Prince Solomon, with his closest man, Ibrahim Pargam Ibrahim receives the bad news in a hunt. His father Yavuz Sultan Selim Khan passed away. Prince Suleyman sets out for Istanbul without waiting. Prince Süleyman quickly reaches the capital. He attends the culus ceremony without waiting. His life changed in one day. He started his life as Sultan Süleyman.
Meanwhile, a galley loaded with slaves coming over the Black Sea is heading towards Istanbul. The hottest of the slaves is not yet aware that he is on a journey that will change his destiny. He is rebelling helplessly to return.
Sultan Süleyman wants to show what kind of sultan he is by the commands he gave on the first day of his sultanate. But not everyone will like these decisions. Sultan Süleyman does not hesitate to challenge all of Europe with the messages he sends.
Alex, despite all his rebellion, is brought to the Topkapi palace. His attitude attracted the attention of Valide Sultan from the first moment. But it won't be long before Alex learns the rules of the palace. He chooses a great target. Alex, Sultan Suleyman's first night on the way to attract his attention. Sultan Suleiman's wife Mahidevran just arrived from the palace of Manisa. He is looking forward to seeing his wife.

This was a very cruel thing that Sully did to Hurrem! The fear and despair of Hurrem in Sully betraying her like that doubting her loyalty. Then the way he look after she had died (passed out) from the "poison" was an attribute to his indifference and cruelty. He just looked at her body on the bed like it didn't even matter. No sorrow or anything that he had done this terrible deed. He just walked into the balcony very casual as if nothing occured. Even though it wasn't poison, the viewers didn't know that, so his actions seemed to be very indifferent. Even if it had actually been poison would he had been so casual about it?
Acting can not go beyond than what she performed in this scene, Amazing.
Literally. I keep coming back to this very scene bcoz I can't get enough of her acting here. The bravery to sacrifice even her life in the name of trust and love, the crying filled with fear of death, the heartfelt confession in her "last" breath, just. WOW.

You know, if I was Suleiman, I'd be pretty interested that, in what Hurrem thought were her last words, she pleaded for her children to not just be protected not just from Mahidevran (expected, honestly) but Ibrahim too.

I think he did. Think about It, he didn't trust Mahidevran for a long time and she was his first suspect If anything happened to Hurrem or their children. Ibrahim, well I think Suleyman was suspisious of him since the first time he covered Mahidevran and had an eye on him after all from what I can tell he was thinking about executing him for quite some time but has been forgiving him on account the fact he was his brother-in-law,saved his life,was like a Brother to him and a great subject for the Empire but Ibrahim began digging his own grave even before Hurrem started fighting him.
It took the words taken down by the scribe to finally convince Sueliman Ibrahim had been betraying him for years. Instead of being his brother, he was actually Sueliman's worst enemy. Add to that the bust Ibrahim made of himself and why, which Sueliman heard Ibrahim say in his own words. The throne he put in his palace, addressing himself as The Sultan, his unbelievable arrogance, enormous ego that finally convinced Sueliman Ibrahim must be executed. Then buried in an unmarked pauper's grave.
@@helenenewman3651 It's one of those moments where historically, sure, it's a complex issue that's still being unpacked, but in the show it's pretty clear cut like you said. It's a part of what makes her and Ibrahim such great foils (as best described by Hurrem herself when she visits his grave in the final season). Both were vying to be the closest to the sultan while going far outside the limits of their positions. But, while Hurrem used her love and loyalty to Suleiman, along with the appearances of her position to win, Ibrahim pushed too far and in his arrogance forgot where his source of power actually originated from.

Mahidevran was her own worst enemy. Nobody took her seriously. She would mouth off, usually lied, and then cried and played the victim. She always expected others to fight her battles. Hurrem always accepted whatever she was dealt.

That's why she was caring poison every time Hurrem was afraid she would lose Suleiman. Whether that would be from other women or Suleiman's sickness. Going further into the story I can tell her personality was forming around Suleiman's beliefs and ideologies. Now that I have seen the entire series I understand that she really was Suleiman's shadow as she herself had explained to him in the last season. The way she would tell Mihrimah that love is great but loyalty is more important. Exactly what Suleiman would say and want in his life (maybe because he may had a fear not to end up betrayed by someone close to him like Selim I) She had the most absolute loyalty to him and only him.
Despite the seriousness of these scenes, I have to say Hürrem looks beautiful.

It is not about goodness. It's about love, survival and also power. In that world where one brother becomes the Sultan after killing another brother, how can anyone expect goodness and simplicity? It's a battle of the survival of the fittest. Perhaps in history, things happened differently. But for this show, Hurrem did what she had to do to survive and win. As for Mahidevran being the most beautiful-- well she certainly lost there too. Not the most beautiful is always the most loved.
In real life, hurrem did everything she could to survive and have a son of hers to ascend the throne. She snitched both Mustafa and Ibrahim to get them executed, because both were guilty.

A real shame too, because Ibrahim in all his greed was an EXCELLENT strategist, and Mustafa, I believe, would have made quite the decent emperor. I think the two of them, with the help of Hurrem and maybe even Mahidevran, could have really expanded the Ottoman Empire far past Europe and Eurasia.

That's not fair. Mahidevran had to stop loving Suleyman because she couldn't raise Mustafa properly with a broken heart. Ever since she came to Tokapi Palace she has been dying each day for Suleyman and he was unforgiving (meanwhile he always forgives Hürrem). So of course Mahidevran wouldn't die for Suleyman at this point, she already did and he didn't care.

What i understand about Hurrem is that...she's beautiful, smart, public-spirited, strong woman. Her personality really matched with Suleyman. That's why suleyman was magnificent in his time. Together, they made the strongest empire.
Pertaining to the gossip in real harem or in this series that hurrem is a witch who manipulated suleyman? i think people back then are uneducated and love gossiping. They dont understand what love really is, because marriage is an arrangement back then.
And for mustafa's death? Base on this fiction and history, I believe smart ,strong, just Suleyman did the best thing.. because disobedience is a rebellion. (Who are we anyway to judge the past when we're not there?) Some said mustafa would be a powerful sultan...how do you know? Considering the history of other countries before and after suleyman's death, european countries were strong enough to counterattack the ottoman. The dynasty survived for centuries after suleyman means a victory. And in my humble opinion, the downfall was not bec of Suleyman. It's because of the corrupt pashas and had something to do with the blood lineage. Because the royal descendants are not pure Turkish. When loyalty disappear, a dynasty collapse.
