@The Techne I’m curious, with your set, volume around 70 to 60 percent, anc and transparency set to off, do u notice high frequency feedback in the right ear cup? It has to be connected but no sound coming out, like home screen on Xbox where it’s connected but it’s dead quiet. I notice in that situation I’m getting this feedback on the right cup. I returned my unit(Xbox version) they only had ps version in stock so I just grabbed it, and it does the same thing (granted not as bad). Check it out because if I got 2 bad units in a row I’m not sure how I’d feel about trying a third time or maybe it’s just something they do?
Is this the successor to the Arctis Pro Wireless? Based on design is doesn’t look as comfortable. My Arctis Pro died a few weeks ago and wanted a new one but I dunno about this.
@@xreznr163pretty much the same. You get what you pay for. I’m a pro gamer and have experience with about 100 different headsets and play on Xbox. Astros a50 and these are one of my top picks. These are insane for footsteps and such. Personally rock these anytime I play and compete
I ended up getting them for their mobile/xbox/pc usage and they're amazing in all 3. The chat mixer with my xbox buds, the quick swap to pc since I'm super ADHD, and noise cancelation for my neighbors house constantly under construction, etc. This bad boy is my match made in heaven.
Took a dive and got it myself, hands down the best headset I’ve ever used. Even plugging in wired the sound goes to another level. Exceptional product. Dive into GG software and you can tune the mic and sound to a whole other level.
it absolutely gets a stinkin cozy from me. i never feel the mic touching my ear and it's SOOOOO light coming from the arctis pro wireless, it's amazing.
Great series of videos so far! The anc is pretty lackluster, but the passive noise canceling is incredible compared to other gaming headsets imo. The price is a huge gut punch for those hoping for a life changing experience though. The convenience really is the shining point of this headset and for some that’s all the reason to buy it… and the headset does indeed sound great as well.
I’ve used many headsets and have been a long term user of the previous Arctis Pro Wireless and I love that headset. I’ve also trained my ears well over the few years to hear sounds on each frequency. I’ve been so looking forward to this new Nova Pro Wireless, but I wanted to make sure it’s worth it before I buy one. Luckily my friend bought one, so I used his for a whole day, mainly playing Warzone and here’s my verdict compared to the old Pro Wireless and these are based on my hearing. -Old Pro Wireless is quite a bit louder, so if you like your stuff really loud, old one is better. Plus louder the headset gets, louder you hear each frequency. -With old Pro Wireless playing Warzone I can comfortably hear footsteps from around 32-34 metres away and gets louder of course closer the enemy gets, but it was around the same with the new Nova, but maybe couple of metres closer to start with from around 30-32 metres. Not a big deal, but the next point will make it a big deal. -Because the Pro Wireless get really loud, it lets you hear those specific frequencies louder and better. -Nova Pro Wireless might not be as loud as the Pro Wireless, but because it now has a 10 band EQ compared to the 5 band on the Pro Wireless, if you spend some time you can really extract detailed sound from each frequency and overall the sound quality/clarity is better on the Nova. However, to my hearing it’s not a night and day difference. It took me a while to make a really good custom EQ for Warzone and when compared to the old Pro Wireless, apart from overall sound quality, it made no difference at all. -The Techne is correct about the ANC mics on the drivers touching ears, but it really didn’t bother me as the Nova is overall really comfortable and I think more comfortable than the Pro Wireless. -Transparency mode simply makes the headset sound and feel like you’re using an open back headset and to my ears that ruined the detailed directional audio or imaging. -Mic quality is pretty good and better than the old Pro Wireless, but unless you’re actually using the mic for recording, I don’t really care as long as it sounds good enough to communicate. My final verdict is, if you care about all the ANC, transparency mode and/or specifically play on PC, then the Nova is worth it. On PC you can really take advantage of the Sonor software. But if you’re a console player and don’t really care about the ANC and transparency mode, then if you don’t already have the old Pro Wireless, I would say go get one of those as the prices will drop soon and you’ll be more than happy, because it’s still if not the best, one of the best. You can find lots of used like new ones on EBay and Amazon. I really think £330 is quite a big asking price for a headset that’s not much different to the old one. I think most of the changes were made on design of the headset and added ANC and transparency mode and that’s it. The most important part of a headset should be sound and if that’s not that much of an improvement over the old one, then that’s a big asking price.
Thanks for this info. I got 2 pair of Arctis Pro wireless and I'll m waiting for Audeze to make the Penrose mkII with better 2.4ghz connectivity and a good Virtual surround. If Audeze does not deliver I might get the Nova pro wired version as the wireless nova looks to me to be a downgrade.
@@Justmeandmy20cents Audeze Penrose I think really stands out when it comes to audio, because they use the planar magnetic drivers and all the rest use traditional dynamic drivers. But I’ve also tried the Penrose. Above I mentioned about footstep distance. With the Penrose I still heard footsteps from around 32-34 metres away but it was quite pronounced compared to Pro Wireless, but that’s where the good points stop with the Penrose in my opinion. I said above priority is sound, but at least a headset should have decent comfort and battery and Penrose doesn’t. I believe the main problem is, headset companies are limited to how much they can do with current dynamic driver technology, so until a new technology is developed, all new headsets can only advance so much. That includes Audeze as well with the planar magnetic drivers. There’s only so much they can advance with those drivers until a new generation of planar magnetic drivers are developed. So for this very reason, I think SteelSeries took a step back with the Nova. I’ve never been a fan of leatherette ear pads, but I recently purchased the official SteelSeries leather pads for my Pro Wireless and I realised all these years I was missing on improving the sound. It made a big difference and made my own custom EQ sound even better and louder.
