- Another fun but busy couple of days at The Tent. The yard needed mowing, I found some free firewood. I went out fishing a couple of times. Another Hidden and Forgotten campsite was found. Transplanting some of the smaller trees. As always, good Tent cooking. It may have been busy, but to me that is relaxing.

Just so lucky to have family time with your dad i went fishing with my dad on Sundays and Lot of times on Wed he would take me out of school lolol. If you went to his store on Wednesday sign would say CLOSED GONE FISHING .. I CANT DO THE HUNTING ! I count deer heads all the time i been feeding deers for years. I understand why but i just don’t have the heart ❤️ i love them so much and yes have had a car wreck with one … There just so BEAUTIFUL ! Love to see you get to RELAX And HAVE FUN!
Everything looks beautiful, from the drive out from the House on the way to the tent, throughout the video. The beautiful nature. Its much the same way we live here in Norway. We go to our cabin in the weekends and holidays for relaxing, fishing or hunting, Its all green with beautiful fjords or lakes. Wish you a nice summer. From Jan in Norway

I have a small off grid cabin property in the mountains. I spend 1 hour cleaning and blowing when I arrive and the same before I depart. It's a chore, but worth it... Nice vid.
Showing up to a clean cabin is how it should be and it also keeps critters away.

I literally gonna do this when I get older, I’ve always wanted a cabin in the woods, I hunt and fish and it just seems right to have. You literally make my day when I watch these.

Thanks for the lessons on the plants I have lady slippers to and I had heard they were protected.I was told they are a rare orchid and it's nice to see you tree transplanting ,it wouldn't be as beautiful without them.

Fish near or on the surface on the wind blown end of the lake. Then have a fish filet, a potato, and some kind of vegetable. LOL. I love your life-style and wish I had the same. TY for the videos.

Was so happy to see this video posted this morning. Great start to my day.
Thanks for sharing your time. One tip on replanting any plant. If you were to dig the hole and backfill with dirt. The take a couple five gallons of water from the lake and dump it all around the planting at a fast rate to erode the soil into the root system. Maybe it will take four five gallon bucks. If you have a hose you can use the hose with your hand and push the hose into the root zone to erode the soil and fill the air spaces with mud. I know you can put the tree in and step down the roots and water it in and it will most likely be fine. But if you try this new method you should see much faster establishing trees or any plant that you plant. Loving the lady slippers. I didn't know it was the Minnesota state flower. very cool

jemilapointe sounds like some parts of the US are in Norway, it’s the same here.. 😅
I brown a chuck roast on both sides. Then I put it in a covered metal pan and add two cans of beef broth. I put it back in the oven or grill and let is sit in their at least an hour while I do other stuff. It falls apart with a fork. That broth makes great gravy. Then when it cools I cut it up and make barbecue beef. Bake a potato and add butter. Put on a good portion of barbecue beef. Top it with a bit of cheddar cheese and some ice cold vidalia onions (or sauteed) and you have one great meal. I've been binge watching this channel the past few days. Ohio, cold and I have the flu. I fall asleep watch, fall asleep wake up and watch again. I've loved the lake scenery. I'd buy a $200 cheap riding mower for all that grass. I have copd and can't do the push mower thing anymore.
I was at a greenhouse in St. Cloud a couple summers ago and they had Lady Slippers for sale that the Highway Dept had to move due to construction. They came with a letter to make it legal to purchase. 750.00 per plant. That's awesome you have them. I would definitely Mark the spot with something. I just love northern Minnesota and the lakes. You have a beautiful spot.

What a glorious weekend. Shame you were all alone. I didn't hear the loons on the lake this time. You got greedy at the rock quarry with that wood. ha ha that cracked me up to see how much you took. Did your dad want any? Your dads artistic touches amaze me. Just a perfect weekend.
We split wood for both places in the same place then we haul it to the folks and fill the wood bin before deer hunting and then I bring some up and fill the wood bin on the front porch.

Joe, Re: the dying/dead pine trees, it could be Pine bark beetles. We have lost a couple of pine down by Aitkin and I have noticed many more dying pine along the way up to the lake. Love the videos.

Hey Joe, just a thought: We've seen some images and videos of the start of the tent, but I'm not sure you've ever retold the history of the property; how it came to your and your folks' possession, etc. I for one would be curious to hear about it!
Actually for those of us newbies, a brief family history would be very helpful....how did you meet Melissa...how many cabins, houses are there? Seeing posts that are five or si x yrs old, just confuses things...took me a month or so to figure out Zach is your son, Melissa your fiancee, and Melissa has a house in Louisiana, the Farm you share...the tent is really a cabin....then there is the episode telling of your divorce, your dad stays at the folks cabin...isn’t it his cabin....see what I mean? It can be confusing, if you are new watching......help? Just one video that can help it all make sense. Ps how does the hobby farm fit in??

Joe try back trolling with a shallow diver. Or a spoon. You cover a lot more area. Also how come you don't use lake water to clean and shower with? If its heated to 160 degrees for 5 to 10 minutes it would be ok to drink as well.

Just a reminder... wind can be your friend while fishing if you have an anchor. Wind creates current in lakes which moves the bait. Don't be afraid to fish windy banks and points if you can hold.
