@@saigiridhar2147 iCloud chat backup is not mandatory when you are using direct copy option. The way it works is, the App DBs are copied over using this direct copy process, and then the Apps are installed on the new phone (that use the same old DBs). So Whatsapp will be installed again, and then you'll be asked to do the SMS verification that will enable the connection to the old DB (and hence the old chats and media).

To anyone having issues make sure your iOS on BOTH phones is the same OR new phone has a new version. I.e if your OLD phone is running iOS 13 but your NEW phone is still running 12.4 from factory you can’t data transfer. You must use quick set up the new iPhone use old Apple ID for this then update iOS to latest version, once complete reset new iPhone erasing all data. Now follow the instructions above👍. Took me 8 hrs to figure it out😂🤬🤬

Jamie, this worked beautifully, transferring data from my old iPhone 7 to my new iPhone 11. After acquiring the image to transfer the data, my new phone wound up downloading and installing an OS upgrade, but after that, proceeded to do the data transfer, moving about 36GB of data in about 11 minutes. Thanks very much for the video, saved me a lot of frustration.
it should do some of them but it might prompt you to re enter most of them because you are switching to a different device so apps might want to verify that or for other reasons
I have tired this and it works, if for some reason you don’t have “Transfer from iPhone” option, it IS because the phone is not updated. It can be the new device that you received, what you have to do is set up the new device as New iPhone, no need to use Apple ID, or any back up. Connect it to power, and WiFi and update it. Make sure that your other phone is also up to date. After the update is complete, you can Reset and Erase everything from your new device and there you have it “Transfer From iPhone” option. Stay home and wash your hands

Good video but there's one critical issue that was not mentioned: If you're new phone has lower GB storage capacity than your old phone... the transfer will not be able to copy all your data from your old phone over to your new phone!
Jamie Wagner - I actually repair phones for a living and unfortunately this happens quite often, when somone gets a newer phone with less GB's and asks me to to transfer every thing over. The good thing is, critical items like screen layouts, settings and Apps get priority and transfer just fine... while photos and/or music get slightly less priority and won't of course fully transfer due to non-matching storage capacities.

make sure they are close together and plug them in also so they are charging fully charged if you can, and turn on bluetooth If your current iPhone and new iPhone are both using iOS 12.4 it should work, since you have 13 it should work also reboot both phone also see if that helps

Would this transfer ones music library? Even if not all music was purchased from Apple iTunes? Even if it was from old cd’s that were implemented on prior MacBook, that no longer works?
you can try it, because it's supposed to transfer everything, it won't delete nothing on your old phone if you try it, so it won't hurt to try it. If you do try it, please comment back here so people can find the answer to that question if you do it and it works! thanks!
Jamie Wagner I appreciate the response. I am not yet at the point of replacing my iPhone and iPad. But, this has been a concern for me since I no longer have a MacBook. I really do not wish to purchase the Apple Music cloud and have those extra monthly payments, plus it is my understanding that Apple Music finds the music closely resembled to those in one’s library. I feel if I am paying $10 a month just starting monthly fee for a cloud backup of my music, I want my music. So, it is either find a method that completely transfers all data or rather than getting an iPad in the future, getting the least expensive MacBook. Again I appreciate your response! use i cloud. Takes minutes and less headaches. It's only thing I use I cloud for. i use 3Utools for everything else including making my own ring tones. 3Utools is FREE
Mia Venters I have tired this and it works, if for some reason you don’t have “Transfer from iPhone” option, it IS because the phone is not updated. Trying to do this from my 6s to xs max but it doesn’t give me the option to transfer from my old phone only iCloud, iTunes, or set up as new phone, the 6s has iOS 13.3.1 and Bluetooth and wifi are on, both phones fully charged and plugged in, any advice?