I have not used the arctis pro but I do have the audeze penrose. I think sound quality is about even with the eq dialed in. The penrose gets louder, but not by a ton. So when you say the arctis pro gets louder, I have a feeling you need to plug them in side by side and test again or check settings.. Anyway, I also find the positional audio on the nova fantastic compared to the penrose. To me, the penrose sucks at locating directional queues. Idk, great music headset though.
@@C7_Eliud I am at work, so I don't have exacts, but just use a v shape and adjust to your preference from there. The game presets in the sonar software are all pretty spot on too Edit: just realized that probably wasn't a reply to me, but maybe it will help someone out.
No metal hinges = No buy from me. Great review. I didn't take this as negative, in fact - SteelSeries if you ever read this, this is as positive a review as I could view. He asked if we actually "need" active noice cancelling. I do. Transparency, mode. I do. Bluetooth, swappable batteries - I NEED that, although he questioned it, I do. What I don't need is plastic hinges especially when hinges were a MAJOR issue with your last headsets. Happy to join the army whenever you all resolve that!!
Yeah I went with the wired as well, If you're always sitting in the same spot when gaming, Then you really don't need the wireless. I have my consoles and PC in the same location, So wireless is kind of pointless for me anyway since I'm always a few feet away from devices.
@@earlraglin4597 After trying both the wired and wireless, I prefer the Wired ones. It has better sound quality and doesn't have the annoying ANC nub on the inside.
I actually came into this review specifically hoping you'd touch on the sound quality of the wireless version when it is wired to the station, compared to the wireless-only version. Was bummed when you decided that wasn't a relevant feature to test. I personally would love to have a headset that has all the fidelity of a wired headset when I don't mind being tethered, but with the freedom of a wireless headset when I want to be able to move around more. If you give it a test at some point, I'd be curious to know how they compare. The questions I'm wondering about below: 1. How noticeable is the difference when wireless version is wired to the base station. (Compared to wireless version operating over 2.4GHz) 2. Does it sound the same as the wired version sounds when connected directly to PC (not the DAC). 3. How does the wireless version (when wired) compare to the wired version connected directly to the DAC. Is it a noticeable/noteworthy different in quality/clarity due to the DAC? 4. (Big bonus points) Make a Frankenstein monster and connect the wireless headset, via wire, to the DAC. Is the resulting sound of the same quality as the wired version (when connected to DAC)? In theory, they're the same drivers, so you'd think it would be.
the only headset i've seen advertise for this is the corsair virtuoso. I'm actually switching from the virtuoso to these when my shipment arrives on monday and hoping to see the difference. I have no issues with the virtuoso besides the weight and the pads for the drivers, otherwise the difference between the wired/wireless is noticeable and acts exactly as you said you'd want
I'm one of the only 3 people left playing Halo Infinite on console. My astro a50s got to a point where they wouldnt hold a charge for more than an hour. I ordered new astros and the 5ghz band on my router kept interfering and crashing the connection on the new a50s. After astro decided not to help, I sent them back and settled with some Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max. After a week of use, the bluetooth would not stay connected. I thought what the heck, I might as well shill out $350 bucks to try these new SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pros. Holy shizzzz!!! The size, weight, comfort, connectivity, and SOUND QUALITY is on a completely different level than Astros and Turtle Beach. Back in 2019, I had the SteelSeries Arctis Pros for about a week before trading them in for Astros because I wasn't impressed. I don't know what SteelSeries did, but these are on a completely different level. I've heard the Audeze and Bangs have the best sound, but after using these for the last few weeks, I don't even care to try anything else.
After using these since August I can’t justify myself using another headset, the retractable microphone and the hot swappable batteries and sound quality is great. SteelSeries just does it right for me
You my friend are my go to guy for headsets, I got the Arctis 7x ready for the new consoles thanks to your review. This headset fell at the first hurdle for me, leather earcups are a no no. I much prefer steel series breathable earcups in their other models. Shame you can’t swap them out
So nice with an honest review. I’m actually getting second thoughts about getting it now. The hinges not being made of metal, is a big let down at this price point. Nice and informative video👍
There are several other honest reviews out there that love it more than Techne seems to have. It’s preference in the end for a lot of things and what exactly you need your headset to do. There’s lots of headsets without metal hinges that are still great, and I watched a very detailed review that said the hinges are improved. They’re my first SS headset, and the hinges are different from pics and vids of previous SS sets.
Ok, thanks guys! Still considering getting them. But durability is a big selling point for me, so maybe I’ll wait a bit to see have they fare in the long run. Gives me time to save up too :p
I'm not one to ever buy expensive/high end headsets but the thing that made me jump to order these was the universal compatibility. I've been looking for a headset that can wirelessly work across both PS5 and Xbox Series X....and finally, this headset does it!! Being able to use only one headset for both of my consoles was enough for me on its own, but also being able to use them as regular headphones over Bluetooth, listen to both console audio and Bluetooth audio at the same time, active noise cancelation and transparency mode...ahhh an hot swappable batteries that charge directly on the dac!!!!! This headset is shaping up to be the best headset around, period!
