Love all your choices!!! ❤❤❤
Thank you so much xx
Thanks for the inspiration! Also, this green ilha really brings out your eye colour 👍🏻
Thanks so much :)
My goodness what a lovely assorted group of knits you have chosen. The yarn for these are in your possession.
I went to see the optician yesterday and she had to put drops in my eye to dilate my pupils. I could do nothing as well no knitting. I woke up today and the pupils had not corrected themselves and I had a headache another day of doing nothing grrr ..... take care Tash ❤😊
I hope as i write this you are feeling better Rosemary. i would be so sad to not be able to knit for a while. Take care and hope you are better. x
I find the planning part to be half the fun! I’m constantly playing with my queue. I just cast on a Setesdal sweater from a book I’ve had for ages, “Scandinavian sweaters” by Kristin Wiola Ødegård and I’m super excited to make that one. I look forward to seeing your plans come to life 😊
Thank you so much for sharing Joanne. I am totally with you on the fun of planning. :)
I love your spreadsheet! What a great way to organize your plans!
it's so nice to see your plans, the patterns, and yarns.
I recently cast on a Jennifer Steingass sweater, Silverlining, with Queensland Kathmandu DK and Ewetopia Helix DX. The Ewetopia is spun locally to me. It's a gorgeous color-changing yarn. I'm loving it! The Kathmandu is a tweed made from 85% Merino Wool, 10% Silk, 5% Cashmere.
Thank you so much Mary. Your Silverlining sounds amazing. I love Jennifer's patterns.
Such organisation !!. I love your choices and that they already have yarn in stash.
My plans just got disrupted in the nicest way. We will be getting a new grandson in early March and I'm frantically knitting tiny clothes and a christening shawl. Thanks Tash 👩🌾🐑🐮
What a wonderful reason for knitting interruption. :)
Great plans Tash and so organised. Pure Joy on my needles at the moment and I am so enjoying this, also knitting socks which are always on my needles. I want to knit a cardigan as I am not a jumper person but I keep changing my mind lol xx
Thank you so much Carol. Glad to hear you are enjoying Pure Joy. :)
I made 3 Sabai tops this summer, I love the pattern, its my favourite type of travel knitting because the armhole ribbing doesn't need smaller needles, just knit knit knit knit 😂
Thank you so much for sharing that Jacquelyn. That is great to hear. :)
Dear Tash!!!! It is so exciting to heard all the projects you have in needles and on the list!
I dream with knitting the Intarsia jacket by Rililie and i will start my 2025 knitting with Rosea Sweater by Refined! Thanks for all the good podcast during your holidays!!!! Its been great!!!!
Thank you so much Maria. Your plans sound like really fun knitting. :)
Omg that was like a strong shot of coffee!!! So fun and such great choices, it’s going to be a fun year watching those projects come to life. I do love cardigans now, I’ve recently done the Felia (Irene Lin), Daydreamer (Kutovakika) both will be good for the gym and a self drafted one. Never had cardigans much but finally understand them 🤭 just bought the Mia and April cardigan. Blingy buttons from Spotlight last year - $20 then half price then a $5 voucher from ordering online and collecting ….. total $5 felt like a budget warrior 💪🏻🤣 have fun!
Looking forward to seeing those finished cardis. Love the Mia and April as well. Well done on the fancy buttons. I do love a good bargain - combining discounts and vouchers for the win! x
You have selective some really beautiful color combinations for your colorwork. I am looking forward to seeing your knits. Happy Knitting 🧶 😊
Thank you so much Stephanie. :)
Hi Tash,
Really like the Ilana top. Suits our climate very well. Look forward to seeing it on the needles.
Have been inspired to knit more hats at the moment following your lead! Summer hats in 4ply. Take ages to knit but very satisfying. Trying to use patterns I already own. The Bough and Change Your Mind (by Joji L)
Look forward to your next podcast.
Kindest regards
Lynn, Western Australia (knifton on Ravelry)
Thank you so much Lynn. 4ply projects may take longer but definitely worth it if we wear them more. :)
Tash what beautiful choices. I love all of them. I love the choice of yarn color for each one. I will be watching as you knit along. I just love your videos.
Thank you so much Patsy. :)
Lots of great ideas for projects! Presently I have my second Anker sweater on the needles with a will I got from NZ. Will be trying the Storm Sweater by PK using the Peer Gant in ash melange just waiting for the yarn…Thanks so much for your time 😊
Thanks so much Florence. Lovely projects!
Bravo Tash, I am inspired to make a cotton/ silk tee this year which I have not made before. I hope to get my gauge and sizing right. After 60 years of knitting I am still learning. Your stash makes me feel better about mine. You have a ton! 😊
Thank you so much Amy. I hope you enjoy making a tee out of cotton silk. I am wearing my summery tops a lot! I do love having a stash and being able to shop from it. :)
I’ve made one Ilha and am almost done with a second. I love this pattern too.