Couple of questions, if you could answer all; 1. Will it transfer App data specially some biggie data apps like WhatsApp (Video, Audio, Documents, Messages) from old iPhone to new iPhone. If no then what kind of data is at risk of loss? 2. An old iphone with 55GB of System and App data will take how much time to transfer to new device? 3. Is it better to say that even today 'Restore from Backup' via iTunes is still better and faster than this method?
yeah if you can restore with itunes and you have the storage to do it then I would just do it that way, and yes it should transfer everything that you metion over, but you don't have to do it, but if you do try it it won't delete anything from your old phone if it don't work anyway

Sorry this might be a silly question but the part about the SIM card, do I take the SIM card out of the old phone before I transfer the data and why do they put a SIM card into the new phone if you have to take it out? Sorry if this is a silly question I just want to make sure I do it right. 😳😬
It's actually a really good question, If your new iPhone already came with a new sim card installed already then just leave it in and then go ahead and transfer the data. Mine didn't come with any sim card because I purchased my iPhone at full price so I can choose what ever cell phone company I want, mine is considered sim free at this point after I received it in the mail because it came without a sim card installed. Most people purchase their phones through their cell phone provider because it's cheaper to have a contract where you pay for the phone monthly, in that case they usually send you your new phone with the sim card already installed. If I decided to use this iPhone then I would go get a new sim card from like ATT or Verizon or whoever I go with to install it into this iPhone myself or have them do it. I just bought this iPhone to use later, I already have another phone I'm currently using. You really don't even have to have a sim card installed to be able to do this video, you could also install the sim card after you do the data transfer.
If they gave you a sim card already in the new phone then they probably disabled the sim card that's in your old phone and the old one won't work anymore since they probably activated your new sim card in your new phone. I hope that's not confusing you.

Jaimie, the reason I want to do this type of transfer is because iCloud, or PC back-up on iTunes only captures music that was downloaded from Apple, not all the music you have uploaded from CD's, Albums, etc over the years. Will this process transfer "ALL" music and video from the old phone. Also is there a way to get that music file imported into a new copy of iTunes on a laptop? Great tutorial Thank you

If you get four options at 3:13 instead of two options it means the phone you're transferring data to does not have ios 12.4 or newer. You have to set up the phone as a new iphone, update the ios, then erase all content and settings like he showed at 2:01. After that you can do the transfer. Thanks Jamie for the video!

I think you have to have an iPhone 6s and newer to do this but I’m not sure I would have to double check how far back it goes that might be why it’s not popping up unless for whatever reason you get it to pop up and it works the only thing I can recommend doing is rebooting both of your phones see if you can get it that way
Jamie Wanger Hi, I have a huge problem right now I really need help. 4 days ago I backed up my iPhone 6s 128 gb to my iTunes on PC to update it from iOS 10 to 13. The backup was completed after 6-7 hours, then I updated my iphone but after the update finished my phone was stuck on Apple logo so I had to restore it. After restoring I started to restore my backup on pc but I disconnected the phone from pc after 3 hours because the pc drive was being full only 2 gb left. (My pc made a new file while restoring my backup for whatever reason) There’s a chance that my main backup data is mixed with the new one. Then I copied my other iPhone’s backup to Drive D and I deleted it from drive C to free 60 GB space. Then I took my phone to service outside and they tried to restore the backup but it finished in like 30 mins and it only brought back applications which I don’t care about I just need my photos and videos back. They said your pc says your iTunes backup was corrupt and we cannot do anything. I tried in home as well and my pc made some new backups automatically and when I select on the backup that I made 4 days ago it says ITUNES COULDNT RESTORE THE BACKUP BECAUSE IT WAS CORRUPT. Please let me know if there is any ways to solve this problem because there was a lot of data in my phone near 128 gb 4 years of data PLEASE HELP ME Thank you very much!

thank you for this helpful video but I wish you would have been more specific when you said that transferring data can take "quite a while." I am going from an iPhone 8 to iPhone XR and it has been transferring data for 5 hours now. I don't know if that is normal or if I need to cancel and start all over again.