@@paulbufano6061 you have to buy the Xbox version of the headset. If you buy the pc or ps5 version, those do not work work with xbox. If you buy the Xbox version, the back inputs of the dac/base station have two usb ports, once is labeled xbox, this one is for the Xbox of course, and the other input is just ‘USB’ and you plug that into your ps5 or ps4. That is all you need to do.
I think many people (including me) would want an Arctis Nova Wireless vs the old Arctis Pro Wireless comparison. I want to know if an upgrade is worth it.
For me it's not looking good for the nova. Nice name, nice base station compared to the first. That's it. I don't like the design, noo personality whatsoever at least the pro wireless could come in 2 colours and you could change the plates while still looking good in almost any setting, they don't look like tacky gaming headphones. Anyway about the nova, don't like the leather cups, must I talk about the mic, and couple nit picky things.
@@detweiler I’m getting one in under 10 days my arctis pro wireless got a crack and I had a warranty thankfully and they let me get the nova pro wireless for free since the arctis pro wireless wouldn’t be in stock till 2023 so I’m really excited
After my experience with the Arctis Pro Wireless and its issues with disconnection for the price, I ended up getting the Logitech G Pro Wirless and so far... I am glad I did, thanks for the review! I almost wanted this but I can't pay $350 and it have the same issues as the other Arctis, as far as a warranty went, they did little help last time they kept telling me it was my issue, oddly swapping headsets fixed the issue.. oh well.
Best buy gave me 100$ off so i paid $250 for it. At that point i had to buy it. Personally the only downfall is my right hear touches the ANC every now and then but it truly blocks everything out. Kinda wild to turn it on then off. Was having an issue where the mic would pick up background noise but then i dabbled with the EQ settings on the base and it fixed it. I actually truly love the base too. So easy to adjust stuff without having to mess with the head set. Mute button isnt bad either. Personally i was worried with it not being a flip to mute but in all honesty the button is just fine! Hope this helps people.
thank you thank you THANK YOU for answering my only real question about any headset: "is there an indicator light when the mic is muted?" you're a champion and SteelSeries should thank you for my purchase
as soon as i saw these headphones come out i was waiting for your review. I saw a few other reviews of these headphones but your review is the one i was waiting for
I have the headset and used it a couple of weeks now, and my honest opinion, it’s not worth the money, at least not here in Denmark where prices are crazy, the sound is bleeding together, and it’s hard to hear everything when a lot is going on, for example in overwatch or warzone, and some of the sounds are very high pitched- I have tried to use different settings, and played a lot with the EQ but it’s not helping a lot - I think the sound is okay, but not for that price ! The price in Denmark is about 450USD (2995kr)!
I personally think I'm going to go for the Stealth 700 Gen 2 MAX. The 40 hour battery is for sure going to last my longest sessions. I don't want to have to swap batteries unless they make the way swapping it a cartridge slot design on the headset like is on the charging station and it needs to be 30 hours of batter life. For me $350 is asking too much for not having it like that.
@@Le_Mocha yeah and batteries slowly start to loose charge. On my previous headset i was swapping then at least twice per gaming sessions. I don't care if it's a few seconds it got annoying. When we are paying $350 it's obviously about luxury at that point.
Do you have issues with the mic sensitivity on the TB 700 max? I’ve heard that’s an issue. Where any noise around you thr mics picks up and everyone hears it
@@lambeaulegend9499 oh yeah they are. You gotta download the software and get in the EQ. I have them dialed in so good that I can hear exactly where people are in Battlefield. Exactly where they are. The directional audio is spot on. Also, when they need a charge while playing, you just swap out the battery and you don't lose your EQ settings. Ear cups should be cloth but that's not a huge problem. You can get lost in your game.
Ok I just got my new nova pro wireless and my God 🤪 the sonar sound quality specially on apex legends is amazing everything the mic sound quality everything is superb on this headsets and they're are super confi on your ears 👍👍 guys don't think twice and get this nova pro wireless and this coming from a guy that owns 4 headsets the logitech g933 g935
Thanks for the video. I have the arctis 9 pro and love them. I purchased the Nova Pros and returned them in a day. Just didn't like the feel of the new headband. Also that ANC nub is a problem, it is very annoying. I even paired them with the Wicked Cushions I have and yep still annoying, so they went back. I love the Arctis 9 Pro. The adjustable headband is fantastic. The Nova Pro felt like a downgrade sadly.
Hey Techne, if you were to compare this headset against the Arctis Pro Wireless would you say there's a big difference with those 2 headsets? Should I get this over the Arctis Pro Wireless? Is there a big difference between this headset and the Arctis Pro Wireless? And does this sound better then the Audeze Penrose?
