    Personally I don’t find cables to make a big difference. However, that isn’t fact and it is opinion based. If someone believes that cables make a big difference more power to them. This hobby is about “you” as a person and what you enjoy. Nobody is forcing you to buy extra cables or audio equipment. If you find that streaming music and having it go through a budget amp and dac is good enough, nobody should be able to tell you otherwise. Great content as always!

      It is fact, actually. I don't really care if random people understand that their cables make no difference but buy them anyway, because they perceive a difference thanks to placebo. That's on them. I do however, have an issue with these people telling other people who don't know any better that they need to waste even more money to get the best out of their system, which is nonsense.

      @@PassionforSound thing is, you review affordable IEMs and next not so affordable cables. My point is that cables I mentioned are dear yet affordable but make significant difference vs stock cables found with earphones. If one is considering cable upgrade it is most likely to buy something better but not as expensive as Effect Audio.

    Very Good Topic Passion for Sound , Thanks for the Video .
    When people can't hear the difference with higher quality cable it's because you need higher quality IEMs, DAC and AMP Components , Better Ear Tips-SpinFit W1 for a good seal for testing .
    High Quality cable is like a USB 4-C phone charge cable 40 gbps or 8k hdmi cable , they transfer information in Hyper Speed for delivering 100% audio information to your IEMs , where cheaper cable can only deliver 70-80% , i.e. like HD TV vs 1080 TV vs 4/8k TV difference , $20 IEM won't be able to do much with expensive cable and dac/amp dongles can't do much with better sound too , that's why a DAC may cost thousands of dollars for extreme audiophile like Thomas Audio TH-cam channel .
    It's like a package High Quality Cable pairing with Higher Quality IEM set and Audio Device as well, Thank You !

    I really wish there was a difference in cables, and maybe there is but my ears can't pick up on it. I recently had the chance to try (as a review sample) a premium copper cable and a premium silver cable from the same manufacturer. Used on my Edition XS. I have heard big difference between dac/amps where many say you can't, but I could not for the life of me hear any difference in those two cables. Your mileage may vary I guess.
    Plenty of reasons to get a premium cable anyway, and the one in the video is gorgeous. I still have the silver cable I mentioned plugged into my XS because it looks and feels extremely premium.
    And just to be clear, I understand that there is more to sound than conventional measurements can show. I'm open-minded, but just haven't been able to hear it myself.

    • @PassionforSound
      @PassionforSound  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Thanks for sharing such a balanced comment! It's totally fine for people to not hear a difference between any types of devices or accessories because there are lots of factors that influence this. I've definitely found some cables where the differences are minimal and others (like the Ares S X Cadmus 8W) where the difference is dramatic.
      The main thing, as you say, is to just try it with an open mind and see what you hear so you can make up your own mind on each particular thing.

    • @NotTheOnlyMattAround
      @NotTheOnlyMattAround 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@PassionforSound Hubris doesn't do anyone any good, especially in sensitive topics like these. I've also considered that the XS is much more difficult to drive than the average IEM, so perhaps it would be more noticeable on something sensitive. I've not had the occasion to see if it's possible for me hear the difference with IEMs, but someday I'll give that a try if I have the opportunity.
      I'm also someone who has been more than happy with a good bluetooth unit like the Focal Bathys, Denon Perl Pro, or Devialet Gemini II paired with a BT-W5 (and my phone when on walks), so maybe I have the good fortune of not having those golden ears others have. I am all open for debate, and certainly not an expert. The idea that different frequencies can travel at different speeds I am not so sure about - as all different frequencies are a combined single voltage signal going up or down.
    That a signal can be smoothed out more or less (affecting certain frequencies, mostly high ones) sure - for example high frequency roll off that can be (easily) heard with passive pre-amps and (too) long interconnect cables.
    A few months ago I got a relatively simple equalizer. Playing around with it in a subtle way, and of course using its bypass switch, I realized that a lot can be achieved with this. Also recently I had the option to connect my best headphones to a very good headphone amplifier with variable output impedance - oh my, changing that made a tremendous difference - I wonder why so few headphone amps have that option.

      @crazyprayingmantis5596 I will happily be a skeptic as needed, but in my experience, these "cheap" Effect Audio cables *almost always* have sonic differences. Do I hate that some cables are sold for thousands? Not a fan of that, but some people are very wealthy, and to each their own. But all the EA cables I have "sound" different, for better or worse (I do not have expensive cables-only from their Vogue series, a regular Cadmus, and a regular Ares II. All have "their sound," depending on the IEM.)
      Of course no one "needs" an "upgrade" cable-stock cables generally will suffice. But differences can be had-this is not about believing in Santa Claus. I hate deception and snake oil as much as any decent being-I assure you, no golden ears needed, cables *can* make a difference, especially on many IEMs. It's best you try for yourself and figure it out.
      I admit eartips are even more important, but if you know you have IEMs you love with eartips you enjoy using, investing on another cable could help you fine tune the sound of your favorite earphones.
      Nothing wrong in not believing in differences-but please understand many of us are NOT imagining "sounds"-sometimes it's very obvious. Agree to disagree.