Sounds like it’s not giving you the option to do it the way I did it in the video. You might have to set it up as a new phone and then sync your iCloud to it
There were issues setting up on my new carrier where they had to reset it a couple of times before it linked up to making calls/texts/etc. I'm assuming all of that will have to be done from the start as well? I'm just trying to avoid that headache again.
I'm gonna guess that since you already had to deal with that, it probably won't be that bad again, I do remember dealing with that kind of stuff in the past, I was crazy trying to deal with theses people on the phone like ATT or Verizon but things have really improved since those days.

yes it can, make sure you have imessages set to backup up to icloud, it's in your settings, but mine copied over just fine

You can transfer the Sim card whenever you want to you can do it before or after the transfer

usually you just move the sim card over maybe they did it differently or something or have different service

Jose carlos Do a backup on WhatsApp then after u reinstall the App back on your new phone, everything should transfer.

I was wondering on moving your data to your new phone, will it automatically include your passwords in every apps?
it should do some of them but it might prompt you to re enter most of them because you are switching to a different device so apps might want to verify that or for other reasons
I have tired this and it works, if for some reason you don’t have “Transfer from iPhone” option, it IS because the phone is not updated. It can be the new device that you received, what you have to do is set up the new device as New iPhone, no need to use Apple ID, or any back up. Connect it to power, and WiFi and update it. Make sure that your other phone is also up to date. After the update is complete, you can Reset and Erase everything from your new device and there you have it “Transfer From iPhone” option.

For some reason it's not working for you, you might need to reboot both of your devices and start over again

Good video but there's one critical issue that was not mentioned: If you're new phone has lower GB storage capacity than your old phone... the transfer will not be able to copy all your data from your old phone over to your new phone!

Jamie Wagner - I actually repair phones for a living and unfortunately this happens quite often, when somone gets a newer phone with less GB's and asks me to to transfer every thing over. The good thing is, critical items like screen layouts, settings and Apps get priority and transfer just fine... while photos and/or music get slightly less priority and won't of course fully transfer due to non-matching storage capacities.

Yes updating can take a while I’m sure it’s ok its best to let it finish but it depends on where it’s at in the updating process

make sure they are close together and plug them in also so they are charging fully charged if you can, and turn on bluetooth If your current iPhone and new iPhone are both using iOS 12.4 it should work, since you have 13 it should work also reboot both phone also see if that helps

Would this transfer ones music library? Even if not all music was purchased from Apple iTunes? Even if it was from old cd’s that were implemented on prior MacBook, that no longer works?
you can try it, because it's supposed to transfer everything, it won't delete nothing on your old phone if you try it, so it won't hurt to try it. If you do try it, please comment back here so people can find the answer to that question if you do it and it works! thanks!
Jamie Wagner I appreciate the response. I am not yet at the point of replacing my iPhone and iPad. But, this has been a concern for me since I no longer have a MacBook. I really do not wish to purchase the Apple Music cloud and have those extra monthly payments, plus it is my understanding that Apple Music finds the music closely resembled to those in one’s library. I feel if I am paying $10 a month just starting monthly fee for a cloud backup of my music, I want my music. So, it is either find a method that completely transfers all data or rather than getting an iPad in the future, getting the least expensive MacBook. Again I appreciate your response! Couple of questions, if you could answer all;
1. Will it transfer App data specially some biggie data apps like WhatsApp (Video, Audio, Documents, Messages) from old iPhone to new iPhone. If no then what kind of data is at risk of loss?
2. An old iphone with 55GB of System and App data will take how much time to transfer to new device?
3. Is it better to say that even today 'Restore from Backup' via iTunes is still better and faster than this method?
yeah if you can restore with itunes and you have the storage to do it then I would just do it that way, and yes it should transfer everything that you metion over, but you don't have to do it, but if you do try it it won't delete anything from your old phone if it don't work anyway