What would be good is to compare the deluxe, full featured wireless models. Corsair Virtuoso XT, Turtle Beach 700 g2 MAX, Steel Series Nova Pro. Is there anything else that does Xbox, PS, PC, bluetooth (and 3.5mm)? These are beasts of wireless headsets, with full platform compatibility. They are expensive as hell and pack a punch. Techne, I encourage you to line them up (and any other headset that can match the features) and see which actually is the quality and feature king. In this range you really aren't too worried about price. It's sound quality, mic quality, comfort and any super unique features (extra ear pads, swap able batteries) above working with everything.
I got the Corsair virtuoso XT about the same price point but quality of headset is better. I use it with steel series sonar to adjust sound to get the most out of them. They come with a flat sound but once you know what your working with you can tweak settings in sonar where you can configure to whatever game you play which is really easy. Footsteps are valuable to me.
@The Techne, I know this is a wireless headset but I want to know if the audio is significantly (noticeably) better when wired. If I buy this headset, I will use it wireless in my family room for my Xbox Series X and PS5 and would look to buy a wired GameDAC (when the updated version is available separately for purchase) for my PC in another room for the improved audio experience.
I actually think this headset is perfect for my needs with the exception of fitment. I wish I could just try them on to see if the ANC mic in the driver would bother me. I have the Sony XM4s and whatever ANC mic they are using bothers me so much that I never wear them. I wish that little nub was removable or something because I don’t need the ANC. This makes me appreciate the AirPods Max so much more because they were able to pull off ANC without having a mic sticking in your ear
I'm deciding if I should buy these or the sony XM4s. I mainly want to listen to some music/podcasts, but I would like to do some gaming for it as well. For the Sonys I need to buy a boom mic as well, so what would you recommend, the Nova pro wireless or the sonys?
Great review as always. I was just wondering what your opinion is on these vs the Virtuoso XTs? My current headset is the XT, but I'm considering the Nova Pro Wireless. I had the Penrose once. Hands down, unmatched sound. But I had problems with a static noise in the left ear and it's lack of good dual connectivity. The Penrose felt like i was cheating in games like COD, but where does the Nova Pro Wireless rank?
Probably below the Audeze. I’ve had it but returned them to get the Virtuosos which have been my daily set for the last 6 months or so. Just picked up the Nova Pros and I’m very happy with them. I feel like the soundstage is bigger in the Novas but it’s not a day and night difference. The XTs get louder in my opinion when wired. The Audeze’s drivers are unmatched but the little nuances that are an annoyance really made me not want to spend the $300 of them. That’s the reason I felt the XTs were better value. Don’t think these are worth $350 tbh though
Yeah so far the only issue I’ve had is the bump thing, it’s SUPER uncomfortable and hurts a little. All it takes is a few adjustments to go away though.
Great review of the headset! I currently have the B&O Xbox Portals and after hearing this review. I’ll just stick to my portals even though not having game audio and Bluetooth at the same time is a bummer but its not worth me paying 350 just for that
So I just got these and have issues with buzzing static sound from the right ear cup when using Bluetooth, found some others on Reddit with this issue, contemplating returning
I've used the nova for about 2 days. This is kind of a review comment. I think audio sounds great at flat but that's just me. I'm not really an audio know it all. However, I've never felt the ANC mics touching my ears once. A problem that I did have with the mic was that my friend would hear a static noise coming from my mic even when I wasn't talking. I went into sonar and tried to hear it for myself, which I did. On sonar, you just have to turn on the noise canceling for the mic and your good. But if you want to do it on the DAC, you have to turn the mic volume to 5 and the static noise should be gone. That's what worked for me. Surprisingly, my ears didn''t get hot with these leather earcups. I pretty much agree with everything else that he said in the video. If u guys have anyone questions feel free to comment and I might be able to answer them.
I have a bunch of questions if that's alright since it's a pretty pricey headset especially in canadian dollars. Do you know how comfortable it is to wear with glasses for long periods of time? (if you don't know how it is with glasses then just comment on the comfort in general) Is the new inner headband more comfortable/better than the old fabric one? Do your ears heat up especially after long periods of usage? Is the bass good? (i like A LOT of bass)
@@iiTzKeen I don't wear glasses but I love the comfort of them. They don't feel heavy at all. I had the turtle beach 700 gen 2 max which was heavier and looked big on my head but swapped them in for novas and it was definitely worth it. The headband to me feels great. Your ears will ofc get a little sweaty but I didn't get irritated or annoyed after a long gaming session. Bass is good as well plus you can adjust the bass to how you like with the DAC or sonar.
@@FernsHobbies thank you for taking the time to help me out (sorry about the mountain of questions lol), definitely gonna go for it even though it's $450 plus shipping and taxes for me
Since I already own the Arctis Pro Wireless and it works perfectly don't think there is any reason to purchase, but if for any reason it stops working this would be at top of my list. Like that it has replacement Battery and Audio quality is excellent..
hi techne, i'm considering to buy either steelseries arctis nova pro wireless or senheiser epos h6 pro open. Which one of this worth the value and overall champion? Thank you in advance
Ok i decided to go for h6 pro and it was amazing.Compared to my arctis 7 2019 it is beyond comfortable, mic clearer & sounds superp out of the box no need sonar to tweek. 🎉
I'd disagree with "just recommending" getting this model (the Xbox version) as if you are not an Xbox user nor plan to ever use this with Xbox, you are getting a crippled device. The second USB-C port on the Xbox compatible version acts like an Xbox controller and cannot be used with another PC. This is not very well documented and I just went through the headache of returning my Xbox version and waiting for the "regular" version to come back into stock and ship. There were far too many Reviews telling everyone to "just get the Xbox version" and your covered for everything, I unfortunately fell for that as well (unless of course you want this to work with Xbox and don't plan to use 2 x PCs/Macs via USB-C). Really wish they would add an option to their firmware to configure the Xbox USB-C port to either normal mode or Xbox. For this price range it should be included. Otherwise great detailed review! Thumbs up!
