@jerryfranks1158 go out! Go out my man, and do something different than you’ve done all year. Sit in that different spot, make a totally different entrance, go deep and far in you haven’t been to this year. GO NOWWW!! It’s 2:00, I hope you’re dressed and already gone!!
Love the words of encouragement. Ever since I’ve been watching this channel my drive, passion and skills have grown. You’ve got a member for life here 👍🏼
Been watching you for the last several months. Pushed myself harder than ever, getting in the woods for at least 40 bowhunts. Made a mistake on a Buck, but lesson learned. From Michigan so used to hunting that terrain. I’m in the mountains of West Virginia now. A lot of big Buck but having a harder time figuring out how exactly they operate here. New tactic for next year. Spend a lot more time scouting and pushing myself into uncomfortable spots. Got a couple hunts left in me this year
Dan when you say last minute on the last day in freezing cold 🥶 temperatures and you got your target buck, that gives me hope that one day I will get a shot at a mature buck. I will never quit trying, ty Dan....
Waiting for this video...the Beast is about the only place that gives me the pep talk. Its taken me awhile, but I finally got to the place where I can get all the crap out of my head so I can hunt. Unwanted noise setting up, forgotten items, cold, forget it all. The simpler I keep it, the better my odds.
Yep, I have nothing but respect and admiration for these amazing creatures! I thank God i'm a bowhunter/outdoorsman! Not about the kill for me anymore, more about the experiences! As I look at each buck I have mounted on the wall, The memory of that day fills my spiritual cup with joy!
This hits home. I shot a nice buck that I couldnt find in early november and the four encounters with shooters that just didnt go my way. I definitely did some thumb sucking lol. Thanks for the pep talk fellas.
Definitely agree on not getting to comfortable or letting up. Got a nice buck on thanksgiving so decided to take it easy the next day. I waited for the rain to let up with it being cold as well, go to my spot and missed a nice buck by an hour. If I decided to sit in the rain I woulda got him. Not making that mistake again.
Man, I’m wearing a hunting beast T-shirt right now that’s no shit. Let’s go get that buck - I got a picture of you pointing holding a bow - I don’t fanboy a lot of people. I’m a blue-collar dickswinging plumber - the world, lacks positive male role models thank you for being you! .. keep up the good work you’re my hero . “ is it that you’re pushing it to the limits yes, but you want it that way.”
Thanks for the awesome videos and keeping it real! It’s always refreshing to see successful hunters being honest about their mistakes. There’s no better way to learn than from your mistakes! I also really enjoy your podcast, The Beast Report on Wednesdays.
Great video Dan! Nothing like late season bow hunting! It’s been a tough season for me but I will be hunting hard through January to turn the tide, thank you for the encouragement!
Ive been hunting for years. Ive always killed does and small bucks. Never really saw any big deer. Then i started to understand why from watching your videos. Hunting deer is not the same as hunting big bucks. I have changed my tactics and haven't shot a single deer since. Hunting this way i see less deer. However this year i finally got eyes a nice big buck coming out of his bed. I did miss though. What that taught me is i am getting closer. Thanks for everything you are doing. You definitely had a positive impact on my success in finally getting eyes on a nice buck!
I’ve always been a hard hunter and since I been watching you and tearing your videos apart I challenge myself. I scout all winter long, I’m your age and I’m stepping outta the box to go to the mountains to scout it an challenge myself there in PA, never been there but my curiosity has me
Great job men! The older I get the harder it seems to get! Encouragement is very much appreciated! Nice to listen to normal working men instead of some rich guy bragging about their several monster bucks they are after on their own property! Not all of us are rich!
I walked 5 mile just to get to the parking lot, puked twice on the way there, I turned back 4 times.. but I forced myself into a spot another 2 miles and popped a pb 11pt with 12in tines at 10 yards. You gotta push yourself, you gotta belive.
Our season closes Jan/1 and quite a few of the bucks up here have shed. I usually get a crack late in year at a decent buck but man are they on edge. Could not even draw on one a couple days ago on last day of Muzzleloader season, he saw me hook on my release and took off.
I like Dan because of the early podcast that started by saying “I am hunting beast” Ozzy Osborn intro…. Then he and Mario did the swap bedding podcast been watching ever since.
That deer at 51:00! What a grunt. Can’t believe you managed a second shot. What I’ve taken away from this video is that you have to be as tough as the deer you’re hunting and nothing less. Anyone who thinks they can kill big bucks without putting in this much work will be sorely disappointed.
Really not sure what happened with that 1st shot except that I was drawn back a long time. It would be easy to panic on the second shot. I got real lucky after blowing the 1st shot. I don't think everyone has to be that tough, but being mentally tough certainly helps, and getting upset, giving up early, not believing in yourself certainly don't help.
I shot a real nice chocolate 8+ point buck in Southern Michigan in 2018 archery......he grunted like that one buck Dan shot.....1st time I'd ever heard a buck do that ...but I immediately knew he waz a mature whitetail. Unfortunately after tracking an unbelievable blood trail to the neighbor's property line all I found waz a gut pile full of crows 😢
Im sure glad to hear Dan and Eric aren't hunting Dasher or Dancer or Comet or Cupid this year. Not selling out when every other hunting youtube video is titled "The story of Julius a 190" giant" is the greatest Beast tactic of all time.
i am 73 years old, and agree with most of what you say. I am always pushing myself, no matter cold weather, long walks back in. I have to do what most men cannot. I just think you guys are a little to wordy.
I've bought in 100 percent into the beast tactics and over the years my game has gotten a lot better but people don't like my tactics and it's hard to find a good hunting partner . You're lucky to have the partners you have or maybe their luck to have you LOL
Its been the worst year hunting that ive had in the last 35 years. Ehd hurt our area. A friend texted me that we should take up golf. Ive had 3 different kinds of Cancer in the last 7 years. Im 61 and and i replied to him "Im no quitter!". I still go most everyday. I will hunt until the last day of the season. I use hand warmers and they help me get through because I can't handle the cold as well since my chemo. Even though I don't see a deer a lot of the time i will never quit. I killed a real nice 8 point a few weeks ago. Things are looking up lol
The frame of that buck on the screen shot for this episode, looks much like the wide frame of the Rompala Buck, and everyone screams that Buck is fake and they the rack doesn't look real. Not saying anything of the sort here, just making an observation.
if you are kinda a regular guy with job etc- its just insanity and if you think its not it just shows how insane you are 100% and im kinda almost 100% this guy my self-same goes for the guy that works 24/7 and its billioner but in today society he gets all the credit!!