It is fun, isnt it? Just the right amount of paying attention. With lovely details. :)
You made my day, when I saw what you were discussing today. I am trying to use my stash, even if I have to buy a mohair or lace weight to go with what I have. Thank you so much Tash. Lovely as ever!
Thank you so much Susan. :)
Great idea! Loved the spread sheet! Really liked your podcast!! Thanks ❤
Thank you so much Diana. I am so glad you enjoyed it. x
Whilst I will only make a few things this year, I really enjoy hearing about your plans. Love how organised you are with your knitting. I noticed there were no crocheted garments on your list. Would love to know what you would crochet 🧶 🙋🏼♀️💕
Thank you so much Gail. Just small crochet items like coasters and washcloths at the moment but I am slowly building my skills to where i could see a garment being made. Maybe 2026? x
You will have the most SPECTACULAR knitted wardrobe Tash! Major kudos on the organization of your spreadsheet. The joy it brings you shines from your eyes. Look forward to seeing your progress throughout the year. I have quite large list of cardigans that I’m excited about. I’m going to begin with Maja by Meiju Kallio 🩶
Thank you so much Leanne. That is a very pretty cardigan. Love the texture. Looking forward to seeing that in your videos. :)
Tash, I am using the exact same shade of the Amarisu to make the Poppy Tee. I bought it at Walnut Tokyo 1 1/2 years ago. A lovely, lovely yarn. Thank you for another terrific podcast. I will be in withdrawal after you return to work and the podcasts come only every two weeks (just kidding)!
Isnt it a gorgeous colour? I love it. I am glad you are enjoying working with the yarn. :)
We are actually heading to Tokyo and Kyoto on Sunday. I am going to both Walnuts, of course, but will try to buy very little. Is there anything you would like me to pick up for you?
The Sabai Top is so elegant !
I think so too. That one will be made soon, i think. All that stockinette. :)
I love almost all of the patterns you chose for your 2025 plans ! ❤❤❤
Thank you so much. I am so excited with all the plans! xx
I have quite a lot if projects planned as well. Sweaters and summer tops for me, knits for my husband and children, gift knits, ornaments, and charity knits. Lots of socks in there too.
Thank you so much for sharing Elena. Planning is part of the fun! :)
In the last couple of months I have made 5 Traveller Cowls with leftover fingering yarn (made size large). It was so satisfying to use up many colours in a fade and give them to friends. If you do go ahead with the Melides Dress, Sheri from Goodknits did a series of podcasts through her journey.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with the Traveler Cowl. Leftover fingering sounds like an excellent idea. I love Sheri's podcast. I will definitely go back and watch her videos on the dress before i start. :)
All lovely and inspiring plans ( quite a fan of Petite Knit here as well😊 ); Always appreciate your calm, pleasant, well 'choreographed' presentations;
thinking how lucky your students are, as surely you present the mathematics lessons the same way 💫
Aw - Thank you so much Margot. It helps when you are passionate about what you are teaching. :)
Very exciting Tash. Love, love your choices. Always inspiring. Now to look at my stash and get a few things going. Love your spreadsheet as well.
Thank you so much Jan. Hope you find some inspiration from your stash. :)
Very impressive, love the spreadsheet idea. I just use an A5 sized spiral bound thick book to record all of my projects, at the start of the year I put a new page header for the new year and list all the items I'd like to make for family, friends, charity and myself. This year I'm knitting a lot more for myself, I've started Pressed Flowers Cardigan by Amy Christoffers and newly released Midlands Cardigan by Laura Penrose. I've been waiting for that one to launch, already had some handdyed speckled yarn and mohair in my stash and I got gauge - yay!.
The Pressed Flowers cardigan is gorgeous and the construction on Midlands looks so interesting. Very cool! Hope you enjoy your cardigans! :)
Hello Tash, you inspire me a lot. Thank you for your video. Greetings from Prague. Dagmar
Thank you so much Dagmar. That is a lovely comment. :)
Looking forward to watching you knit planned and unplanned knits!! I have a very long list and I am excited about all of it. Some garments I am planning to make are repeats. There is 5th Eva in there lol... For summer I am super excited to cast on my second Claire Vest and experimenting with some modifications.