If you plan on getting this and you’re a console gamer DONT expect to get the benefits of Sonar on console. $400 to not be able to get full use sounds like a waste if all you’ll get is stock sound. However you can adjust the eq from the base but you’re not getting Sonar and the base station eq alone is meh.
I think this is what we can call an "honest review". Thanks Techne, highly appreciated and you answered pretty much all my questions. Somehow the Nova Pro Wireless feels underwhelming, good but not outstanding. I shall stick to my Audeze Penrose, but I'll wait for your video comparing both though :D
I keep seeing references to the Penrose while looking at reviews, is it really that good? I am in the market for a closed back headset, as my Fidelio X2's do not work in my current environment (too loud) and having an attached microphone is a benefit.
@@Mekkor, Techne recently posted a new review about the Penrose, it's worth taking a look. I'm happy with mine, but when I got it I was expecting something like night and day when compared with cheaper versions. Sound is really a tricky subject, watch the videos that Techne posted on his channel to make up your mind...there are quite a few and they are helpful.
@@Mekkor depends on what’s important to you in a headset, if you like fancy features and stuff then the penrose isn’t for you, if you want the best sound possible then the penrose is the best hands down. However I’ve had them for a bit over a year and they did break on the arm holding the ear cup to the band, I personally fixed mine but audeze did say they would replace it which was cool. The features suck on the penrose but the audio is the best in any gaming headset
My Penose just broke above the ear cup. This is a common issue with this headset. The plastic is lower quality and has a tendency to crack in that area. The sound is great, but there is certainly some durability issues. I dont know what features its lacking that anyone really needs in a headset, but this does everything I need.
EXCELLENT VID. SUBSCRIBED. QUESTION: if you're using these for xbox series x alone. There is no extra downloadable software available. Just plug into xbox and only use the transmitter box settings? And it won't have surround sound? Thanks
Simulated surround sound on xbox are Atmos for headphones (atmos app with one payement life licence), DTS-X (also app with one pay life licence) or Windows Sonic (integrated in xbox system for free).
Certainly an interesting point on the frequency range. Steelseries do actually list on their official page, the Nova pro as 40mm drivers with 10-22khz in Wireless, while the old Arctis Pro Wireless is 10-40khz in Wireless
Is there anyone who used both Astro A50 wireless and this new Arctis Nova model? What would you guys recommend? I'm currently using A40 TR's wired for the past 3+y and kinda feel it's time to ditch these even tho they are still perfectly in takt.
Hmm I just bought myself a Arctis 7+ after my Arctis 7 failed after 4 years of use (the right earcup hinge broke). The Arctis Nova Pro Wireless look very nice and I almost regret buying the Arctis 7+ now.. However they are 3x the price in my country so perhaps it's not really worth it for me since I am very satisfied with the Arctis 7 design! :) Great review as always Techne!
Thanks for the stinkin' awesome review! It sounds like I'll be happier with my TB Stealth 700 G2 Max as you definitely seemed more "wowed" with the immersion on those! My only complaint is that I wish they got a bit louder other than that I love them!
Do you use issues with the mic sensitivity with the 700 max’s? They seem like a great headset but everyone complains how sensitive the mic is where everyone in there chat party can hear every little thing
I am using these on PC and while using the Sonar noise cancellation for chat I found that it was causing my voice to cut in and out and also my friends voices would cut out. Now this was while playing Destiny 2 using the in game chat so it could just be the game. But something to keep in mind.
Didn't really talk about the audio quality enough. Also i direct comparison to the Arctis Pro or 7+ would have helped A LOT considering i recently tried both. Also the Audeze Penrose. Edit: maybe you can replace the earpads like you did with the Penrose?
@@supersop1367 it has specific issues that could be absolute deal breakers. For me the main issue is what people call a "noise floor" where a strange noise happens in one ear when theres low/no audio. The Bluetooth is a bit finicky but in the end its not that bad. I think Techne even says in his video that the Penrose has the best audio quality in a gaming headset you will find. 100% it does. The EQ isnt the greatest but it works. I paid $250 and i chose it over the arctis 7+ and arctis pro and JBL quantum 800 Edit: but its not perfect. Which is why I'm looking at the nova. The swapping battery is a game changer once you try it
Found a fix to stop that anc numb touching your ears for people that are having this problem , unclip the headband fabric strap, stretch it out a little , reattach. Doing this will reduce the clamping force of the headset so the pads float completely on your ears instead of squeezing down on them by using the tight strap a a pivot. in most cases this stop your ears touching numb.
I need to know, if you plug into the 3.5mm on the base station does it sound just as good as the wired version? The versatility would be worth it to me if so.