I know you have very good intentions, and I am a huge fan of yours, but I believe as a public land hunter, you have to have realistic expectations with your own hunting situation. From my research on Google, the bowhunter hunts 10 to 14 days in Wisconsin. That means you're hunting almost 6 times the average hunter just one year. I think its important to set reasonable expectations like just killing a deer on public land . Another huge factor killing big deer on public land is having a job that you're making at a minimum of 0ver 110,000 a year plus have a job that is very flexible in their hours. These are all outliers for the average public land hunter. America is becoming a poorer nation . For younger men, it's really going to be hard to find a wife that's okay spending time away from her and the kids. Look how high the divorce rate is today. Hunting is not a sport it's more like a hobby. For example, take football , every team has the same amount of time and plays my same set of rules. All the football fields are exactly the same. A bowhunter could kill a huge buck on private land In Iowa every year and be a below average hunter. Hunting has become a rich mans sport, but i still enjoy it. If I shoot a doe or a small buck, that's a win for me . I only hunt between 10 12 times a year or less.
I absolutely understand your stance, but I wouldn’t say rich man sport because as long as you are content with what you are shooting, nothing else matters. Nobody else matters. If you enjoy what you are doing, it is pure success in my mind. There isn’t a need to compare your Hu ting to anybody else because the terms will always be different no matter what… different state, different clothes, different bows etc
The truth is you can die out in the woods...if you fall in ice water and your deep in the woods with nobody to call or help you then you could easily freeze and die. Also it's not a bad idea to give the deer a break in December because they have to live out in the cold and they can't just go inside and get warm like us.
The truth is you are 100 times more likely to die driving to the property than while your hunting... And I see no problem hunting a healthy herd in December and January where determined by the states biologist to be eyhical and legal
I believe it, but over the last 10 years about 70 booners were shot in MI and over 460 were shot in WI, numbers don’t lie and we have one of the highest number of hunters in the country. Would love to see you guys get it done in MI.
@bennylazer5172 same way for hunting in the south.the deer are wired different south of Kentucky. So just because Michigan is a little harder than Wisconsin doesn't mean that Michigan isn't easier than places like tn ms nc ga and al.people that want to succeed will do it anywhere.
@bennylazer5172 I hunt all over the country.i haven't hunted Michigan I admit that but I've hunted several states and the farther north you get the more forgiveness the deer give you.just ask them ms boys Jeremy Aron or Daniel from "diy hunter".Daniel killed 2 bucks over 170 on public this year in the north. I know alot of people from Michigan so I understand it's yall personality's to think your better than everyone at everything but come down here and youll get your Lil yanky heart broke.
Dan listen to me now, buy yourself a tube of zanfel takes poison ivy sumac and oak off you faster then going to the doctor I always have a tube handy your welcome.
Awesome video Dan and always enjoy Eric as well…I have only hunted about 10 years…so I hope I’m not stepping on ya by questioning a few shots from an ethical perspective? In this vid, so a wounded deer escape, an attempt at a frontal shot that didn’t appear dead straight and a complete miss on the grunting buck that thankfully stuck around for a second arrow, and deer that dropped immediately that appeared to be a spine shot. You haven’t made it a point of taking 100% ethical shots, broadside, quartering away, 10-25 yds, the shots with very little risk of bad results, or showing shot placements and exit wounds. After all that said, would like to hear your perspective as I’m sure you prolly have ruffled feathers with some of your shot choices. You haven’t shown on your videos, that when you get into a tree on a first hunt, that your range finding landmarks….Im sure you do, but some prolly think not so…all that said, I personally love your content and keep on slaying. I am not trying to bust your balls, it’s just that I have passed up some of the shots that you take, and I feel like I’m dialed in… my biggest fear being, wounding or eventually killing the deer without a find. Your quest for wall hangers is an addiction that I can relate to, and have learned a lot from you. Congratulations on all your success and if ya could shed some light what’s going through your mind in those moments, it would help me to explain in to my kids in our outdoor club properly.
I never take a shot I dont fully believe will result in a clean kill... Maybe I should never shoot? We choose weapons that limit our abilities. Not everything is perfect. Wolves, cougars, all predators that seek deer, wound deer... If you seek perfection, probably stick to a rifle, and watch all the shows that also have bad hits occasionally but hide them in an attempt to look perfect... As far as telling kids they absolutly have to make a clean kill or they are failures.... They often quit hunting or even become anti hunters when they enevitably evevetually wound one.. All these people hiding the reality of bow hunting are hurting our sport. You try your best, and live with the results, and try to learn from it... Im so glad your perfect. I am not. And I wear it on my sleave so others can lean from it... If reality is to much for you, tune into any one of the other shows out there that fake perfection.
I feel like you guys are down playing private a bit i mean unless the guy is feeding i understand but you are downplaying some of the smart bucks who dont go to corn bc i dont feed on private but i still get on them similar to how you guys do thats just my opinion i understand the public pressure but they still get pressure and pushed back on private land with members to each there own but your doing some of those big bucks a disservice saying private is that much less of a challenge usually i agree with you guys though great video
Not downplaying anything... Private can be worse or better than nearby public. Some propertys your better off on the public. Some private is set up like a deer factory and thousands of dollars are put into growing and killing giants... Its not apples to apples but for the most part, most private has control over pressure, and therefore its not an equal playing field where anybody can freely come and go... Not knocking it, not saying its bad, just saying there is something special about getting it done amongst the pressure where anyone else with the same grit as you can get it done...
That’s why I think all trophies, and what is a trophy is different from person to person and what caliber of deer are in the area being hunted, should be placed in a special place where they can be remembered and shown the respect they deserve
There definitely is levels of every type of hunters you have $$ hunters and then the opposite there are those that won’t contribute to what is the hunting industry there are those who use every bit of technology and those that old school it with no cameras or drones they just get out and do the leg work very few are wrong but the personal satisfaction is what makes the difference in an easy hunt/kill and a work your fingers to the bone hunt/kill and I’ll take the latter all day reading the woods and the terrain learning deer language and learning to adapt to hunting pressure just like deer do
The only guys that aren’t tipping the odds are traditional hunters that don’t use cameras or anything else tech wise. If you’re using a compound sorry bud, you’re still tipping the odds.
I needed this video as I sit here in my chair pondering whether or not to go out this afternoon in freezing cold and windy conditions.

