I wish I could be your neighbor. You have no idea how hard is when you start deer hunting on your late 30’s and no one in your family hunt you are the only one. It’s frustrating some time. You have been help me a lot. Thank you for all the info you are share. You definitely save me some time. (Maybe years lol) I didn’t get any mature buck yet only shot couple spike last year I do get some Does and be able to put some meat in the freezer. I will keep watching you and try. Thank you very much God bless you.
That's perfect. Get good at just finding and harvesting deer. You will work your way into a mature buck if you stay on it. Always learn something when you get out in the woods
Hey Dan, I live across the pond from you in Michigan lol. Big fan of your videos! I've been bow hunting for about 15yr and I absolutely love it. Only having access to public land and being a self taught hunter I had a hard time lol but the last few years I've been able to get a lot more serious about it and love trying to find the big boys on public land lol. I've learned more from your videos than anything and love just spending time in the woods and swamps. If your ever in the area would like to meet you and take any advice I can get. Thanks again for all the good information! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Thanks Josh, Dan, and everyone else involved in The Hunting Beast for all the great info. The info you guys share has changed the game for me big time. Don't know where I'd be without all your info.
Bow was all sorts of mishaps and got Covid Friday before Gun opener, was down for the count till last day of gun. Saw 0 deer during muzzleloader which is a 1st for me.
No kidding! One of the worst years I can remember for finding any good bucks, then when I finally get a shot at my target buck the day after Thanksgiving, he jumps the string big time and the arrow sails over his back. 🤦♂🤦♂
Good morning Dan and Josh just wanted to let you guys know your videos are awesome thanks for them. I’m not able to hunt like I used too for health reasons but watching your videos is like being there again. Thanks guys
I got one last evening. Small 10 point. We have not been seeing any daylight movement so I moved to a gully with a small creek.there is a cedar swamp to by back and a creek in front of me. Just before dark I hear a stick break so I stand up and turn to the right and wait.soon I see movement and he came sneaking out and I made a good shot. First deer I seen all week In are shot gun week I will say he was in full rut and smelt like piss.....I could smell him before I got to him
I hear what your saying Dan here in NH. The days are very short, tomorrow morning going to be 22 degrees will be a cold sit in the stand with the bow. Season ends on the 15th. Firearm ended this past Sunday. They should be moving. Thanks for the awesome content.
Old video but down here in southeastern KY it is impossible to glass other than road side fields. People refer to it as hill country but it should be referred to as mountain country. Very hard to hunt these mountains and makes the late seasons very challenging. Especially hunting public land which is the Daniel Boone national forest.
Your right about the holiday hunt, we have been trying to get rid of it and the DNR doesn't care. Considering our governor it won't change anytime soon.
Still got a month in Arkansas Plenty of horns still, hadn’t quite figured out why some drop there horns early Seen a mature buck with 4 doe on the 29th of January
Just sat down to a glass of sweet tea, gosh that’s crazy on that buck kill ratio. Come on to Alabama Dan the rut about to get fired up here or the Mississippi Delta Merry Christmas!
As a bow hunter only,I want to push at the end for my unfilled buck but holidays and set days throw me through a loop as I already burnt up work favors. I feel like I have no time left as I can’t pick and choose any more.Doe hunts are pissing on my boots. I patiently wait out orange army and muzzle, but now feels like never ending.Congrats to all that had success during the multiple seasons this year.Yes, Vote would be nice. At least ya have a fighting chance. Sorry back to the video
I scouted a place on my last bike ride through a property I know well after Thanksgiving on my way in. Just a little snow & I could tell what was going on. But work schedule got screwed up due to the big cross country storm. I wanted to hunt most of the day Wednesday & then do a morning hunt Thursday. I couldn't do either due to factors beyond my control screwing me over. Someone took a deer Wednesday & gutted it 20 feet behind my where i parked my 🚗 on Thursday. Went out & seen nothing & a Thursday morning appointment turned into Friday mid-day so I didn't get a hunt in that day either. Looks like we will be very 🥶 for the near future here in MN. I've lost 25 lbs over the last 2 seasons with little success & I'm in pretty good shape. But I don't have enough of a B.M.I. to stay warm anymore & I hate sitting on the ground. At least our 6 week gun/muzzleloader season is finally over!
Quick question for all y’all snow birds out there. Going to do some late season hunting in Minnie-Soda starting this weekend and the area just got hit by snow. Should I worry about my camo pattern while entering and exiting my tree location? Was thinking of just buying a white bed sheet and making a poncho out of it.
@@thehuntingbeast Thanks Pards! ! Gonna try Andre’s bump and dump and hopefully give a good ole boy, a cozy dirt nap! Y’all are the best! Keep it beastly!
I always like to find the spray nozzles to locate them. Once I have the spray nozzle locations, I will always find them there. Of coarse the size of them matters when using this method. Good luck
I just think there's way too much talk about big buck big buck big buck it starts to get to be overwhelming and I believe that It needs to stop being pushed so heavily by the hunting community as a whole. I am sure those that don't get or don't see big bucks get frustrated and some quit hunting altogether. Hunting is about time in the field and memories. I personally make others feel good if they shoot a spike where legal. There are hunters out there that need help just to shoot a basket rack!
Absolutely, some areas just don't hold big deer and some just hunting for meat. I'm fortunate to have some good spots working on a farm, but I never look down on someone for shooting a " small buck".
The tactics described will help you kill any buck, or if saying buck is also offensive, any deer... Keep in mind that many people, most perhaps, dream of someday shooting a big buck. They just don't know how to get there. We give those people a path and a direction. If you watch our videos you will see plenty of people shoot there 1st buck, or just a small buck for one reason or another. Nothing I hate more than buck shaming, but it works both ways. You dont like being shamed for shooting forky dont shame someone else for pursuing big bucks.
The Hunting Beast With all due respect, I did not shame anyone for what they harvest, and I think you should read my post again. Just making an outside observation how I feel the hunting community portrays hunting success by the size or age of a buck determines a hunters self worth. Again, I respect this entire channel for all that you do in teaching hunters as you are some of the best out there imo. Hope you all have a great Christmas!
I want to thank you' all for promoting the use of Milkweed. Your helping out the dwindling population of Monarch Butterflies as a by product. In the past (I'm old) I used goose down from geese I shot or a old vest. Please keep up the use of promoting Milkweed. It helps.
2 buck and 4 doe this year for me. No need for me to get out late season. I'll just leave the food plots and land alone so the deer feel comfortable and unpressured till next year.
Sounds like the holiday hunt is something of a backwards tool by dnr to reduce herd. Maybe that is a good spot to use EAB. They might get more participation. In my county, no matter how many antler less seasons they have, or multiple free tags they give out, it remains at 32 deer per square mile. They eat very well, so I usually take at least 2 does. The hunting is great, so I hate to complain.
We take our younger kids on the doe hunts to teach them. And hunting in the deep December snow is fun. I usually see a big buck or 2 during these doe hunts- doh!
How can you glass and do observation sits when you primarily hunt hardwood hills with no crop fields? I considered waiting till after a hard rain and trying to still hunt my way until running into deer. That way the leaves wouldn’t be crunchy.
If I have to keep hunting into late season I have trouble. I just can’t find a good food source on public and when I do you can tell it’s been cleaned up, I’m too late. I think I need to look for different type spots for late season. I’m having trouble finding where they typically go when it gets colder and later. I just don’t have any late season experience.
I absolutely hate the extra hunts. Youth, 4 day doe, muzzleloader & holiday. Kids aren’t special regardless of what you think - they should hunt the specific seasons. If you can’t harvest a doe during bow or gun - oh well. Muzzleloader should run with gun season. Chose your weapon - rifle, shotgun or muzzleloader. Guns get put away after the 9 day gun season and December is bow season till 12/31 and then deer season is done!
If you get to late season and haven't filled your tag you need to consider lowering the bar and shoot any deer that you get in range. Spots that work with a south wind may be a good idea since south winds normally mean warmer temps.
@@thehuntingbeast Dec 1st -7th + Dec 12th-23rd = 19 days that bucks are legal in December. In Dodge county bucks are legal 27 days in the month of December. Same with the Central Forest Zone where you bear hunt @. Also Fort McCoy doesn't have those extra doe hunts.