@@garethg8226 Because sometimes you might want to use them wireless? Or you want to still have the bluetooth multitasking audio? Tell me you're not serious right now. *facepalm*
Hey Techne, I really hope you can answer this. I can't find any info regarding the base station for the Nova Pro Wireless, and whether or not you can keep the base station powered to charge the second battery if you have say your PS5 turned off. how does the base station get it's power? Is there a DC option? i can't find any info on this topic anywhere. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
THANK GOD!! I hate my Steelseries Arctis 7's after every 30 minutes because my ears touch the drivers inside and it just HURTS. I just haven't found anything better to replace them. The only headset I tried on that hasn't hurt me is the Corsair HS70 or HS80. I just haven't decided to make the switch yet. If you're telling me these won't hurt me that bad then I might grab them.
Purchased the PlayStation version and they are dope. I think they fixed the ear cushion it seems more thick (don't feel the nub in the center) and also the latest update allows the unit to turn off when either the PC or PlayStation turns off so no burn in on the LCD as some are worried. Thanks for this review.
Hi Techne, great review as always! I’m looking to get this headset for myself, specifically the Xbox version since it works with all platforms. But I have a PS5 and a PC. Does the port labeled Xbox on the base station work with PC? Then I could use the regular port for my PS5. Hope you can answer my question. Love your review videos!
Great video as always. I have a PS5 so I was told sonar only works on PC. My Nova pros are too quiet compared to the 7x I have for series X. I have everything turned up volume all around gain high ect. Does the EQ settings save automatically because I don't see a save option or a volume limiter off option which would be nice. Any help is appreciated considering you are one of the few who gives detailed information.
I have the SteelSeries Arctis Pro wired and I'm looking forward to this! One question though, I heard that this supports Dolby Atmos? How exactly do you activate that feature? Also, how does it compare with the Corsair Virtuoso XT?
After owning the steel series pros before and the Astro A50 and the Bang & Olufsen Beoplay Portal PC/PS that were $500.00 I do not think that there are any headsets that are worth $300.00 or more because I do not care what anyone says they all sound the same so I will just stay with my White Black Shark V2 that were less than $200.00 and sound just fine.
Sounds like if you have the Wireless Pro, unless you want half baked ANC, there's little reason to upgrade. They really should've made Sonar settings savable onto the headset for console use. The leatherette sounds like it's a downgrade too as it's only there to get a tighter seal for ANC. The old cushions are actually more breathable and easier to replace and clean.
Can you use the Aux In to listen to PC sounds like discord, when you are playing PS5 over the USB connection? I am asking since I am getting one and that may change my stream set up so I can hear full 3D sound on my PS5 while I stream, while in discord in the cross play games. Bonus points if I can send it over the out to the PC for streaming, that would just be the best

Appreciate the energy and honesty Techne. Real is important
Love it! We need a comparaison with the Penrose :D
@@beej4392 basically yes it is. As far as comfort or anything else, I can't attest to that personally
I hate buying headsets, such a hard decision
Seriously dude, I'm struggling between these and the Audeze Maxwell. Both have pros and cons so damn difficult
It can be but just know you get what you pay for
@@xreznr163pretty much the same. You get what you pay for. I’m a pro gamer and have experience with about 100 different headsets and play on Xbox. Astros a50 and these are one of my top picks. These are insane for footsteps and such. Personally rock these anytime I play and compete

@Amadeus_ Decided to get the Maxwell's. I have no regrets so far. The only thing that it's kinda lacking is bass, but soundwise, it's crispy af
Did you experience the active noise concealing issue that The Techne did?
can you change the chat mix on xbox?
It will be recognized by the gg on pc?
The ADHD comment is extremely agreeable
Took a dive and got it myself, hands down the best headset I’ve ever used. Even plugging in wired the sound goes to another level. Exceptional product. Dive into GG software and you can tune the mic and sound to a whole other level.
Do you ever have issues with Bluetooth to your phone? And how is the ANC?
@@slugzz- Nope, no issues with Bluetooth on my phone. ANC is okay, its not anything crazy. It'll eliminate small things like my pc fan noise.
How do you connect the wireless as wired?
@@valdemark6985 for ps5 plug into the controller, for pc plug into the audio out jack on the transmitter
Is the general idea that wired always sounds better?
it absolutely gets a stinkin cozy from me. i never feel the mic touching my ear and it's SOOOOO light coming from the arctis pro wireless, it's amazing.
The ANC on my JBL 800s is much better. But for comfort and sound, the Nova Pro beats it hands down.
I have the wired version.
What’s your EQ for Warzone and what setting in Warzone for audio do you use
@@C7_Eliud I am at work, so I don't have exacts, but just use a v shape and adjust to your preference from there. The game presets in the sonar software are all pretty spot on too
Edit: just realized that probably wasn't a reply to me, but maybe it will help someone out.
Wish the mic was better also
The metal hinges were the problem in the old headphones though?
I got the wired version to replace the corsair h80, And I’m really enjoying them so far. I think the sonar software is fire.
Trying to decide if I should go wireless or wired 😤
The questions I'm wondering about below:
1. How noticeable is the difference when wireless version is wired to the base station. (Compared to wireless version operating over 2.4GHz)
It’s probably coming in the next video!
