Just got out grandads 1960 out of the garage after 14yrs he brought it when it was a year old he sadly passed away this year loads of memories for my mum and her sister hopefully we will keep her and get her back on the road again 👍🏻

My dad had a ?1957? Bedford CA split screen, ex RN, service # 57RN63, bought from the Ruddington MOD sales in 1957, I believe, had it registered 549LTG. Six seater 'utilabrake' where the rear two rows folded down to a load space. Went all over the south west and to London in it. Get goose bumps every time I see one.
My dads company transport was a Bedford CAV 15cwt van with the Dormobile 5 fold down flat seat conversion. No extra windows in the back to save on Purchase Tax. With the seats folded down the goods area was the same as a standard van. Behind the drive was a double seat and walk way to a treble across the rear.
The heater only blew out warm air to the drivers foot well and all of the windscreen, so it was bl---y freezing in there during the 1960s winters.
My parents had one of these exact dormobiles many moons ago. I remember as a kid liking that it had a 'face'!

The paint spraying, I sprayed a Vulcan V Bomber in the RAF in the fifties, lots of cheese rolls milk, and tea was provided with the idea of stopping the paint building up inside you.

Where did you watch this episode? I have every app and am willing to purchase and can’t ever get the new season of wheeler dealer in the USA. Do they not like money?
I think this series is so much better than the last. Not because it’s in England but think Elvis brings something to the screen that comes across better.
I know Mike has worked with him on another programme and so far gel well. 👍

All the work that Mike and Elvis have put into this and it's worth just under £10,000, I wouldn't be surprised if they had gotten £12,000 for this beautiful vehicle

We had one when i was a kid. It was yellow/white it always reminded me of a egg. 9584 NU was the reg. Last i knew it was in Scotland. Would love to see it again if it's still alive.

The best Van/pick up/ workhorse that ever came out of Vauxhall. Drive with the doors open on summmer days fantastic. 3 speed Column gave room across the front.
Yeah, but the sliding doors used to slam shut when you braked. As kids, we noticed it had everything except the toilet.

I had a Bedford Dormobile in the early 80s but never used her as my gf wouldn’t be seen dead in it. Shame I married her but happy days got rid of her 12 years ago.🤣
My dad's mate delivered Bedford ca vans to the dormobile factory late 60s early 70s
Also did a lot of deliverying for USG United service garage in Portsmouth
I found a Beford cargo van at a estate sale of 2300 Vech! Everyone said it was a ford Falcon. NO! But close $100 and it was mine. I was the only Bidder 😂
I use to be a partsman for a Vauxhall dealer and every Saturday morning, in would come the home mechanics for their parts. In particular was a lady with a c a van with a constantly aggravating gear linkage. The system had I think, thirteen different pieces of linkage with bushes on each bit. It was a absolute nightmare to set up. When she came in, all the staff would stand opening and closing their mouths like fish breathing. Mrs Carp never cottoned on. Great fun.

A Bedford CA was first vehicle I ever drove. My dad had two of them. Only down side was front bumpers always sagged making them look unhappy

Good show but would love to have seen more of the engine installation particularly the finished engine and final drive mounting. That bit seemed to have been much briefer than other episodes.

@@sidrens5292 yeah, but they outsourced rebuilding the engine, repainting the van, etc. Actually, everything but removing and reinstalling appeared to be outsourced.
It's spelt "Labour" the definition is manual work, check the dictionary.
We all know that, but! do we really care?, a nice bit of British automotive history has been preserved and given a new lease of life.

My Grandfather had a Doormobile when we were kids. I think it must have been a VW going by the parts in the attic. He bought it with no floor in the front, but the back and roof was in good nic. After sitting in the street for 10 years after he passed away a scrap dealer came knocking and took it away.

My dad had one as a builders van, I loved it, passenger seat was a pile of dust sheets, dod sat in the foot well with the sliding door open....how did we survive???!!!!
My Dad had one to,he use to let me start the engine,the starter button solenoid was between the seats.Funny how kids remember minor details!
Haven't watched anything Brewer's been involved in since he forced Ed out of the original show. Don't know how Ed put up with Brewer's irritating "cackling"; and abuse as long as he did. I'm here now; to inform those who aren't familiar with Mr. Brewer; that he's good at a coupla things tho... how to take credit for other people's talent and hard work; and how to eat.

Dormobile? I do recall that name but we more commonly referred to campervans as caravanettes or caravettes. But I suppose that was more for VWs. Much better than the Fords.

Hi my name is Jeffery from Blackpool and I live in a tent in the back of a van and struggling if there was three full of vehicles and toys for boys could it be of interest
I enjoyed seeing greater detail of engineered fixes in precious series. This detail seems to have been lacking in recent times. For example in this episode I remember seeing the gear linkage in action. There's no way in a million years that it would have worked in the opposite direction to how it was operated for the camera. The rod was far too flimsy to push anything with any kind of resistance. I'd bet my house that it had to be significantly redesigned before making it to the road.
I still enjoy watching WD but the scripting is becoming more and more obvious with each successive series. Please go back to the basics of the early series without all the Hollywood stuff.
I love CAs, just a shame Ford took the T****** to another level.

Don't know why they bother anymore! The show is such a shadow of what it started as. No way Mike built any of those cabinets! And they only show a fraction of the work and cost that go into the makeovers. Fortunately a new show called Flipping bangers has taken the original WD formula both the guys actually work on the car's and show all the details! it's great! Well worth watching!