    • @classicalthrasher
      @classicalthrasher 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@crazyprayingmantis5596 Why would I want to deceive you? Decide/hear for yourself. No amount of "evidence" will convince you if you already made up your mind. And if you do not hear any difference, it's fine. Ridiculing others as if they believed in fairy tales is what annoys me-not the lack of "belief" in cable sonic differences.
      The gentleman in this video certainly believes in his findings, and is not trying to fool you. I bought all of my cables (do not have too many, and none too expensive, mind you.) Easy to tell difference between stock and Ares II in most of my IEMs, same depth insertion, same tips. Same for Cadmus. It may sound subjectively worse with some IEMs. But the difference exists. Why? I wish Effect Audio was more transparent myself, but while you do not need any cables other than stock (granted it's not defective), I am not imagining the sudden boost in certain frequency regions.
      Hate liars, so I am not trolling you. But if for you there are no differences beyond the colors, cable flexibility, etc., so be it. I won't disrespect you for it.

    • @classicalthrasher
      @classicalthrasher 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @crazyprayingmantis5596 I cannot show you what I hear-I could bring a friend and you could very well accuse me of "staging" the whole thing because you won't believe. And in the end, that is the issue here. If you won't believe there are differences, "evidence" won't matter to you.
      Try the cables yourself-no difference? Good-you saved yourself some money if you do not even enjoy the aesthetics. But why insult others intelligence? Is that enjoyable? Some also do not hear differences between an HD600 and an HD650-while I would disagree, I would not insult them either or start an argument about it (nor challenge them to make a "blind-test" ear test to "satisfy" me.)
      I do not make TH-cam videos, so my cheap talk will have to suffice. "Thanks" for calling me a liar with an "agenda" without knowing who I really am.

    Won't an oscilloscope solve this debate by comparing the original signal's waveform to the one measured at the end of the cable? If they match there is no change, regardless of what someone believes. If the cable does alter the signal, the question then becomes can the human brain even perceive such minute changes?

      Unfortunately, an oscilloscope will only help on a static sine wave which isn't what music contains. Music has multiple frequencies all traveling down the wire at once. My understanding of cable influence is that it might come down to how the different frequencies travel down the wire (at different depths and speeds) and therefore the shifts in timing of the signal at the other end.

    The problem with cables and even 1000 doller cables is that it needs to synergise well with the iem. Its like the custom art H3 pro I find is tuned specifically to the null audio ethos cable that it comes with. Getting other cables like that from EA eros sounds while more transparent and warm looses alot of the imaging and precision.
    Also apperently people cant hear the differences between cables or arent as anal about precision, texture, tonal balance, tembre, dryness and dynamics. Its so annoying how EQ only affects the sustained tonal balance but transients as well as decay and dryness arent affected at all and needs time doman DSP. Even then I found that majority of the time to can only add to the wetness/sustain and decay and trying to dry it further results in not as sharp transients and even mushy hits. So annoying.
    Ok back to cables, if possible demo them first with the iem/headphone/speaker/interconnect (and god why does data cables affect sound but it does. Give me back my innocence) cables with the hardware that is going to be paired or have a good refund policy.

      I think the opposite-amps always matter, even *some* DACs-for headphones and earphones, but IEMs can be especially sensitive to cable swapping. HOWEVER, differences are often more subtle than eartip changes, and won't make enough of a difference in some of the earphones to "change" it to something it is not, and/or justify outrageous prices. It is something only one can try, as any "evidence" or "tests" could easily refuted with a "but!" if you have no open-mindedness that there is the possibility for there to be any changes.
      For the record, all those affordable $20-30 dollar cables with colors that may change the sound? I often doubt it myself, but there could be changes. I do not feel compelled to try out each cable out there. But the ones I have tried from Effect Audio did make a difference, for better or worse-you can either believe me, or call me a charlatan/liar/chill for the company. With some sensitive IEMs, the difference is almost like a "considerable" EQ change, and it's best each person tries this out themselves. I won't criticize you for not hearing a difference if you really cannot, but I know those who hear these changes are not *necessarily* lying. The gentleman in this video always seems sincere enough, even when I disagree with his preferences at times!
      I am not trying to start an argument-please do not feel offended. 👍

      The impact of cables isn't limited to their shift in impedance, although that can be a factor in some cases and will definitely influence low impedance IEMs if that happens.
      Having tried some cheap, Ali Express cables in the past, a poor cable can muck up the sound just as much as a better cable can improve it. 🙂

And those same terms measured on extremely sensitive instrumentation. Some of the inapplicable phenomina thought of by some are only effective in the rf range in 1000 meter long or longer cables. That is, to say, these inapplicable phenomena are only applicable at wavelengths that are very much shorter than the very, very lengthy cable lengths. Period. Furthermore, rigidly conducted A/B/X tests definitely reveal that there is NO certainty in perceived differences at all. The data is truly nondeterminant in truly rigid tests.