There is likely a discernible difference between wire and wireless. It sounds great wirelessly
the only headset i've seen advertise for this is the corsair virtuoso. I'm actually switching from the virtuoso to these when my shipment arrives on monday and hoping to see the difference. I have no issues with the virtuoso besides the weight and the pads for the drivers, otherwise the difference between the wired/wireless is noticeable and acts exactly as you said you'd want
He dont give a flying F.
I want to knoe as well
I'm one of the only 3 people left playing Halo Infinite on console.
Honestly that might be better. the older gen headsets would crack at the plastic earcup. the plastic hinge, I think, could prevent that
There are several other honest reviews out there that love it more than Techne seems to have. It’s preference in the end for a lot of things and what exactly you need your headset to do. There’s lots of headsets without metal hinges that are still great, and I watched a very detailed review that said the hinges are improved. They’re my first SS headset, and the hinges are different from pics and vids of previous SS sets.
I am on the fence between those and the penrose x/mobius

This headset is shaping up to be the best headset around, period!
how did you get it to work for both ps5 and xbox series x? cant seem to figure it out
@@paulbufano6061 you have to buy the Xbox version of the headset.
Ditto please try that💯
For me it's not looking good for the nova. Nice name, nice base station compared to the first. That's it. I don't like the design, noo personality whatsoever at least the pro wireless could come in 2 colours and you could change the plates while still looking good in almost any setting, they don't look like tacky gaming headphones. After my experience with the Arctis Pro Wireless and its issues with disconnection for the price, I ended up getting the Logitech G Pro Wirless and so far... I am glad I did, thanks for the review! I almost wanted this but I can't pay $350 and it have the same issues as the other Arctis, as far as a warranty went, they did little help last time they kept telling me it was my issue, oddly swapping headsets fixed the issue.. oh well.
what issues with disconnection? i have them and it never did that for me.
Compared to the audeze penrose which ones do you prefer?😊
I was just going to ask the same thing! I'm interested to hear as well!

I've watched maybe 10 reviews on this headset and you are the inly one who make a real review on it .. thanks 🙏
It takes roughly 15 seconds to swap batteries and they last a really long time. Plus you'll never have to plug em in. Interesting gripe
Where any noise around you thr mics picks up and everyone hears it
Dude holy F you need to get a life. You’re not even gonna switch these out in one session.

Dude I have been using the 800lx for the same amount of time and they are so good I’m scared to try anything else. So these are truly an upgrade?
Penrose sounds way better, arctic pro is better value
@@Flymike_5 I'm getting the XT for the better mic still keeping my pros thoa
Appreciate your honest reviews, you earned a sub from me.
Same! My worry as well. Shouldn't be happening with a $350 premium headset. I'm sure my ears will touch
I'm deciding if I should buy these or the sony XM4s. I mainly want to listen to some music/podcasts, but I would like to do some gaming for it as well. For the Sonys I need to buy a boom mic as well, so what would you recommend, the Nova pro wireless or the sonys?
I have a pair and the anc mic doesnt Bother me
I mean, returns are free.
Thanks for covering the pad replacement situation
been watching since you were at like 24k love to see how much you’ve blown up
Yeah so far the only issue I’ve had is the bump thing, it’s SUPER uncomfortable and hurts a little. All it takes is a few adjustments to go away though.

You can yes.
Great review of the headset! I currently have the B&O Xbox Portals and after hearing this review. I’ll just stick to my portals even though not having game audio and Bluetooth at the same time is a bummer but its not worth me paying 350 just for that
I have the arctis pro wireless, I never thought they were loud enough, nor was the bass impressive. However they are very clean sounding.
Mine come in on the 8th I can not wait!!! Great review. Subbed!
(if you don't know how it is with glasses then just comment on the comfort in general)
Is the new inner headband more comfortable/better than the old fabric one?

Great review again! My question is would wicked cushions be able to solve the noise cancellation nipple causing any ear contact?
Do they work with the wireless one?
I'd say yes as they are deeper pads but wicked coushins are still making pads for them. Twitter has a waiting list for the coushins when they release.

@@Mekkor check out Techne review on them. He raises some good concerns that you should be aware of but not dealbreakers potentially
Steelseries do actually list on their official page,
the Nova pro as 40mm drivers with 10-22khz in Wireless,
while the old Arctis Pro Wireless is 10-40khz in Wireless
Looks like this was a mistake on their website.
Is there anyone who used both Astro A50 wireless and this new Arctis Nova model?
What would you guys recommend?
I'm currently using A40 TR's wired for the past 3+y and kinda feel it's time to ditch these even tho they are still perfectly in takt.
Do u recommend this over the Corsair XT?
Hmm I just bought myself a Arctis 7+ after my Arctis 7 failed after 4 years of use (the right earcup hinge broke). The Arctis Nova Pro Wireless look very nice and I almost regret buying the Arctis 7+ now.. However they are 3x the price in my country so perhaps it's not really worth it for me since I am very satisfied with the Arctis 7 design! :)
Great review as always Techne!
Thanks for the stinkin' awesome review!