Yea, I would consider white camo if the deer can spot you heading in and out, and if needed to blend in.

If you don’t have enough does to shoot 1 during the 9 day gun hunt and muzzleloader, there aren’t enough to have a doe hunt😂
Then I guess that means dnr don't know how to do their jobs then bc I've only seen 4 deer on public 2 are in my freezer.

I’m in south Alabama. Mobile to be exact… it’s not late season here. Still got 2 months left 😂😂.

Most herd reductions r about #'s. #'s to them r $$$ so they can do what they really want to do which is manufactured wood projects on public land.
Love finding Beast videos I may have missed !
Love the style and can really relate to you guys!
Glad I subscribed!

A lot of the time they are around edge and openings in the woods. But you cant always glass... Its just one of the options.
So true I got busted this weekend 😂deer blew for 15 minutes

I shot a button buck but dnr allow it bc i had a universal tag an buck tag😂

I couldn't bring myself to do that I got a 4 yr old ten pt last year why should I lower a standard just to fill a deer tag that's stupid
I shoot deer when the opportunity presents itself. If I don't have meat, I'm going to get it.
But I thought hardly anyone participates in those extra doe seasons? So why wait until January?
Because the whole month of December minus a couple days you can only shoot does. Can't hunt bucks when they are not legal to hunt.