No way! 5 Eva's? That's awesome. I am so happy to hear you have enjoyed that knit and obviously enjoy wearing them. :)
@@mostlyknitting in the category of boxy dk v-neck cardigans this is my absolute perfect fit. It does better with slightly more structured yarn though. If I wanted to use fingering plus mohair I would pick a different pattern
Thank you so much Judith. X
Great video! I have Stick Season Jacket (my upstairs project), the Conwy Slipover (my travel knit) and the Shrike Cardigan (my downstairs project) on my needles right now! 😆
What a lovely selection of projects. And i love that they have "locations" in the house. That is very clever. I carry all of my WIPs around with me when I go somewhere which is ridiculous but I still do it. ;)
Hi,Tash- from California. I’ve only been knitting about 1.5 yrs and have found your videos so so inspiring and helpful- and tutorials too. I love all of your choices but I am still at the point where I tread cautiously toward more complicated patterns, like lace, etc. But it’s an exciting journey I must say and I love the online community. I do have to ask how you get so much done with a job and family? Just a fast knitter? And do you ever have any flops- finished projects that just aren’t your favorites? That would be a great video as you could point out what the issue might have been- wrong yarn, wrong size,, etc. we would all learn from it. Thank you for all you post- so very helpful!
Thank you so much Diane. At times I have had a segment where I showed a sweater that I havent worn and pondered why. But the podcasts have been getting so long and i have wanted to try to keep them a bit shorter. I might make that a separate video and perhaps show a few like this and what i have learned i DONT want in a garment.
As for how i get a lot done - i am a crazy multi-tasker. Always doing multiple things. And I do knit pretty fast, at least if it is stockinette and I am using wool or a wool blend. But mostly multi-tasking. e.g. I go for a walk, take a beanie to work on and call a friend to chat during my walk. That kind of thing. :)
Wauw, what a inspirational and enthousiastic video Tash, love it!!
Thanks so much Liana. :)
I loved that video. So inspirational. I'm hoping to have a year of knitting/crocheting with my handspun. But I'm already behind as a family member is having a baby and requested a fair isle jumper for it 😅
Thank you so much Sonya. Ah yes - we have to let some knits queue jump. :)
You are so organised Tash. Good for you! I am waiting for some Sandnes Peer Gynt yarn that I have ordered to make a Checkerplate sweater (by Lily Kate France), her most recent design. 🌸🧶🌸🧶🌸
Thank you so much! That is a very cool design and looks like a fun make. :)
I have knitted the Sabai top (with ribbing) in Bellissimo Lucca in a ice blue for my daughter. Great knit! She gets lots of comments when worn to work so I was chuffed with the result. I want to knit the unribbed version for myself as a more casual top
Thank you so much for sharing that with me Tracey. I moved it to the top of my queue! :)
Hi Tash, glad to be here ❤
Thank you so much! I am so pleased you found your way here. x
I found the Anker Tee to have an odd ft, especially where the neckline lays on your neck. I much preferred the Anker summer top. I also loved the Freestyle Top so much that I bought enough yarn for three more. It fits fantastically and is my favorite short sleeve top.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with both of these patterns. That is super helpful. I will be watching out with the Anker Tee (maybe casting on more stitches and definitely adding short rows) and now I am very excited to start the Freestyle Tee. :)
I think we have similar styles; I have a number of the same plans in my favorites. I’m currently working Instant Crush (almost done!). I used Isager Alpaca and Rowen Alpaca Haze in blues, brown, and cream. It’s so soft and cushy!!
Hope you are happy with the finished Instant Crush. Looking forward to hearing how you like the end result. :)
Just love your podcast they are so inspiring! If only I could knit half of that! Just wondering what you are wearing its lovely❤
Thank you so much Angela. I am wearing Ilha by Orlane Sucche. A sweater that i turned into a dress. x ravel.me/tashbalaz/i1
I’m working on the Peacock tee at the moment but my plans so far include-Alpine Bloom, No Frills sweater and Cocktail cardigan. ☺️
Thank you so much for sharing. Great plans for sure! :)
Good luck with your future plans. I am currently looking for yarn for the Staffin sweater by Rebecca Clow and the Arctic Light by Veronika Lindberg.
What beautiful sweaters. They look like a lot of fun to make. :)
Wow, I am currently knitting Instant crush with a a kit from magpie , so soft… I have used Kid Silk mohair in another project , it is too prickly for me. Last summer I knitted for my daughter the Ilana camisole . I have knitted it with the lovely Rosarios 4 Madragoa yarn.
