Haven’t kept up with the game TOO much since there’s no tournaments or regionals to prep for, but thought I’d play around and see what the new stuff has to offer 👀
I personally play a full chimera engine with three gazelle and three chimera fusion. This way I can set up a guardian chimera + more illusion plays for next turn since berfomet actually has more search targets. Branded in white is also pretty cool with a mirrorjade to search mercourier
I love the Chimera cards! Personally I like them best as basically a pure deck that just runs Branded Fusion + Prosperity for additional starters. Sooo much room for non-engine and handtraps. I tried the larger Branded package and it just felt bricky to me. Like I should just be playing regular Branded.
I've been testing this variant of Branded for some time now, not taking it seriously at all either. I decided to whack in Beast-Eyes Pendulum Dragon into the X deck as to add burn damage to it. Plus, it's contact fusion effect isn't too bad.
I feel like one branded in white is a must In this deck. It lets branded fusion still make mirror jade if you go for the chimera plays (kitt searches branded in white instead of branded in red) I also still run lubelion and saronir and the branded lost with mercourier to give more flexibility and mercourier is really good to have against kash since it gets its search when banished. Granted I'm also on 44 cards to cut down on drawing berformet and chimera fusion.
After playing it and seeing it played at my locals I feel like the deck runs into the issue of having too many good normal summons where often you get left with Aluber and Swordmirror in hand and you have to sacrifice half the deck to play the rest (which its really funny game two when you hit them with surprise Chimera engine). It can just feel really cloggy especially if you open with any of your other searchers/chimera pieces. Additionally the engine introduces a weakness new to branded which is droll and lock bird which is running around for a lot of people right now. I do think the chimera variant is more fun than just straight up branded (who doesn't like handrip and two negates) but is slightly worse. If any of the main branded pieces do get hit I would totally run it over some of the supplemental branded cards that have seen play in the OCG.
Let's gooooo, been waiting to see your thoughts on this. The Chimera/illusion stuff is so cool and makes the deck so unique. Definitely seems like a good pick for the format
The chimera engine is a lot of fun! You mentioned in the last combo to send swordknight to grave to make it live but I believe it can be sent from field or grave 😊
I believe the reason branded players lose to ash is because they're very afraid of it. i always play around it. if the ash my fusion i still puppet lock with ease.
Plays through Ash better but loses to Droll worse so I think it’s kind of a toss up. If you play Titaniklad and Quem, you can still do double Mirrorjade on the opponent’s turn
Yeah first losing to ash but deciding to lose to droll instead is really out of the frying pan and into the fire because ash says 1 thing doesn’t go through which might not be the end of the world but droll says you aren’t playing at all

Incredibly sad to see Keeper no longer in your build. I understand why but it just makes me sad :(
I honestly didn't care for keeper. Made my deck brick too much.

Update: just play 3 branded fusion, 2 Albaz, and a Versago. This way you can fit 19-20 non engine

Magnum the reliever doesn’t fusion deploy only let you summon a monster that’s specifically listed