Sorry this might be a silly question but the part about the SIM card, do I take the SIM card out of the old phone before I transfer the data and why do they put a SIM card into the new phone if you have to take it out? Sorry if this is a silly question I just want to make sure I do it right. 😳😬
It's actually a really good question, If your new iPhone already came with a new sim card installed already then just leave it in and then go ahead and transfer the data. Mine didn't come with any sim card because I purchased my iPhone at full price so I can choose what ever cell phone company I want, mine is considered sim free at this point after I received it in the mail because it came without a sim card installed. Most people purchase their phones through their cell phone provider because it's cheaper to have a contract where you pay for the phone monthly, in that case they usually send you your new phone with the sim card already installed. If I decided to use this iPhone then I would go get a new sim card from like ATT or Verizon or whoever I go with to install it into this iPhone myself or have them do it. I just bought this iPhone to use later, I already have another phone I'm currently using. You really don't even have to have a sim card installed to be able to do this video, you could also install the sim card after you do the data transfer.
If they gave you a sim card already in the new phone then they probably disabled the sim card that's in your old phone and the old one won't work anymore since they probably activated your new sim card in your new phone. I hope that's not confusing you.

yes you can do the transfer with or without the sim card it don't matter when you put it in, I usually just install it first and then do the transfer

Yes it should work just make sure you’re running iOS 12.4 or newer and it should give you the option to do the transfer

Jaimie, the reason I want to do this type of transfer is because iCloud, or PC back-up on iTunes only captures music that was downloaded from Apple, not all the music you have uploaded from CD's, Albums, etc over the years. Will this process transfer "ALL" music and video from the old phone. Also is there a way to get that music file imported into a new copy of iTunes on a laptop? Great tutorial Thank you

I'm not sure why it would do that? I never heard of it doing that, are you connected to the internet? be sure to connect to wifi and try it
If you get four options at 3:13 instead of two options it means the phone you're transferring data to does not have ios 12.4 or newer. You have to set up the phone as a new iphone, update the ios, then erase all content and settings like he showed at 2:01. After that you can do the transfer. Thanks Jamie for the video!

I think you have to have an iPhone 6s and newer to do this but I’m not sure I would have to double check how far back it goes that might be why it’s not popping up unless for whatever reason you get it to pop up and it works the only thing I can recommend doing is rebooting both of your phones see if you can get it that way

4 days ago I backed up my iPhone 6s 128 gb to my iTunes on PC to update it from iOS 10 to 13.
The backup was completed after 6-7 hours, then I updated my iphone but after the update finished my phone was stuck on Apple logo so I had to restore it.
After restoring I started to restore my backup on pc but I disconnected the phone from pc after 3 hours because the pc drive was being full only 2 gb left. (My pc made a new file while restoring my backup for whatever reason) There’s a chance that my main backup data is mixed with the new one.
Then I copied my other iPhone’s backup to Drive D and I deleted it from drive C to free 60 GB space.
Then I took my phone to service outside and they tried to restore the backup but it finished in like 30 mins and it only brought back applications which I don’t care about I just need my photos and videos back. They said your pc says your iTunes backup was corrupt and we cannot do anything.
I tried in home as well and my pc made some new backups automatically and when I select on the backup that I made 4 days ago it says ITUNES COULDNT RESTORE THE BACKUP BECAUSE IT WAS CORRUPT.
Please let me know if there is any ways to solve this problem because there was a lot of data in my phone near 128 gb 4 years of data PLEASE HELP ME Thank you very much!

Sounds like it’s not giving you the option to do it the way I did it in the video. You might have to set it up as a new phone and then sync your iCloud to it
There were issues setting up on my new carrier where they had to reset it a couple of times before it linked up to making calls/texts/etc. I'm assuming all of that will have to be done from the start as well? I'm just trying to avoid that headache again.
I'm gonna guess that since you already had to deal with that, it probably won't be that bad again, I do remember dealing with that kind of stuff in the past, I was crazy trying to deal with theses people on the phone like ATT or Verizon but things have really improved since those days.
