The Frio river starts further upstream from concan near the town of Leakey, named for John Leakey who first claimed a deed at the springs that combine with rain runoff. Leakey springs are on private property and some of the land was at one time owned by Frank Sharp, founder of Sharpstown in sw Houston and principal player in the Sharpstown bank scandal. Interesting video and intriguing cinematography thank you fir sharing
I worked at LLYC as a camp counselor for 6 years in high school and college. Beautiful place! Anytime I see blue hole - I am instantly flooded with many fond memories. Thanks for sharing.
Dude, that place is awesome! But the important thing that id like to point out is how talented you are dude. Everything looks so good! We have to plan that documentary and make it happen next year!
For those wondering, This is Blue Hole at HEB Foundation Camp on Hwy 83 North of Leakey. (Yes, the grocery store HEB) I was privileged to attend this camp as a volunteer for almost 15 years and it is an amazing place. Great memories snorkeling and free diving there getting kids dropped sunglasses off of the bottom.
@@darrellrees4371 The amount of changes at this place in just the last 10 years has been insane, much less 50! The huge family camp below Echo Bluff was a bunch of tin roof cabins known as “Commanche Outpost” back in your day. They were just feet from Blue Hole. “Linnett’s Wings” is the next set of cabins downriver from there. You should stop by if you are ever in the area, this place is still as special as ever. Be well
@@colebierplease8448 I was last there in the late sixties. I recall that it was an exceptional place even for Central Texas, which, in general, has outstanding natural beauty. Thanks again for awakening long dormant memories.
keep them coming! i am a lover of all things nature and have really been into kayking these rivers in texas. I was a former commercial diver and love some scuba adventures! Keep the vids coming.
@@Matt-rt9ws hands down best river in texas to kayak. Need a permit and it's 3 to 5 days of camping before you make it to a spot where you can take out.
That’s an awesome location and great photography. I also noticed your dive buddy is a certified commercial diver. Or at least he probably is seeing as I have the same dry suit from CDA Tech.
drone footage was awesome and smooth transitions. Not to mention beautfiul location. Inspiring, I gotta get better with my gear and photography skills when I'm in the rrivers. Keep em coming :)
Can I ask you where exactly this is. I would love to dive the river with my dad. Is this accessible by asking permission or is there a spot close by that would be as good ? Does the water clarity drop quickly as you leave the start?
I like how the bass drop starts when the mask goes on. So dope thank you for sharing. Does the water generally seem highest in winter('round central Texas)?
I passed by nueces last week after rain on the way to devils and it was already clear even after the massive rain they had mid week prior around Uvalde, I bet frio is still clear, going to try to jump in at chalk bluffs this week end....I thought most everything in Texas was muddy, before I started seeing your vids. Thanks again.
NoMore MrNiceGuy haha thanks! Yeah I am working through some things like that...I’m trying to get a good balance of both without it being distracting....thanks for the feedback though!

Thanks for the info. I thought this place looked familiar. I went to summer camp there over 50 years ago.

Wow this is beautiful! We love the Frio and enjoy visiting Garner State Park. How did you go about getting permission to dive? Great video!

Colton Hawkins haha thanks! And yeah he dives for a living I was pretty jealous of that dry suit because that water was pretty cold lol

Breath taking!!!!
Terry Bahnsen thank you!!!
Hey Scott, love this video. Is there any way to go about contacting an owner to put together a dive here? TIA
What was water temp? Depth? Awesome dive and great video!
Jeremiah Perez thanks man! it was cold!!!! Upper 50s/low 60s
Love the Frio
One of my favorites!
The photography was beautiful!
Thank you!!!
Coordinates?
How's the current there? I'd love to go diving there and it's not too far from me, relatively speaking of course. Texas is huge lol,
There is not much of a current here at all, you do need to contact the owners though
Another satisfying vid!
Thank you so much!

This is on private property, and diving is typically not allowed here due to its use as a summer camp

From my understanding it seems more clear in the winter….with this as drought im not sure what it is like right now : /

Is there a way I can hook up with you
Or what exactly is it. How do you get permission
Love the video, any contact info or address for the dive?
Thank you! Not sure that this dive is open to the public without being a guest at the ranch : )
