Glad to see Tremors make an appearance, one of my favorites. Love how your lists incorporate well known films as well as more obscure stuff. Your "everyman who went to film school" sort of taste reminds me a lot of the great James Rolfe.
Mine's probably like this 1.) Goodfellas // Scorsese 2.) Close-up // Kiarostami 3.) Paris is burning // Livingston 4.) Days of being wild // Wong kar-wai 5.) Miller's Crossing // Joel Coen 6.) Jacob's ladder // Lyne 7.) Wild at heart // Lynch 8.) The match factory girl // Kaurismäki 9.) Trust // Hartley 10.) Home Alone // Colombus
My top five (as of now): 5. Back to the Future Part III 4. Home Alone 3. Tremors 2. Edward Scissorhands 1. Misery Still a lot to catch up on. On a side note, I just uploaded this video of my top favorite films of 1993---in honor of my 30th birthday the other day. th-cam.com/video/X5_T4GYAeEI/w-d-xo.html
That was fast! “Goodfellas” would have to be my number one as well. But my close second is Linklater’s “Slacker.” I’d also have “Metropolitan,” “Life is Sweet,” and “Mermaids” (a girly film but I love it) on my list. You got a BIG one coming up. 1991 is, in my opinion, easily the greatest year in cinema. A ton of great stuff.
So far: 1. Dances with Wolves 2. Close-up 3. Miller's Crossing 4. Home Alone 5. Cry-Baby 6. The Hunt for Red October 7. Edward Scissorhands 8. Ghost 9. Goodfellas 10. Avalon Honorable mentions: - Cyrano de Bergerac - Awakenings - Misery
I like what you're doing with the honorable mention/overview of the year segment. Goodfellas is, of course, number 1. Millers Crossing is probably my 2nd. I had never heard of your 2nd, An Angel At My Table. I don't think it got much attention in the U.S. I bet more people here have seen Troll 2.
My top 1990 movies: "Europa Europa" directed by Agnieszka Holland / The Memphis Belle / The Fourth war / The Night of the fox and Kojak: It's Always Something (tv movie).
Aside from seeing a double bill of Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back with my dad, aged 5 (me, not him), back in 1980, Goodfellas remains one of the most memorable cinema experiences of my life. I was 15 then and went without my Dad (I can't remember what he was doing that night, but if i remember I will certainly let you all know).
1. Joe Vs the Volcano 2. Dick Tracy 3. Blue Steel 4. Internal Affairs 5. Reversal of Fortune 6. Wild at Heart 7. The Hunt for Red October 8. After Dark, My Sweet 9. King of New York 10. Home Alone
“Goodfellas” should’ve won the Oscar for Best Picture over “Dances with Wolves”. - Goodfellas - Dances with Wolves - Close-Up - The Hunt for Red October - Miller’s Crossing - Total Recall - Wild at Heart - Ghost - La Femme Nikita
My Top 10 1. Goodfellas 2. Ghost 3. Akira Kurasawas Dreams 4. House Party 5. King of New York 6. Edward Scissorhands 7. Dances With Wolves 8. Misery 9. Days of Thunder 10. Childs Play 2.

Two films weren't mentioned. 1) comic book adaptation of Dick Tracy directed and starred Warren Beaty along with Madonna and Another 48 Hours. The sequel with Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte

Ooooh! Ghost would probably make my list as well. The ending of the scene where he learns how to move physical objects is quite nice. The special effects aren’t the cool part there. It’s the lack of them as he slaps the sign on his way out. No Total recall though? Probably my favorite Arnold flick. A action movie that is kinda smart as well. Well what would the fun of life if we all thought alike?
My 10 for 1990 10. Slacker 9. Days of Being Wild 8. Green Card 7. Pump Up The Volume 6. Dances With Wolves 5. An Angel At My Table 4. Wild At Heart 3. Trust 2. Goodfellas NUMBER ONE: JU DOU
I know stephen king's It was a direct to television movie but it had a lot of talented actors and actresses including tim curry's role as pennywise the clown. Another film that is less talk about is Tales From The Darkside The Movie. Especially since some of the people who worked on the 1982 horror anthology creepshow. King again was involved with the segment called cat from hell.

Where is Ghost ? It is the most popular movie in 1990