It sounds like I'll be happier with my TB Stealth 700 G2 Max as you definitely seemed more "wowed" with the immersion on those!
My only complaint is that I wish they got a bit louder other than that I love them!
Sorry to say but you're getting fleeced. The Gen 1s audio quality is way better than the Gen 2s
Do you use issues with the mic sensitivity with the 700 max’s? They seem like a great headset but everyone complains how sensitive the mic is where everyone in there chat party can hear every little thing
i really appreciate your reviews man, i was waiting until you uploaded a review…you’re the first person i go to 100%
thank you so much
@@TheTechne are these better than the 7x’s?
I am using these on PC and while using the Sonar noise cancellation for chat I found that it was causing my voice to cut in and out and also my friends voices would cut out. Now this was while playing Destiny 2 using the in game chat so it could just be the game. But something to keep in mind.
Didn't really talk about the audio quality enough. Also i direct comparison to the Arctis Pro or 7+ would have helped A LOT considering i recently tried both. Also the Audeze Penrose.
Edit: maybe you can replace the earpads like you did with the Penrose?
How is the penrose? I was considering getting one for 150 but I was advised against it
@@supersop1367 it has specific issues that could be absolute deal breakers.
I paid $250 and i chose it over the arctis 7+ and arctis pro and JBL quantum 800
Edit: but its not perfect. Which is why I'm looking at the nova. The swapping battery is a game changer once you try it
@@D1n0nlyD1v94 ah I see thanks
Do you think the hinges that holds the ear muff will last long? Im a bit skeptical now after my experience with 9x.
I currently have the attics pro. I might save my money and buy a nice pair of wired headphones. Thanks for the honesty!
I need to know, if you plug into the 3.5mm on the base station does it sound just as good as the wired version? The versatility would be worth it to me if so.
Why would you want to to that? Makes no sense. Get the wired version if that's what you're concerned about.
@@garethg8226 Because sometimes you might want to use them wireless? Or you want to still have the bluetooth multitasking audio? Tell me you're not serious right now. *facepalm*
How do you connect the wireless wired and get all the same benefits as the wired have?
I've asked this question too and I think if you use the wired DAC and plug the wireless headset in it should work. Still waiting for an answer.
@@xtinct316 I ended up returning the wireless and got the wired instead. They sound way better imo.
Not enough appreciate out there for Techne's great hand-gesture game.
Yes.
Yes.
the question is: is it worth upgrading from the pro wireless to the nova wireless ?
I think a white version of it would be a fire
I cannot wait for these to release in new Zealand, been waiting since my original Arctis Pro earcup cracked two year ago
I feel like the mic is better on the wired version but idk which one to buy
4:12 “that thing inside touches me”
The Techne 2022
Hi! For Pc, the quality is better in wired or wireless model?? Thank you!
What EQ settings are you using. Don't see anything posted in the community tab.
Great video! Love your content… but how did you turn the station off? I have the Xbox Arctis and after I turn off the console the station stays on.
I have Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2, would you recommend me upgrading to these?
Purchased the PlayStation version and they are dope. I think they fixed the ear cushion it seems more thick (don't feel the nub in the center) and also the latest update allows the unit to turn off when either the PC or PlayStation turns off so no burn in on the LCD as some are worried. Thanks for this review.
Can you use those for xbox aswell or do you have to get the xbox version?
Hi Techne, great review as always! I’m looking to get this headset for myself, specifically the Xbox version since it works with all platforms. But I have a PS5 and a PC. Does the port labeled Xbox on the base station work with PC? Then I could use the regular port for my PS5.
Hope you can answer my question. Love your review videos!
xbox port is only for xbox consoles
Great video as always. I have a PS5 so I was told sonar only works on PC. My Nova pros are too quiet compared to the 7x I have for series X. I have everything turned up volume all around gain high ect. Does the EQ settings save automatically because I don't see a save option or a volume limiter off option which would be nice. Any help is appreciated considering you are one of the few who gives detailed information.
Great Review! Super passionate and awesome as always!
How’s the interference/white noise. Is it terrible like the arctis pro wireless?
I have the SteelSeries Arctis Pro wired and I'm looking forward to this! One question though, I heard that this supports Dolby Atmos? How exactly do you activate that feature? Also, how does it compare with the Corsair Virtuoso XT?
Xt is cheaper and better mic
So does sonar not work with consoles? I don’t use a pc so kind of concerned about that.
Sonar is only for pc
Thoughts on these compared to astro a50 gen 4?
soon ;)
Is the connection from the control station able to support any headset say if the headset it comes with gets damaged?
After owning the steel series pros before and the Astro A50 and the Bang & Olufsen Beoplay Portal PC/PS that were $500.00 I do not think that there are any headsets that are worth $300.00 or more because I do not care what anyone says they all sound the same so I will just stay with my White Black Shark V2 that were less than $200.00 and sound just fine.
James Tolkan is doing youtube reviews now? is this headset going to top gun?
Did they fix the white noise when nothing is playing from the original Pro Wireless?
any idea where to get the replacement/upgrade earpads?
They sell them on there site for $15
@@teenycaribou7128 on the official SteelSeries site? Don’t see any for nova pro wireless tho
How much better did the wired sound? I purchased the wired and so far so good!
tomorrow ;)