Out in Raleigh county. Hunt here, Mercer and Monroe. What about you?

Beast videos just hit different 🤌🏻
It's all the mindset and attitude that's gets the job done the grind the punishment we put on ourselves. Nothing but respect dan
Best intro ever!!!! Thanks guys for another great video.

i needed this im on the late season grind !
failure is a prerequisite for success. You cannot have one without the other
My favorite line is nobody likes a know it all unless he's taking you hunting on his spot
Failure is the seasoning that makes success taste so good

Great pep talk for this weekend! I’ll be out all weekend getting after it in the snow
Dan that deer you shot on the last day and the last minute is from not giving up !! Great video !
I like it when nonhunters ask if I caught anything, and if not why not. I'm called to hunt by the Almighty, it's not for everyone.

@ thats fair sorry i misinterpreted it wrong!

That’s why I think all trophies, and what is a trophy is different from person to person and what caliber of deer are in the area being hunted, should be placed in a special place where they can be remembered and shown the respect they deserve
There definitely is levels of every type of hunters you have $$ hunters and then the opposite there are those that won’t contribute to what is the hunting industry there are those who use every bit of technology and those that old school it with no cameras or drones they just get out and do the leg work very few are wrong but the personal satisfaction is what makes the difference in an easy hunt/kill and a work your fingers to the bone hunt/kill and I’ll take the latter all day reading the woods and the terrain learning deer language and learning to adapt to hunting pressure just like deer do
The personal satisfaction. You said it perfectly
The only guys that aren’t tipping the odds are traditional hunters that don’t use cameras or anything else tech wise. If you’re using a compound sorry bud, you’re still tipping the odds.
