There used to be an old panel van we dived back in 1973-74. I have a pic of me and my buddy Gary surfacing with the rusty remains of the driver’s seat.
My family's snorkeling gear sunk down there by the dam around 2015. I also lost a beautiful handmade marble on the beach in the same area. It was a clear marble with a small art design inside. When held under the water it was invisible.
This is badass I always wanted to see what the bottom of this lake looked like I was swimming at that same spot you came up at and saw the catfish under that cave swimming by there last time !
Back in the 50s when that dam was built They had to flood a portion of the region that had trees and vegetation. All those trees down there make sense.
Have you ever come upon a lure/bait hanging in the water? I'd want to pull it or maybe grab the hook with a pliers & make the fisher think they caught a BIG one! I'd play with them, maybe pop up out of the water yelling "STOP, OW, OW!" Hook an anchor or something to it. I'm weird. Used to have a lakeside home at beautiful Canyon Lake. Your awesome video has pushed me to "take the dive" (ha, ha) & learn SCUBA. Thanks!
@@woodyw6891 Yes there were when I was diving in the mid 70’s but I only dove on one. We were more interested in the cracks and cave like opening to see how big the catfish were. I don’t think there’s one lake in the state of Texas that didn’t flood over farms, ranches, cemeteries (those are spooky) and other structures. The only lake that is a natural forming lake that I’m aware of is Lake Caddo on the border with Louisiana and I know of no such structures as it’s pretty shallow.
@@truckdirty 🤦🏻 it was the old town of Sattler, and the residents knew it would eventually be flooded. The government paid them to move to higher ground but removal of the structures would’ve been too expensive…and pointless. They’re making for excellent shelter for fish and other wildlife that all contribute to the flourishing ecosystem inside the lake.
@@Mitchguajardo I’ll give it a shot next time we’re out. The Lake level changes so 50 yds will be a guess. It also may be tough if it’s directly out from the ramp as prop wash may have pushed them or covered them with silt. You will be the first to know if I find them!
God I hate seeing those trees. As the water level gets low in the lake, anywhere you jump off a boat can see you skewered on a tree. I don't dive in the lakes around here, only in desert lakes like Lake Havasu where there's no trees only bushes!!
Rivercast Map has it at 908.81 feet at the base of the dam right now. It fluctuates of course. Not sure how deep it gets before that point, But, I imagine it gets shallower the closer you get to where its more of the Guadalupe River.
God loves you so, very much that He sent His Holy Son Jesus from heaven to earth, to be born of a virgin, to grow up and die on a cross for our sins, and to be put into a tomb 3 days and rise from the dead the third day, and He (Jesus) went back up to heaven. We must receive Sinless Jesus sincerely to be God's child(John 1:12).After we get saved by grace through faith in Christ, if we truly love the Lord Jesus Christ, then we will obey Jesus(John 14:15). There's a cool Texas Parks map of alligator distribution in Texas. Doesn't look like Canyon Lake is in the mix. But a lot of the other places they roam is surprising! Nice day in Texas...holy crap, a gator!

90’ straight down and then tapers out to around 130ish here.

I started diving Canyon Lake in 1976. Looks like it hadn’t changed much since then except how they’re draining it. Sorry to see it go.
Are there really towns, ranch homes, and barns down there?

Don't worry, soon the lake will be almost dry and we can all just walk down there!
I think those were my sunglasses.
Now this was a dope video that's what I'm talking about ‼💯💯💯
Omg!! Those are my boyfriend’s sunglasses!
Crazy that a lot of it is now above water due to the drought we had.
I swim there three times a month I live in Seguin Texas bro
Please come to Waco and retrieve my prescription sunglasses. All them trees shows if you throw anchor in the wrong spot you aint gettin it back!
Lol. You know that anchor ruined someone's day. I'd hate to drop anchor in that lake after seeing this.
A friend of my dad lost his glasses by boat ramp one. It’s not exactly by the ramp but more by the cove to the right
There’s actually a town down there but when they where building the dam it got flooded.
Probably a town full of non-european people too. Wouldn't be the first time.....

Anchor ornaments, float bags for retrievable

I never knew there were alligators in Canyon Lake, I've lived there for 29 years (where I was raised) and I've never once seen an alligator here.
Where are the alligators
I didn't see any alligators in this video
There are gators in North Texas lakes too...
And giant man-eating catfish!

it is death lake...
Why is it death lake?
At least this lake is nice and clear. Our lake here in Waco is murky as anything
