Your performance was so very enjoyable and wonderful! What a great way to wake up and have morning coffee while you play the cello seemingly effortlessly in the background. But I especially liked that you made eye contact with people in the audience (drawing us in) and then at other times you were lost in the rapture of the cello! Looking forward to seeing/listening to more of your posts. Thank you so much for such a wonderful way to start today. Blessings on you, dearly gifted one!
I'm very happy that youtube suggest me your video because now this is my favorite version of the prelude ❤ Especially because the sound of the finger on the fingerboard is imperceptible and for this, makes for me better than Yo-Yo Ma version I know, i'm a strange man 😂 Greetings from Italy
I love this piece and I listen to it so often, I'm beginning to think that I can identify who the cellist is by the way they interpret it. (of course, only among the cellists, that I listen to.) I just want to say that you play this beautifully! I am moved; and then there's your dog.... how peaceful and contented Willow seems. Blessings to you.......
What a sweet comment! Especially from someone who listens to a lot of Bach. Willow has been listening to me for all of her 11 years of life❣️ my little side kick

@@whitewillowstrings oh so sorry, I don't know why I didn't see this message, I must have had too many notifications at the time, I see it now that you sent a new comment, that's so true about learning the cello, it really is a wonderful instrument, I have recorded the odd video here and there of my progress, but I am way to embarrassed to upload anything yet, my intonation still needs so much work ☺
"Maestro, Maestro! The coach from Vienna has arrived! Herr Scholmburger is here, at last! " The young towheaded boy ran up the creaky wooden stair case to tell his teacher of the ostentatious arrival of the Mayor of Schweppstenstien. Not that the Mayor was anyone important, but in this sleepy little burg, any visitor was a big deal. "Apen, gut... now, come here and eat your soup, boy. We will go and meet Herr Mayor once we have supped. " The teacher wiped chalk off of his hands, and sat down at the tall wooden table to eat with his nephew. "I have missed mien friend. . We have a lot to discuss....but now, we eat." A bird sang lightly in the cool autumn mid morning breeze, as the oak tree turned from emerald, to gold.
My humble opinion I hear a need to give equal weight to each note when alternating strings also play with a metronome at all times in practice. Play as slow as necessary for precision of intonation and volume. Keep going with your Cello! You have lots of potential. 😊
I disagree. Music should not feel like it's with a metronome. There has to be some elasticity of the tempo with phrasing. Some of the notes may sound artificially lengthened -- and then it's more of a phrasing understanding, not a need for a metronome.
@@whitewillowstrings I tried to find which bar it is on the score but couldn't - my scores are not with me at present. It sounds like the five notes going down are just a bit unusual. But not "wrong", it adds a little originality to this piece. I was wondering if it was on a score or just an inspiration.

@@whitewillowstrings Thanks for your answer. No, I'm not a cellist, unfortunately. I did a bit of music though, as a kid, first in a "fanfare" (a sort of brass band) where I played trumpet, then guitar as a teenager in a band, and bass as well. And I learned piano in my early forties for a while - just to play the partitas. I'm a fan of Bach whom I place above everybody else, though I like also a few other composers like Vivaldi, Telemann, Beethoven, Liszt, Saint-Saëns. And I also like jazz music and a few other genres. Have you ever heard Jacques Louissier?