Thank you so much for sharing. I am wondering if i will regret the Drops choice. I dont plan this to be next to skin (except maybe on my forearms). So hoping that will be alright. Fingers crossed. I definitely want to try the Magpie. Happy to hear you like how it feels. :)
Great plans Tash. I’ve already knit the Sabai top which I love and I’ve had my eye on the Andrea Mowry Traveller Cowl so will be interested to see if you give it a go. Thanks for sharing. With the excel workbook do you move the finished items to another sheet on the workbook that says “finished in 2025”. 🙋🏼🏴
This is the first time i have done this so I am experimenting. I think instead of deleting or moving, i might put a strikethrough or shade the cell. :)
Wow!!!! So many wonderful projects. I am looking to make the Lyra Tee using Knitting for Olive pure silk. I have never worked with silk. Any tips or suggestions to avoid problems? Looking forward to this wonderful year ahead. ❤
Thank you so much Maryann. That is a gorgeous tee. Straight into the Favorites! I like the Knitting for Olive Pure Silk. It did grow a lot for me. I would do a large gauge swatch and block. Mine grew on blocking but not nearly as much as the top i was making so i think i needed a larger swatch. Even then, i would still maybe be prepared for growth. A smaller needle size may help as well. x
@ thank you for this valuable tip ❤️
The pale green silk will give gorgeous Cleopatra vibes to the Broken Rib Tank
Yes! I think the sheen will make it really pretty. :)
How can you tell you are a math teacher without saying you are a math teacher😂
I am currently working on Sailor Swift top by Kutovakika (Veronika Lindberg) using Sandnes Garn . My next project will be the Geo Yoked Fair Isle sweater by Di Gilpin. So a summer tank and a winter sweater.
Love that you have one winter and one summer on the needles. That suits my style as well. Definitely want to make the Sailor Swift Top. That may make it into 2025 for me. Thanks for sharing. :)
Looking forward to making tees soon. did not realize the poppy tee was done in cashmere. Isn't that a pretty warm fiber for summer like alpaca? I would really like to try it though.
I'm working on a champagne cardigan - ready to do the double knitted button band but need to watch some videos to help. I think you've done one and will look it up. Also working on a Karl Johan sweater which i adjusted for a sport weight yarn.
Thanks for sharing what you are up to. I have done a video for the Champagne cardigan button band. I cut the yarn when i got to the buttonholes as pattern describes but I believe there is an option to do it another way so you dont have to cut the yarn. So might be worth looking that part up as well. Well done adjusting the Karl Johan sweater for a different weight of yarn. How do you find the neckline? Are you happy with the way it sits?
@@mostlyknitting I did a double knitted button band without cutting and does not lay right. Following your video and cutting the yarn this time - looking really good. Haven't finished the Johan sweater and know about the little bulge - love the look of the sweater so will see. Thanks for the great tutorial!!
Hi Tash, thank you for your constant positive inspiration!
Are you able to share where you got the Peer Gynt yarn from please? I’m having trouble sourcing it in Australia.
Hi Chris. I got it from a place called SKD yarns.
Thank you Tash
Really enjoyed the video. Thank you. Could I ask what is the fabulous project bag behind you ( I think it's leather)?
Thank you so much Christina. It is a Project Bag 10 by ReDesigned. I love it. It is really fantastic. Totally worth it. :)
@mostlyknitting thank you. Definitely want one of those 😊. Might have to wait for my birthday though!
Hi Tash I’m a bit late to the party, going to get back into knitting big time. I’m in Adelaide- not sure where to purchase European yarn- do you buy it locally?
Hi Lucy. Welcome! I recently bought the Sandnes Garn yarn from SKD yarns. Im not sure if they are available in Adelaide. There arent many stockists in Australia at the moment, unfortunately.
Who is the designer for the Plain Yoke Tee?
Hi Susan. It is Lene Holme Samsoe. :)
Hi ,Tash if is first time that you use Drops Kid Silk be aware that is very itchy. I noticed that many knitters on you tube think so.
Thank you so much for that. I had heard that so i knew i had to make something that wouldnt be next to skin. No turtlenecks for this yarn! :)
Surely you could choose something other than Petit Knit? Is she sponsoring you?..
Surely you could keep your unnecessary comments to yourself. If you watched the podcasts each week you would know Tash is an honest person full of integrity and always discloses any free gifts affiliations. If you don't like Tash's choices then don't watch the podcast.
From my POV it’s a great video- I’m an Australian I wonder if European designs are too heavy for our climate- having just moved to a colder climate I’m inspired and will also be following Petitknits everyone seems to love them
I do choose a lot of Petite Knit patterns and there are a few reasons.
- For me, they are clear, well-written and easy to follow (I enjoy the knitting process)
- They generally fit me well and any modifications i make are easy for me to do (the designs turn out as i expect/hope)
- I like the style (I wear them all the time)
Pretty much all the boxes are ticked. That is why I choose to knit them.
Thank you so much for the encouragement and the kind words. x
Thank you so much Lucy. I find i get really cold in the Sydney winter and I also knit a lot of Petite Knit summery tops which suit me when the climate warms up (like now! 40C tomorrow!!)
That's a lot of Petiteknit.
Sure is. :)
I really enjoy her aesthetic and I like the knitting process as well. :)
