A very very helpful revelation as always! Thank you. As a senior citizen ..Remembering Adobe’s huge range of keyboard shortcuts is the problem! One’s used frequently stick others kinda evaporate!
Watching your Lightroom tutorials with interest many thanks. Just one remark, showing keyboard shortcuts for every move is of course very helpful but if in the meantime you can make it a habit each time to also show where that functionality is in the dropdown menus, or elsewhere where applicable, it will help us to find them back if somehow we won't remember what the shortcut was. Thanks, Fikret.
Nice video as always, I do wish you could also just select the sea, (maybe a future update) the only way I've found is to select the sky and then invert it and refine the mask, and using a brush remove what you don't want. If there's a faster way I'd love to see a video on that. TIA.
Thanks Anthony, this is the only video I have seen about the new masking ability that covers keyboard shortcuts. I was thinking that it would be good if you could use the intersect function with masks that you have created and named, maybe one for the next upgrade.
HI Anthony, very good tip. But: at least in the German version the keyboard shortcut "n" only will work, if you have a simple mask, for example selected the sky or the subject. If you have complex masks, for example sky combined with the brush, the shortcut will not work. And, of course, the ' (apostrophe) for inverting the mask will only work with the specific mask (f.e. the brush or the radial filter), not with the 'global' mask. Again thank you for your tips! Carsten
I find the luminosity and color selection far too broad. In the former version of LR, I could select a small spot and make my adjustment. Now, half the image lights up (mask) even when the luminosity sliders are adjusted. Not altogether fond of this "improvement".
Thank you for your video! Help! I always work with an external hard drive in Lightroom and I have a back up hd too , but when I open my back up hd all the photos have a ! and I cant open them, what is the problem? Thank you.
Hi Anthony, I am using Photoshop CS5 on my Mac running 10.13.6 High Sierra. I would like to upgrade my OS but I know that Photoshop will not work well if at all. So far CS5 has been sufficient for me but I would like to buy some additional software Topaz, Silver Effects Pro, etc but they need a newer OS. If I upgrade my OS I would have to subscribe to Photoshop which I really do not want to do. Do you have any suggestions aside from using Affinity Photo? Thanks
Question: if you “hit” the ‘N” key, will it save the edits that were made to the previous mask. For example, in the lighthouse example, there are areas that I would remove from the sky overlay. I would brush them out. Would those changes follow, so when I invert the new mask, I would not have to make further adjustments.
Anthony, What utility are you using to enlarge portions of the Lightroom screen for emphasis? I do similar things for my photo club and that ability would be very valuable.
When I press the n key it duplicates the mask the new mask is inactive, when I move the sliders nothing happens. It works fine using the sky masking but not the other masking tools.
This new masking feature is great BUT OMG has it slowed my LRC down since I upgraded to Version 11. Its seconds now to do anything. I hope Adobe are going to find some way of fixing this problem, because its making LRC almost pointless! I guess this is the problem you add some new fantastic AI functionality and it eats the processing power of your PC!!!!!!!!!!!
On ipad, it didnt affect speed of the app. Performs the same. Auto Masking is also surprisingly rapid

Hello, thank you. Is there a keyboard shortcut that shows all masks? Brushes, radial and transition filters. I accidentally squeezed something once and everything came up. But I couldn't do it again.
