. Many thanks
Thank you for posting your work. Very artistic stuff. I hope the young one appreciates your efforts!
Thanks for addressing the whole primer thing before spraying spectraflame paint. I had a couple of those comments on my videos.
That silver base coat you used looks very smooth and clean. Love that blue color. Mind you I hate blue but it's grown on my lately. Great videos man thanks for sharing.
Thanks! Just subbed you, looking forward to checking out some of the videos tonight!

I had no idea hot wheels restoration was a thing until this past week. Now I can't get enough. I really enjoy your videos, the fact your giving them to your son, and this isn't your career makes me enjoy these even more!! Keep doing what you're doing!

Spectra flame looks great and WOW you do awesome work in an hour
I don't even do hot wheels but have been enjoying your videos.
This is weirdly calming, keep up the cool work, I love it
You spend the time and let us look at what's possible. Good on you man Bravo.
Thank you Bman!
One of the things I like about your videos as opposed to some of your peers is you do a better job with lighting and focus.
Thank you! I'm still working on the focus a bit but think I do pretty decent on the lighting.
Thank you, I really appreciate it!
Very nice looking restoration. Congratulations for such great work.
I love these videos... You have given me a hobby I can start for my son... Thank you

I have that model! It’s white and needs a lot of TLC. Nice to see your approach. Thanks!
Great video. I think that your giving it to a four year old is great. Every time my grandkids come over I give them a car as I have about a 1000 hot wheels
I gotta say these vids peak both interest & nostalgia. Keep up the awesome work😃👏🏻
These videos are satisfying to watch the beginning and end result
It's awesome to see an expert like using paint markers. That's how I started doing my details.
Yeah much better than using a brush!
Great job! I am just starting to try to restore some old redlines. Keep the videos coming.
Thank you!
Looks great! It needs two white racing stripes on the hood and roof and two black numbers in white circles on the doors. Love to see the before and after images!
I like your vids i was interested in restoring old hotwheels period and lost interest and now your vids are getting me into it again
stunning work mate, i am not really in to model cars but your videos are surprisingly entertaining! and I cannot immagine how happy the kid who you`ll give these will be! good job!
Nice car bro, it's weirdly calmly watching people restore things, I would like to see you restore a custom barracuda again. Great job!
Good job, Man! You don't need to explain anything. It's amazing, that You manage to find time for these restorations. I enjoyed the video and I don't even collect :)
By far one of the coolest hobbies I've seen. You just made my day a little bit brighter :)
I enjoy the same restoration style, limited time, better than it was..... once in a while a masterful job happens!
The Mark IV is one of my favorite cars from the past
All of these videos are satisfying to watch lol
My son and I just did our first restoration on a GT 500 the car isn’t the point spending time together is thanks for the inspiration regards
Awesome!
Awesome job on this custom restoration.

Thanks! Yeah, I usually polish to almost a chrome finish but just trying some new things :)

I recoment center drilling befor drilling and use a pillar drill to keep squarer and for tapping , you split post as you tapped and put screw in .
Nice restoration!
Exquisit restoration;congratulation!
Great work man
She came out really nice great, job as always! I really enjoy your content! Awesome stuff! Happy Holidays!!...👍✌☝
Thank you, Happy Holidays to you!

Nice job man... Dont listen to haters.

I wouldn't give it to a 4 year old, the restore is too good!
Ignore the nit picker's ... I like these videos of yours.

Thank you! Those are the only ones that just pop on the bearing style axles. I wish they were cheap!
